On 27 February 2020, the first case of COVID-19 disease was confirmed in The Netherlands by RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment). In the weeks after, thousands of people were diagnosed with the infectious disease. Data on COVID-19 case counts are important for research and applications on various topics like epidemiology and statistics.
This dataset contains reported case counts derived from official sources like RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment), LCPS (National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution), and NICE (National Intensive Care Evaluation). Data from these sources are collected, standardized, and published in various formats on a daily basis.
The README document in this repository provides an overview of the available datasets, their file location(s), and codebooks. Copies of the original data are stored in the folder named 'raw_data'. Scripts to process the raw data into standardized files can be found in the folder workflows.

Datasets in this publication report the number of diagnoses with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) based on RIVM reports in The Netherlands. Since 3 March, RIVM reports the number of diagnoses with the coronavirus and their municipality of residence on a daily base. The data contains the total number of positively tested patients. It is not a dataset with the current number of sick people in the Netherlands. The RIVM does not currently provide data on people who have been cured.
RIVM provides daily updates of the data. The data is not stored in a persistent way and is updated on the fly. RIVM removes data from previous days from their website. Therefore, it is not possible to monitor the spread of the coronavirus disease in the Netherlands on this data standalone. The data in this publication is composed of hourly downloads of the data of the website of RIVM. All code to compose the data was found on https://github.com/J535D165/CoronaWatchNL as well as graphs based on the data.

Dutch household spending on nearly half of commonly used services or products is expected to go down in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. This according to economic predictions from Dutch bank ING, based on the experiences the Canadian economy had in 2002/2003 with SARS. Even though ING does not mention explicitly how much Dutch expenses will go down (more that it will or not, hence the colors), it does provide a picture of how Canada's expenses responded almost 20 years earlier. The source chose Canada, as it was one of the Western economies that was struck relatively hard by the SARS pandemic. From that experience, the bank concludes, for example, that consumers bought more products in supermarkets in the first few months (February and March 2003) with expenses only going down around May 2003. Following this same pattern, and the potential effect of government measures in the Netherlands, the bank's economic model predicted that 46 percent of all household spending would be affected either in March directly or even in the following months of the COVID-19 outbreak.

This data is the daily case data on covid-19 cases in the Netherlands, published by the RIVM (national public health agency). The data covers all case data of August 2020.
The Covid19 Gender (In) equality Survey Netherlands (COGIS-NL) study began in April 2020 (wave 1) and examines differences in work, care and well-being between men and women in households with at least one child under 18 living at home and at least one working parent. Since June 2020, we also examine differences between men and women in families without children under the age of 18 living at home.
In July (wave 2, reporting on the situation in June), a total of 1229 respondents in 1013 households participated. All surveys are administered by CentERdata, located at Tilburg University, the Netherlands, using their LISS panel (Longitudinal Internet Studies for the Social Sciences, https://www.lissdata.nl). The LISS panel is a representative, online survey panel based on a true probability sample drawn by the Dutch National Statistics Office (CBS) from Dutch population registers. Our study was made possible by a grant from ODISSEI and the Faculty of Social Sciences at Utrecht University.
