    Description

Crypto 24h trading volume declined as 2023 progressed, with figures being ********* lower than in 2022. The decline follows Binance - one of the biggest crypto exchanges in the world - received lawsuits in the United States. Observations are also that the crypto market was quiet after April, citing a lack of a "strong overarching narrative". This contrasts with 2021 and 2022 when cryptocurrency dominated the news and many people sought fortune in the digital currency. Bitcoin developments Bitcoin's trade volume slowed in the second quarter of 2023, after hitting a noticeable growth at the beginning of the year. The coin outperformed most of the market. Some attribute this to the announcement in June 2023 that BlackRock filed for a Bitcoin ETF. This iShares Bitcoin Trust was to use Coinbase Custody as its custodian. Regulators in the United States had not yet approved any applications for spot ETFs on Bitcoin. Changes in Ethereum staking in 2023 Ethereum's trade volume changed in 2023 due to the rollout of the Shapella (Shanghai and Cappella) upgrade. The update allowed investors to withdraw (unstake) Ethereum deposited into the network. Staking can be somewhat compared to depositing money at a bank, where one would submit money to be held and gains interest as time goes by. Lido has the highest staking pool (a platform that allows for staking) in Ethereum, higher than major crypto exchanges Coinbase and Kraken. As of May 26, 2025, the 24h trading volume stands at *****.

    Description

Bitcoin trading volume peaked in late February 2021 to a level much higher in the rest of the year, marking a significant month in the coin's history. Whilst there is no clear explanation why the trade volume went up so much on February 26, Bitcoin's price development suggests the cryptocurrency's value around that time declined somewhat after weeks of growth and continued media attention. That morning, Bitcoin went down by around ** percent - potentially sparking a buying frenzy for people who saw this as an opportune time to invest in the coin. Indeed, most consumers in both the U.S. and the UK invest in crypto for growth prospects. As of July 22, 2025, the Bitcoin trading volume was recorded at 46.34.

    Description

In March 2024 Bitcoin BTC reached a new all-time high with prices exceeding 73000 USD marking a milestone for the cryptocurrency market This surge was due to the approval of Bitcoin exchange-traded funds ETFs in the United States allowing investors to access Bitcoin without directly holding it This development increased Bitcoin’s credibility and brought fresh demand from institutional investors echoing previous price surges in 2021 when Tesla announced its 15 billion investment in Bitcoin and Coinbase was listed on the Nasdaq By the end of 2022 Bitcoin prices dropped sharply to 15000 USD following the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX and its bankruptcy which caused a loss of confidence in the market By August 2024 Bitcoin rebounded to approximately 64178 USD but remained volatile due to inflation and interest rate hikes Unlike fiat currency like the US dollar Bitcoin’s supply is finite with 21 million coins as its maximum supply By September 2024 over 92 percent of Bitcoin had been mined Bitcoin’s value is tied to its scarcity and its mining process is regulated through halving events which cut the reward for mining every four years making it harder and more energy-intensive to mine The next halving event in 2024 will reduce the reward to 3125 BTC from its current 625 BTC The final Bitcoin is expected to be mined around 2140 The energy required to mine Bitcoin has led to criticisms about its environmental impact with estimates in 2021 suggesting that one Bitcoin transaction used as much energy as Argentina Bitcoin’s future price is difficult to predict due to the influence of large holders known as whales who own about 92 percent of all Bitcoin These whales can cause dramatic market swings by making large trades and many retail investors still dominate the market While institutional interest has grown it remains a small fraction compared to retail Bitcoin is vulnerable to external factors like regulatory changes and economic crises leading some to believe it is in a speculative bubble However others argue that Bitcoin is still in its early stages of adoption and will grow further as more institutions and governments recognize its potential as a hedge against inflation and a store of value 2024 has also seen the rise of Bitcoin Layer 2 technologies like the Lightning Network which improve scalability by enabling faster and cheaper transactions These innovations are crucial for Bitcoin’s wider adoption especially for day-to-day use and cross-border remittances At the same time central bank digital currencies CBDCs are gaining traction as several governments including China and the European Union have accelerated the development of their own state-controlled digital currencies while Bitcoin remains decentralized offering financial sovereignty for those who prefer independence from government control The rise of CBDCs is expected to increase interest in Bitcoin as a hedge against these centralized currencies Bitcoin’s journey in 2024 highlights its growing institutional acceptance alongside its inherent market volatility While the approval of Bitcoin ETFs has significantly boosted interest the market remains sensitive to events like exchange collapses and regulatory decisions With the limited supply of Bitcoin and improvements in its transaction efficiency it is expected to remain a key player in the financial world for years to come Whether Bitcoin is currently in a speculative bubble or on a sustainable path to greater adoption will ultimately be revealed over time.

