This service displays the location of all tanks registered with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MEDEP). Locations are linked to the MEDEP TANKS database and are updated nightly. It contains locations for both aboveground (AST) and belowground (UST) tanks. The state tanks registration database is overseen by staff from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MEDEP). All GIS data within this layer is managed by the MEDEP GIS Unit located in Augusta, Maine. The method of location collection for each tank can be found in the Location_Method field. Estimated accuracy of each tank is found in the Location_Accuracy field, while the Data_Source contains the group who collected the tank location.This service consists of a spatial points layer and a related table. When downloading this service for use in a GIS, both parts should be downloaded. To reestablish the relate in GIS, use the field MASTER_TANK_ID in both the spatial layer (Registered Tanks) and the table (TANKS_CHAMBER_MVIEW). The spatial layer (Registered Tanks) can be used stand-alone. The related table contains details on tank chamber size and fuel type stored.
