Reliable information concerning where water is used, how water is used, the quantity of water used, and changes in water use over time is key in making informed water-resources management decisions. Although projections of water-use estimates are subject to a variety of contingencies, ranging from natural disasters such as droughts and floods to economic booms or disruptions, they provide a basis for planners to evaluate the adequacy of water resources to meet future needs. During 2007, the State of Tennessee experienced a drought that limited water supply to several of the utility systems. As a result, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Division of Water Resources (TDEC–DWR), entered into an agreement to evaluate 2010 water-use information and produce estimates of future water use in Tennessee. Estimates of water use for public supply were projected in 10-year increments through 2030 and were based on 2010 public-supply water data and population projections for 2020 through 2030. This data release includes water-use data for public-supply water systems obtained from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Division of Water Resources; U.S. Census Population Data from the U.S. Census Bureau for 2010, and population projections from the Center for Business and Economic Research in Tennessee. Data in this release were used to support the projections and trends analyses published in the companion report Robinson (20##). This layer was developed by the Research & Analytics Division of the Atlanta Regional Commission from ARC's Regional Plan Update to show population forecasts by census tract for the Atlanta region.Attributes:GEOID10 = The entire Federal Information Processing Series (FIPS) code for this geography. FIPS codes were formerly known as Federal Information Processing Standards codes, until the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) announced its decision in 2005 to remove geographic entity codes from its oversight. The Census Bureau continues to maintain and issue codes for geographic entities covered under FIPS oversight, albeit with a revised meaning for the FIPS acronym. Geographic entities covered under FIPS include states, counties, congressional districts, core based statistical areas, places, county subdivisions, subminor civil divisions, consolidated cities, and all types of American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian areas. FIPS codes are assigned alphabetically according to the name of the geographic entity and may change to maintain alphabetic sort when new entities are created or names change. See the total EU population figures for more information. The global population The global population is rapidly increasing. Between 1990 and 2015, it increased by around 2 billion people. Furthermore, it is estimated that the global population will have increased by another 1 billion by 2030. Asia is the continent with the largest population, followed by Africa and Europe. In Asia,the two most populous nations worldwide are located, China and India. In 2014, the combined population in China and India alone amounted to more than 2.6 billion people. for comparison, the total population in the whole continent of Europe is at around 741 million people. As of 2014, about 60 percent of the global population was living in Asia, with only approximately 10 percent in Europe and even less in the United States. Europe is the continent with the second-highest life expectancy at birth in the world, only barely surpassed by Northern America. In 2013, the life expectancy at birth in Europe was around 78 years. Stable economies and developing and emerging markets in European countries provide for good living conditions. Seven of the top twenty countries in the world with the largest gross domestic product in 2015 are located in Europe.

Canada has a relatively high life expectancy compared to many other international countries, earning a spot in the top 20 countries and beating out countries such as the United States and the UK. From an economic standpoint, Canada has been slowly recovering from the 2008 financial crisis. Unemployment has gradually decreased, after reaching a decade high in 2009. Additionally, GDP has dramatically increased since 2009 and is expected to continue to increase for the next several years.
Adequate water resources are vital for municipal needs in the Cumberland River watershed. As a result of continuing population growth, moderate to extreme droughts and floods, demands for competing water resources, and aging infrastructure, the evaluation of ongoing water-resources issues has become increasingly important to Federal, State, and local water-resources managers. In order to assist local decision makers in the watershed, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) began a study in 2013 to document groundwater and surface-water withdrawals. Estimates of water use for public supply were projected in 10-year increments through 2040 and were based on 2010 public supply water data and population projections for 2020 through 2040. The data for public supply water systems located in Tennessee were obtained from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Division of Water Resources. The data for public-supply water systems located in Kentucky were obtained from the USGS office in Louisville, Kentucky. This dataset includes U.S. Census Population Data from the U.S. Census Bureau for 2000 and 2010; population projections from the Center for Business and Economic Research in Tennessee; and population projections from the Kentucky State Data Center for 2020, 2030, and 2040. Also included is a sample calculation of water-use projections in 2020, 2030, and 2040 for one of the public-supply systems in the Cumberland River watershed; Franklin Water Department - Franklin, Williamson County, Tennessee. The capital of Saudi Arabia and the biggest city, Ar-Riyad, is home to about five million inhabitants. However, the high number of illegal immigrants in Saudi Arabia also accounts for the total population. More awareness to health risks and better living conditions have increased the life expectancy at birth in Saudi Arabia by about 3 years in the last decade. With a rapidly growing total population, it has grown by around 8 million inhabitants over the past decade, the government has set some rules to avoid overcrowding and overpopulation. The fertility rate in Saudi has steadily decreased over the past years in order to attempt to control the rapidly growing population.

Effects of overpopulation Alongside the growing worldwide population, there are negative effects of overpopulation. The increasing population puts a higher pressure on existing resources and contributes to pollution. As the population grows, the demand for food grows, which requires more water, which in turn takes away from the freshwater available. Concurrently, food needs to be transported through different mechanisms, which contributes to air pollution. Not every resource is renewable, meaning the world is using up limited resources that will eventually run out. Furthermore, more species will become extinct which harms the ecosystem and food chain. Overpopulation was considered to be one of the most important environmental issues worldwide in 2020.