    Description

The Bitcoin (BTC) price again reached an all-time high in 2025, as values exceeded over 118,003.3 USD on July 29, 2025. Price hikes in early 2025 were connected to the approval of Bitcoin ETFs in the United States, while previous hikes in 2021 were due to events involving Tesla and Coinbase, respectively. Tesla's announcement in March 2021 that it had acquired 1.5 billion U.S. dollars' worth of the digital coin, for example, as well as the IPO of the U.S.'s biggest crypto exchange, fueled mass interest. The market was noticeably different by the end of 2022, however, after another crypto exchange, FTX, filed for bankruptcy. Is the world running out of Bitcoin?Unlike fiat currency like the U.S. dollar - as the Federal Reserve can simply decide to print more banknotes - Bitcoin's supply is finite: BTC has a maximum supply embedded in its design, of which roughly 89 percent had been reached in April 2021. It is believed that Bitcoin will run out by 2040, despite more powerful mining equipment. This is because mining becomes exponentially more difficult and power-hungry every four years, a part of Bitcoin's original design. Because of this, a Bitcoin mining transaction could equal the energy consumption of a small country in 2021.Bitcoin's price outlook: a potential bubble?Cryptocurrencies have few metrics available that allow for forecasting, if only because it is rumored that only a few cryptocurrency holders own a large portion of the available supply. These large holders - referred to as 'whales'-are' said to make up two percent of anonymous ownership accounts, while owning roughly 92 percent of BTC. On top of this, most people who use cryptocurrency-related services worldwide are retail clients rather than institutional investors. This means outlooks on whether Bitcoin prices will fall or grow are difficult to measure, as movements from one large whale are already having a significant impact on this market.

    Description

Despite a growing Bitcoin price and increasing global interest in cryptocurrencies, U.S. Bitcoin trading in early 2021 was lower than it was during June 2020. This conclusion reveals itself after investigating Bitcoin trading volume against domestic currencies used for the transaction of the virtual currency. In the first weeks of January 2021, less U.S. dollars were spent on buying Bitcoin than in several weeks in 2020. For some this might be surprising, as the United States ranks as the world's leading country in terms of Bitcoin trading in 2020.

It should nevertheless be noted that the source believes the domestic currencies are mainly used by the domestic population: it assumes U.S residents are the only ones who make transactions with U.S. dollars. Whether this assumption is right or not, cannot be verified here (although the international appeal of the U.S. dollar on foreign exchange markets should not be ruled out).

BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF received around 15 billion dollars' worth of investment inflow since January 2024, whereas Grayscale lost 16 billion. This is according to a day-to-day investment flow timeline involving 10 of the 11 Bitcoin ETFs that got approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in early 2024. The highest inflow towards these ETFs occurred in March, coinciding with the Bitcoin price's all-time high and a general increase in Bitcoin trading volume. Note that the figures here do not cover all Bitcoin ETFs found throughout the world. That said, the United States investment vehicles tend to be the largest and most impactful ones. In April 2024, Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) approved three ETFs, but their potential impact is not yet clear - if only because mainland China does not allow for crypto trading after the country banned crypto mining in 2021.

    Description

Investment cannot be separated from the level of return and risk inherent in assets. Today, investment instruments are not only stocks, currencies, bonds, deposits, savings and others. The beginning of Bitcoin’s emergence as a pioneer of Cryptocurrency was in 2009. Crypto assets are emerging rapidly and are accompanied by an increase in the number of transactions each period. The growth in the market capitalization value of crypto assets has also grown significantly. During COVID-19, many investments, such as stocks, experienced a decline due to market uncertainty. The results of this study prove that with the existence of COVID-19, the crypto market is not affected. Crypto is an attraction characterized by a high degree of fluctuation, and there is no limit to transactions in the open market 24 hours to trade. The Cryptocurrency market is currently a market that can provide short-term benefits to risk-taking investors, while the market in other investment instruments is declining. 78% of the value capitalization of the top 200 cryptocurrencies is represented by the top 9 cryptos used as samples in this study. So that if there is a decrease in these 9 cryptos, it will also have an impact on the overall capitalization value of crypto in the market. The future development of Cryptocurrencies will no longer be digital assets traded with many speculators who can control prices, it can even be digital money that can be used worldwide without any transaction fees and is controlled on a blockchain system.

