The question is intended to capture data for biological sex, not gender. Respondents are supposed to respond with the answer as either of Male or Female. Our research and this dataset mirrors the data reported as Male and Female for gender distribution analysis. No further analysis is done on the data reported from the Census Bureau.

    Variables / Data Columns

    • Gender: This column displays the Gender (Male / Female)
    • Population: The population of the gender in the Travelers Rest is shown in this column.
    • % of Total Population: This column displays the percentage distribution of each gender as a proportion of Travelers Rest total population. Please note that the sum of all percentages may not equal one due to rounding of values.

    Good to know

    Margin of Error

Data in the dataset are based on the estimates and are subject to sampling variability and thus a margin of error. Neilsberg Research recommends using caution when presening these estimates in your research.

    Description

Please note that following the release of National Travel Survey 2012, the following publication may contain information that subsequently has been revised.

The National Travel Survey presents statistics on personal travel in Great Britain during 2010. It contains the latest results and trends on how, why, when and where people travel as well as factors which affect personal travel such as car availability, driving licence holding and access to key services.

    Update

On 6 October 2011, a set of tables showing NTS results by region, country and area type were published. These tables all have the table name format of nts99xx.

It is necessary to combine survey year data together when producing NTS results for geographic areas below that of Great Britain due to small sample sizes.

    Main results

There has been a steady falling trend in trip rates since 1995. Average distance travelled per person per year remained relatively stable until 2007, but has declined slightly over the last three years.

Between 1995 and 2010, overall trips rates fell by 12%. Trips by private modes of transport fell by 14% while public transport modes increased by 8%. Walking trips saw the largest decrease.

Most of the decline in overall trips rates between 1995, 1997 and 2010 can be accounted for by a fall in shopping and visiting friends.

    In 2010:

    • an average of 960 trips per person per year, the lowest level since the mid 1970s. There were 1,061 stages, 6,726 miles travelled, and an average trip length of 7.0 miles
    • 80% of males and 66% of females held a full car driving licence. While the proportion of males holding a licence remained fairly stable since the early 1990’s, the proportion of females with a licence continued to increase
    • trips by car (as a driver or passenger) accounted for 64% of all trips made and 78% of distance travelled
    • on average, females make more trips than males, but males travel much further each year
    • concessionary travel pass take up was 78% of those eligible
    • average annual car mileage was estimated to be 8,430 miles

Further information including the technical report, standard error estimates for 2009 and the UKSA assessment can be found at the National Travel Survey page.

    Description

This workbook provides data and data dictionaries for the SFMTA 2017 Travel Decision Survey. On behalf of San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), Corey, Canapary & Galanis (CC&G) undertook a Mode Share Survey within the City and County of San Francisco as well as the eight surrounding Bay Area counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo, Marin, Santa Clara, Napa, Sonoma and Solano. The primary goals of this study were to: • Assess percent mode share for travel in San Francisco for evaluation of the SFMTA Strategic Objective 2.3: Mode Share target of 50% non-private auto travel by FY2018 with a 95% confidence level and MOE +/- 5% or less. • Evaluate the above statement based on the following parameters: number of trips to, from, and within San Francisco by Bay Area residents. Trips by visitors to the Bay Area and for commercial purposes are not included. • Provide additional trip details, including trip purpose for each trip in the mode share question series. • Collect demographic data on the population of Bay Area residents who travel to, from, and within San Francisco. • Collect data on travel behavior and opinions that support other SFMTA strategy and project evaluation needs. The survey was conducted as a telephone study among 804 Bay Area residents aged 18 and older. Interviewing was conducted in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Tagalog. Surveying was conducted via random digit dial (RDD) and cell phone sample. All survey datasets incorporate respondent weighting based on age and home location; utilize the “weight” field when appropriate in your analysis. The survey period for this survey is as follows: 2017: February - April 2017 The margin of error is related to sample size (n). For the total sample, the margin of error is 3.4% for a confidence level of 95%. When looking at subsets of the data, such as just the SF population, just the female population, or just the population of people who bicycle, the sample size decreases and the margin of error increases. Below is a guide of the margin of error for different samples sizes. Be cautious in making conclusions based off of small sample sizes. At the 95% confidence level is: • n = 804(Total Sample). Margin of error = +/- 3.4% • n = 400. Margin of error = +/- 4.85% • n = 100. Margin of error = +/- 9.80%

    Description

The National Travel Survey (NTS) contains the latest results and trends on how and why people travel with breakdowns by age, gender and income. It also contains trends in driving licence holding, school travel and concessionary travel. The personal travel statistics are for travel within Great Britain during 2013 by residents of England.

    Main results

In 2013, on average, each person:

    • made 923 trips per year, the lowest trip rate recorded
    • travelled 6,584 miles per year, 6% lower than in 1995
    • spent around an hour a day travelling (364 hours)

The largest downward contributions to the decrease in trips rates have come from two transport modes: walking and car (as a driver or passenger). However, these two transport modes still accounted for 86% of all trips in 2013.

The largest falls by trip purpose were for shopping, visiting friends and commuting trips. In 2013, shopping accounted for 20% of all trips.

81% of men had a full car driving licence in 2013 compared with 68% of women. For people aged between 17 and 20, 31% had a full car driving licence compared with 85% of those aged between 40 and 49.

People in the highest income quintile group travelled nearly over two times further than those in the lowest income quintile group.

    Description

A number of files in the statistical data set pages accompanying this release were published prematurely in error for a brief period, due to a technical problem. These files were removed from the website as soon as the error became known.

