    Description

    Tissue section of human prostate containing adenocarcinoma that has been immunostained for the cell-surface antigen CD90. Nuclei are stained in blue. This image is part of a large collection of images generated from numerous specimens to characterize the distribution of CD90 in human prostate tissue. It was noted in Liu et al. (Am J Pathol 165 (2004) 1543-1556) that stromal fibromuscular cells associated with primary prostate cancer differ from stromal cells in benign prostate tissue by an increased level of expression of the cell activation molecule, CD90.     The table indicates the percent of each cell type with the indicated staining intensity. Staining intensity levels were classified as intense, equivocal (weak or very focal) or none. Not all of the cell types and staining patterns are visible in each image.

    This image is part of a large collection of immunohistochemistry images of cell-surface antigens generated by the SCGAP Urologic Epithelial Stem Cells (UESC) Project. The overall goal of the project is to characterize and isolate epithelial stem cell populations from two urologic organs, the prostate and bladder. Links are provided below for the UESC Project database, the entire human prostate immunostain summary, the CD90 immunostain summary, and information on the specimen that this image is from. Other images of CD90 human prostate immunostains are accessible following the group link.

    Description

    Contains questionnaire data and the supplementary materials for the upcoming publication: Wright, D, Kenny, A., Mizen, L.A.M., McKechanie, A.G., & Stanfield, A.G. 'The behavioural profile of SYNGAP1-related Intellectual Disability' This study aimed to describe the behavioural profile of individuals with SYNGAP1-ID. Parents/carers of 30 individuals aged 3-18 years old with a diagnosis of SYNGAP1-ID and 21 typically-developing individuals completed the Vineland-3 Adaptive Behaviour Scale and the Child Behavior Checklist. We found that those with SYNGAP1-ID showed fewer adaptive behaviours and higher levels of internalising and externalising behaviours across almost all domains compared to typically developing controls. There was some evidence that these differences were greatest in older children, and more apparent in those with co-occuring epilepsy. This characterisation of the phenotype of SYNGAP1-ID significantly aids our understanding of the behavioural profile of this population and is a step towards the development of tailored interventions.