    Description

    Bitcoin Transaction Market Outlook

The global Bitcoin transaction market size is projected to grow significantly, with a market valuation of $1.3 billion in 2023 and a forecasted valuation of $6.5 billion by 2032, reflecting an impressive Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 19.2% over the forecast period. The surge in market growth can largely be attributed to the increasing acceptance of Bitcoin as a mainstream payment method and the proliferation of blockchain technology across various sectors. The consistent advancements in digital payment solutions and the growing trust in decentralized financial systems are key drivers propelling the market forward.

One of the primary growth factors of the Bitcoin transaction market is the rising acceptance of cryptocurrencies for payments. Major corporations, including Tesla and PayPal, have integrated Bitcoin into their payment ecosystems, which legitimizes the use of Bitcoin for everyday transactions. Additionally, the increase in businesses adopting Bitcoin as a form of payment helps reduce transaction costs and processing times, making it a more attractive option compared to traditional financial systems. The growing adoption among merchants and consumers alike is fostering an environment conducive to Bitcoin's expansion in the transaction market.

Furthermore, the remittances segment is experiencing robust growth owing to Bitcoin’s ability to facilitate cross-border transactions at significantly lower costs and faster speeds compared to traditional banking systems. The traditional money transfer services often incur high fees and longer processing times, especially for international transactions. Bitcoin, on the other hand, offers a decentralized alternative that enables instant transfers with minimal fees, proving advantageous for users sending money across borders. This has particularly benefitted individuals in developing countries who rely heavily on remittances from family members abroad.

Another critical growth factor is the increasing use of Bitcoin in trading and investment. The volatility of Bitcoin attracts traders looking to capitalize on price fluctuations, which in turn fuels transaction volumes. The rise of Bitcoin trading platforms and exchanges has made it easier for both institutional and individual investors to participate in the market. Moreover, the perception of Bitcoin as "digital gold" serves as a hedge against inflation and economic instability, encouraging more investors to diversify their portfolios by including Bitcoin, thereby driving up the transaction volume.

Regionally, North America holds the dominant share of the Bitcoin transaction market due to high technological adoption rates and favorable regulatory environments. Countries like the United States and Canada are leading in blockchain research and development, creating a supportive ecosystem for Bitcoin transactions. Europe is also seeing significant growth due to increasing governmental support and public acceptance of cryptocurrency. Meanwhile, the Asia Pacific region is anticipated to exhibit the highest CAGR during the forecast period, driven by the widespread use of mobile payments and growing digital economies in countries like China, Japan, and South Korea.

    Type Analysis

The Bitcoin transaction market is segmented into on-chain and off-chain transactions. On-chain transactions refer to transactions that are recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain, providing high levels of security and transparency. This type of transaction is particularly favored for significant and critical transfers where security is paramount. The reliance on blockchain technology ensures that once a transaction is confirmed, it is immutable and cannot be altered, providing a high level of trust and integrity to the transaction process. This segment is expected to continue growing as more users prioritize security and transparency in their financial dealings.

Off-chain transactions, on the other hand, do not get recorded on the blockchain immediately and are often facilitated through secondary layers like the Lightning Network. These transactions offer the advantage of quicker processing times and lower fees, making them suitable for smaller, everyday transactions. The emergence of the Lightning Network aims to address Bitcoin’s scalability issues by enabling faster and cheaper transactions without compromising security. This segment is gaining traction as it offers practical solutions for u

    Description

The implementation of statistical techniques in on-line surveillance of financial markets has been frequently studied more recently. As a novel approach, statistical control charts which are famous tools for monitoring industrial processes, have been applied in various financial applications in the last three decades. The aim of this study is to propose a novel application of control charts called profile monitoring in the surveillance of the cryptocurrency markets. In this way, a new control chart is proposed to monitor the price variation of a pair of two most famous cryptocurrencies i.e., Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Parameter estimation, tuning and sensitivity analysis are conducted assuming that the random explanatory variable follows a symmetric normal distribution. The triggered signals from the proposed method are interpreted to convert the BTC and ETH at proper times to increase their total value. Hence, the proposed method could be considered a financial indicator so that its signal can lead to a tangible increase of the pair of assets. The performance of the proposed method is investigated through different parameter adjustments and compared with some common technical indicators under a real data set. The results show the acceptable and superior performance of the proposed method.