The NTS contains the latest results and trends on how and why people travel with breakdowns by age, gender and income. It also contains trends in driving licence holding; school travel; and concessionary travel.

    Update - 19 September 2013

An error has been found in the data processing and calculation of household income quintiles. This error affects the NTS 2012 Statistical Release and tables NTS0703 to NTS0705. The error has been corrected and the affected Statistical Release and tables have been revised. We apologise for this error and any inconvenience caused by it.

    Main results

Over the long term, trip rates increased until the mid-1990s, but have since fallen back to the 1970s level. In 2012, the average person made 954 trips per year compared to 956 in 1972/73 and 1,086 in 1995/97.

In 2012, the average distance travelled was 6,691 miles which is 49% higher than in 1972/73, but 4% lower than in 1995/97. Average trip length was 7 miles.

Since 1995/97, trips by private modes of transport fell by 14% while public transport modes increased by 2%. Walking trips fell by 27%.

Most of the decline in overall trips rates between 1995/97 and 2012 is due to falls in shopping, visiting friends and commuting purposes.

In 2012, trips by car (as a driver or passenger) accounted for 64% of all trips made and 78% of distance travelled.

On average, females make more trips than males, but males travel much further each year. The average number of car driver trips and distance travelled by men is falling while those by women are increasing.

Concessionary travel pass take-up was 79% of those eligible (82% of females and 74% of males); ranging from 66% in rural areas to 88% in London.

People in the highest household income quintile group made 28% more trips than those in the lowest income quintile and travelled nearly 3 times further.

Estimated average annual car mileage was 8,200 miles.

    Description

    Abstract

The World Bank WeTour Project aimed to contribute to improved knowledge of the characteristics of Women-owned/led Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (WSMEs) in tourism in Ghana and Sierra Leone. It is intended that this knowledge and data will be used by projects and programs in those countries to inform the design of gender-targeted tourism SME support services. This survey is representative of male and female enterprises.

    Geographic coverage

In Ghana, the scope covered three destination areas: Tourism and Tourism-related sectors of Accra, Elmina and Sekondi-Takoradi.

    Analysis unit

Micro, Small and Medium Tourism and tourism-related enterprises

    Universe

The universe of MSMEs in Tourism and Tourism-related sectors of Accra, Elmina and Sekondi-Takoradi in Ghana comprises 2,677 entities identified individually in the sampling frame.

    Kind of data

    Sample survey data [ssd]

    Sampling procedure

The universe of tourism and tourism related SMEs was constructed in each country using all available sources. For both countries the original sample frame of SMEs was compiled from previous sample frames developed for enterprise surveys by EEC International, the amalgamation of past listings of SMEs from the NSO and other public registries, as well as numerous other sources collated from business associations and other publicly available sources of tourism-related information portals, namely: travel agent reservation systems such as Amadeus and Sabre, tourism and tourism-related websites such as Expedia and TripAdvisor, as well as establishments referenced on Google Maps and appearing on Google Street View. The sample frame for micro enterprises was planned to result from systematic block enumeration in the targeted locations. During the block enumeration, entities were identified by a number on a list and a geographical reference (map or other description of the location), information on its apparent activity (tourism or tourism-related), as well as visible gender composition (no apparent female, no apparent male, mixed presence). Neither the activity composition nor the gender composition were known at inception. The validation of the sample frame consisted in ensuring that there were no foreign elements (activities not included in the universe under study).

The sampling strategy that EECI applied for the Tourism and Tourism related Sectors applying consisted in randomly drawing from the frame of MSMEs a screened sample until the minimum number of male and female respondents targeted was obtained, inclusive of the expected non-response. For Ghana, the frame contained a total of 2,677 entities, of which 1,920 micros and 757 SMEs. A random draw of 271 entities, consisting of 199 micros and 72 SMEs, the same proportions as in the frame, identified after screening 132 female entities (107 micros and 25 SMEs) and 139 male entities (92 micros and 47 SMEs). The entire group of 132 female entities was directed to interviewing (expecting at least 120 respondents), and the first 132 male entities that were screened, were directed to interviewing (expecting at least 120 respondents). For more details see Methodology Note provided under Related Documents.

    Mode of data collection

    Face-to-face [f2f]

    Cleaning operations

Data entry and quality controls were implemented by the contractor then data was delivered to the World Bank. The World Bank validated data were validated for logical consistency, flagging problems that were then corrected by the implementing contractor.

    Response rate

The response rate was 92.5% for Ghana. There are slight variations of these indicators by sub-groups of businesses.

    Sampling error estimates

According to sample design, it is possible to generalize survey results (at a precision of 7.5% and a confidence level of 90%) at the sector level, and the respective gender sub-groups of businesses.

    Description

    Objective

To systematically review the literature on women’s experiences traveling for abortion and assess how this concept has been explored and operationalized, with a focus on travel distance, cost, delays, and other barriers to receiving services.

    Â

    Background

Increasing limitations on abortion providers and access to care have increased the necessity of travel for abortion services around the world. No systematic examination of women’s experiences traveling for abortion has been conducted; this mixed-methods review provides a summary of the qualitative and quantitative literature on this topic.

    Â

    Methods

A systematic search was conducted using PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Popline, and Google Scholar in July 2016 and updated in March 2017 (PROSPERO registration # CRD42016046007). We included original research studies that described women’s experiences traveling for abortion. Two reviewers independently performed article screening, data extraction and determin...
