On July 21, Biden announced he was ending his bid for reelection, later endorsing Kamala Harris, who is the official Democratic nominee as of the Democratic National Convention in August. Although approval of Harris was once generally low, favorability of the vice president has spiked since announcing her presidential bid. Although the race is certainly closer since Harris began her campaign, polling has fluctuated, with support for Trump increasing just days before the election. National polling indicated that the two presidential hopefuls were 0.1 percentage points apart on November 4, 2024, making it nearly impossible to predict the results. While presidential polls are generally reliable in measuring national trends, they are not infallible, particularly in close races or predictions of Electoral College outcomes.
In 2023, the gross median household income for Asian households in the United States stood at 112,800 U.S. dollars. Median household income in the United States, of all racial and ethnic groups, came out to 80,610 U.S. dollars in 2023. Asian and Caucasian (white not Hispanic) households had relatively high median incomes, while the median income of Hispanic, Black, American Indian, and Alaskan Native households all came in lower than the national median. A number of related statistics illustrate further the current state of racial inequality in the United States. Unemployment is highest among Black or African American individuals in the U.S. with 8.6 percent unemployed, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2021. Hispanic individuals (of any race) were most likely to go without health insurance as of 2021, with 22.8 percent uninsured.
In 2024, unionized and non-unionized Asian workers had the highest median weekly earnings in the United States at 1,533 and 1,445 U.S. dollars respectively. While the wages of other unionized racial and ethnic minorities are around 200 dollars per week higher than their non-unionized counterparts, racial wage inequalities appear to persist across union membership. Unionized white workers for example, earn a median weekly income of 1,375 U.S. dollars, while unionized Black workers earn around an average of 1,130 U.S. dollars per week.
In 2021, political advertising revenue in the United States amounted to 2.5 billion U.S. dollars. In comparison, in 2022 ad revenue is forecast to be five times bigger due to the scheduled elections. Correspondingly, political ad revenue for 2024 and 2026 is expected to grow even higher - respectively to 15.2 and 16.8 billion U.S. dollars, indicating the increasing importance of political elections' promotion in the country.
American adults with low or middle income were more likely to use BNPL than adults with higher incomes. This is according to an annual household survey in the United States, that asked about how and why consumers would be using the alternative payment option. ***** percent of respondents who had an income of 100,000 U.S. dollars or more used buy now, pay later. This was noticeably different from all other income levels, where ** percent of respondents said they used BNPL. The source observed major difference between races, with Black and Hispanic users being significantly more common than White or Asian users.

White workers in all earning percentiles had a higher wage than Black or Latino people. Considering that the housing wages for one- and two-bedroom housing were 26.74 and 32.11 U.S. dollars, respectively, not all earners in the 70th percentile and lower could afford housing. In fact, only white renters in the 50th and 60th could afford a one-bedroom apartment that year. Moreover, while only Black renters in the 70th percentile could afford one-bedroom housing, white renters were able to afford both. However, for a Latino worker making a wage at the 70th percentile, even a one-bedroom unit was not affordable.

Poverty data Despite being one of the wealthiest nations in the world, the United States had the third highest poverty rate out of all OECD countries in 2019. However, the United States' poverty rate has been fluctuating since 1990, but has been decreasing since 2014. The average median household income in the U.S. has remained somewhat consistent since 1990, but has recently increased since 2014 until a slight decrease in 2020, potentially due to the pandemic. The state that had the highest number of people living below the poverty line in 2020 was California.