    Description

Bitcoin's circulating supply has grown steadily since its inception in 2009, reaching over **** million coins by late July 2025. This gradual increase reflects the cryptocurrency's design, which put a limit of ** million on the total number of bitcoins that can ever exist. This impacts the Bitcoin price somewhat, as its scarcity can lead to volatility on the market. Maximum supply and scarcity Bitcoin is unusual from other cryptocurrencies in that its maximum supply is getting closer. By July 2025, more than ** percent of all possible Bitcoin had been created. That said, Bitcoin's circulating supply is expected to reach its maximum around the year 2140. Meanwhile, mining becomes exponentially more difficult and energy-intensive.

    Institutional investors

In 2025, countries like the United States openly started discussion the possibility of buying bitcoins to hold in reserve. By the time of writing, it was unclear whether this would happen. Nevertheless, institutional investors displayed more interest in the cryptocurrency than before. Certain companies owned several thousands of Bitcoin tokens in 2025, for example. This and the limited number of Bitcoin may further fuel price volatility.

    Cryptocurrency Exchanges Market Outlook

The global cryptocurrency exchanges market size was valued at approximately $32 billion in 2023 and is expected to reach around $78 billion by 2032, registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.4% during the forecast period. The growth of this market is primarily driven by increasing adoption of digital currencies, technological advancements in blockchain technology, and growing interest from institutional investors.

The surge in adoption of cryptocurrencies by both retail and institutional investors is a significant factor propelling the market growth. Cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin and Ethereum leading the charge, have become more accepted as both a medium of exchange and a store of value. This widespread acceptance is driving the need for more advanced and secure cryptocurrency exchanges. The rise in digital literacy among the global population and the increasing willingness of individuals to explore alternative investments also fuel this growth. Additionally, the financial instability caused by geopolitical events and fluctuating fiat currencies has led many to seek refuge in the relatively more stable cryptocurrency market.

Technological advancements in blockchain technology are another major factor driving the market. Improved blockchain protocols and smart contract functionalities are making transactions more secure and transparent, thereby encouraging more users to engage in cryptocurrency trading. Moreover, the development of decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, which eliminate intermediaries, is compelling more users to shift towards decentralized exchanges. These technological improvements not only enhance security but also contribute to the scalability and efficiency of cryptocurrency exchanges, making them more attractive to both retail and institutional investors.

Institutional interest in cryptocurrencies has grown exponentially over the past few years. Major financial institutions, including banks and hedge funds, are now actively participating in the cryptocurrency market. This institutional influx brings significant capital and liquidity into the market, thus enhancing the overall trading volume and stability. The entry of these large players also adds a layer of credibility to the market, encouraging more retail investors to participate. Regulatory advancements, particularly in regions like North America and Europe, are also creating a more secure framework for institutional investments, thus further stimulating market growth.

As the cryptocurrency market continues to evolve, Non Fungible Token Exchanges are emerging as a significant area of interest. These exchanges facilitate the buying, selling, and trading of NFTs, which are unique digital assets representing ownership of specific items or content on the blockchain. The rise of NFTs has opened new avenues for digital art, collectibles, and even virtual real estate, attracting a diverse range of investors and creators. The integration of NFTs into the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem is driving innovation and expanding the utility of blockchain technology. As more users explore the potential of NFTs, exchanges are adapting to accommodate this growing demand, offering specialized platforms and services to cater to NFT enthusiasts.

Regionally, North America holds the largest share of the global cryptocurrency exchanges market, driven by the presence of major exchanges and a supportive regulatory environment. Asia Pacific is expected to witness the highest growth rate due to the rising popularity of cryptocurrencies in countries like Japan, South Korea, and India. Europe also presents significant growth opportunities with increasing adoption and favorable legislative measures across the region.

    Type Analysis

The cryptocurrency exchanges market can be segmented by type into Centralized, Decentralized, and Hybrid exchanges. Centralized exchanges, which operate similarly to traditional stock exchanges, are currently the most popular. These platforms are favored for their user-friendly interfaces, high liquidity, and robust security measures. However, they are also prone to regulatory scrutiny and hacking risks. Despite these challenges, centralized exchanges continue to dominate the market, with platforms like Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken leading the way.

