    The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Census Blocks are statistical areas bounded on all sides by visible features, such as streets, roads, streams, and railroad tracks, and/or by nonvisible boundaries such as city, town, township, and county limits, and short line-of-sight extensions of streets and roads. Census blocks are relatively small in area; for example, a block in a city bounded by streets. However, census blocks in remote areas are often large and irregular and may even be many square miles in area. A common misunderstanding is that data users think census blocks are used geographically to build all other census geographic areas, rather all other census geographic areas are updated and then used as the primary constraints, along with roads and water features, to delineate the tabulation blocks. As a result, all 2020 Census blocks nest within every other 2020 Census geographic area, so that Census Bureau statistical data can be tabulated at the block level and aggregated up to the appropriate geographic areas. Census blocks cover all territory in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas (American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Voting district is the generic name for geographic entities such as precincts, wards, and election districts established by State governments for the purpose of conducting elections. States participating in the 2020 redistricting program as part of Public Law 94-171 (1975) provided the Census Bureau with boundaries, codes, and names for their VTDs. Voting districts do not exist for all states since some states did not participate in the program or chose not to submit boundaries for some of, or their entire, state. Each VTD is identified by a 1- to 6-character alphanumeric census code that is unique within county. The code "ZZZZZZ" identifies a portion of the county for which no VTDs were identified.

    This layer contains block level 2020 Decennial Census redistricting data as reported by the U.S. Census Bureau for the state of Ohio. The attributes come from the 2020 Public Law 94-171 (P.L. 94-171) tables.Data download date: August 12, 2021Census tables: P1, P2, P3, P4, H1, P5, HeaderDownloaded from: Census FTP siteProcessing Notes:Data was downloaded from the U.S. Census Bureau FTP site, imported into SAS format and joined to the 2020 TIGER boundaries. Boundaries are sourced from the 2020 TIGER/Line Geodatabases. Boundaries have been projected into Web Mercator and each attribute has been given a clear descriptive alias name.     Data from the 2020 Decennial Census cleaned and clipped to municipal boundaries within Stark County, Ohio. The U.S. Census Bureau provides numerous products relating to each decennial census. This data can be overwhelming to use, as it requires navigating various boundaries and dozens of tables that would otherwise need to be joined to those geometries. To make accessing 2020 data easier for our users, the Stark County Regional Planning Commission (SCRPC) put together these two layers. The blocks layer includes all census blocks within Stark County, as well as those in municipalities that extend into other counties. Each of the available tables were joined to those geometries to include demographic data. SCRPC cleaned the field names to make them more easily accessible and comprehensible to users. In addition to blocks, SCRPC consolidated block data for each city, village, and township within Stark County, including the cities and villages that extend beyond the county border. That layer provides demographic totals of the blocks within each of those communities.

For the 2020 Census, the State Data Centers (SDCs) in each state, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico had the opportunity to delineate PUMAS within their state or statistically equivalent entity. All PUMAs must nest within states and have a minimum population threshold of 100,000 persons. 2020 PUMAs consist of census tracts and cover the entirety of the United States, Puerto Rico and Guam. American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands do not contain any 2020 PUMAs because the population is less than the minimum population requirement. Each PUMA is identified by a five-character numeric census code that may contain leading zeros and a descriptive name.

    This resource is a member of a series. The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation.

    Census Blocks are statistical areas bounded on all sides by visible features, such as streets, roads, streams, and railroad tracks, and/or by nonvisible boundaries such as city, town, township, and county limits, and short line-of-sight extensions of streets and roads. Census blocks are relatively small in area; for example, a block in a city bounded by streets. However, census blocks in remote areas are often large and irregular and may even be many square miles in area. A common misunderstanding is that data users think census blocks are used geographically to build all other census geographic areas, rather all other census geographic areas are updated and then used as the primary constraints, along with roads and water features, to delineate the tabulation blocks. As a result, all 2020 Census blocks nest within every other 2020 Census geographic area, so that Census Bureau statistical data can be tabulated at the block level and aggregated up to the appropriate geographic areas. Census blocks cover all territory in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas (American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands).     The 2020 cartographic boundary shapefiles are simplified representations of selected geographic areas from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). These boundary files are specifically designed for small-scale thematic mapping. When possible, generalization is performed with the intent to maintain the hierarchical relationships among geographies and to maintain the alignment of geographies within a file set for a given year. Geographic areas may not align with the same areas from another year. Some geographies are available as nation-based files while others are available only as state-based files. Voting district is the generic name for geographic entities such as precincts, wards, and election districts established by State governments for the purpose of conducting elections. All PUMAs must nest within states and have a minimum population threshold of 100,000 persons. 2020 PUMAs consist of census tracts and cover the entirety of the United States, Puerto Rico and Guam.     Measurement technique
    The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. To measure the two variables, namely (a) population and (b) population as a percentage of the total population, we initially analyzed and categorized the data for each of the age groups. For age groups we divided it into roughly a 5 year bucket for ages between 0 and 85. For over 85, we aggregated data into a single group for all ages.     Context

    The dataset tabulates the Ohio town population distribution across 18 age groups. It lists the population in each age group along with the percentage population relative of the total population for Ohio town. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Ohio town by age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group in Ohio town.

    Key observations

    The largest age group in Ohio, New York was for the group of age 55 to 59 years years with a population of 124 (12.82%), according to the ACS 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.     County subdivisions are the primary divisions of counties and their equivalent entities for the reporting of Census Bureau data. They include legally-recognized minor civil divisions (MCDs) and statistical census county divisions (CCDs), and unorganized territories. For the 2010 Census, the MCDs are the primary governmental and/or administrative divisions of counties in 29 States and Puerto Rico; Tennessee changed from having CCDs for Census 2000 to having MCDs for the 2010 Census. In MCD States where no MCD exists or is not defined, the Census Bureau creates statistical unorganized territories to complete coverage. The entire area of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas are covered by county subdivisions.

    The boundaries of most legal MCDs are as of January 1, 2021, as reported through the Census Bureau's Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS). The boundaries of all CCDs, delineated in 21 states, are those as reported as part of the Census Bureau's Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP) for the 2020 Census.