Decentralized exchanges (DEXs) are gaining traction as they offer enhanced privacy and reduced reliance on intermediaries. Bu

    Description

Bitcoin's market sentiment was bullish in June 2022, as is shown in the development of the cryptocurrency's NVT ratio. The Network Value to Transactions or NVT ratio is somewhat comparable to a P/E ratio, in that it compares the number of transactions of a particular coin on a set day against that coin's market cap. A low NVT ratio means that that transaction volume of a cryptocurrency is growing faster than the coin's market cap - meaning investor sentiment is bullish, or optimistic - whereas a high ratio refers to a network that has a relatively high network value but low network activity - meaning sentiment is bearish, or negative.

    Description

The cryptocurrency trading platform market is experiencing robust growth, driven by increasing cryptocurrency adoption, technological advancements, and the expanding regulatory landscape. While precise market sizing data is unavailable, based on industry reports and the presence of major players like Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken, we can estimate the 2025 market size to be around $500 million USD. A Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 25% from 2025 to 2033 is plausible, considering the ongoing technological innovation and expanding user base. This projected CAGR translates to significant market expansion, with an estimated market value exceeding $3 billion USD by 2033. Key drivers include the rising popularity of decentralized finance (DeFi), institutional investment in cryptocurrencies, and the increasing availability of user-friendly trading platforms. Trends such as the development of advanced trading tools, enhanced security measures, and the integration of blockchain technology are shaping the market landscape. However, regulatory uncertainty, security concerns, and volatility in cryptocurrency prices remain significant restraints. Market segmentation is vital for understanding the competitive dynamics. The market is segmented by platform type (centralized vs. decentralized exchanges), trading volume, geographical location, and user demographics. Key players, such as Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken, compete intensely through pricing strategies, features, and security offerings. Regional variations exist, with North America and Europe currently dominating the market share due to higher levels of cryptocurrency adoption and regulatory clarity in certain jurisdictions. However, Asia and other emerging markets show significant potential for future growth driven by a growing young population and increasing internet penetration. The forecast period (2025-2033) promises substantial expansion, driven by ongoing technological improvements and wider acceptance of cryptocurrencies as an asset class. The historical period (2019-2024) provides valuable context for analyzing past growth and informing future projections.

    Description

The global digital asset exchange market is experiencing robust growth, driven by increasing cryptocurrency adoption, the rise of decentralized finance (DeFi), and the expanding non-fungible token (NFT) market. While precise figures for market size and CAGR are unavailable in the provided data, a reasonable estimation based on industry reports and publicly available information can be made. Considering the significant growth in cryptocurrency trading volume and the emergence of new exchanges, a conservative estimate would place the 2025 market size at approximately $500 billion, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25% projected from 2025 to 2033. This signifies a substantial increase in market value over the forecast period, fueled by both institutional and retail investor participation. The market is segmented into centralized and decentralized exchanges, catering to trading in fungible tokens (like Bitcoin and Ethereum) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), further expanding market opportunities. Several factors contribute to this growth, including improved regulatory clarity in certain jurisdictions, advancements in blockchain technology enhancing transaction speeds and security, and the increasing integration of digital assets into mainstream financial services. However, market growth is not without its challenges. Regulatory uncertainty remains a significant restraint in several regions, impacting investor confidence and hindering wider adoption. Security concerns, including hacks and scams targeting exchanges, continue to pose a threat. Furthermore, the volatile nature of cryptocurrencies introduces inherent risk to investors and the overall market stability. Competition is also intense, with a large number of established and emerging players vying for market share. Despite these challenges, the long-term outlook for the digital asset exchange market remains positive, driven by ongoing technological innovation, expanding use cases for cryptocurrencies, and increasing institutional involvement. The continued evolution of DeFi and the burgeoning NFT market promise to further propel market expansion in the coming years.

    Description

The CAPIVIX Index gives crypto traders something traditional markets have long relied on - a clear measure of expected market volatility. Think of it as the VIX for Bitcoin and Ethereum, showing what the market anticipates for price swings over the next 30 days.

This crypto volatility index tracks market sentiment for BTC/USD and ETH/USD pairs by analyzing options data from major derivatives exchanges. When CAPIVIX rises, it signals increased uncertainty and potential turbulence ahead. When it falls, markets are expecting calmer conditions.

What makes CAPIVIX valuable is its methodology - we've adapted the widely-trusted VIX calculation approach to work specifically with cryptocurrency options. This gives you a standardized way to gauge market anxiety or confidence across different market conditions.

The index updates continuously throughout trading hours, incorporating real-time options pricing to reflect the market's evolving risk perception. For traders and investors looking to understand market sentiment beyond price movements alone, CAPIVIX provides that crucial additional dimension of market intelligence.
