We introduce a large-scale dataset of the complete texts of free/open source software (FOSS) license variants. To assemble it we have collected from the Software Heritage archive—the largest publicly available archive of FOSS source code with accompanying development history—all versions of files whose names are commonly used to convey licensing terms to software users and developers. The dataset consists of 6.5 million unique license files that can be used to conduct empirical studies on open source licensing, training of automated license classifiers, natural language processing (NLP) analyses of legal texts, as well as historical and phylogenetic studies on FOSS licensing. Additional metadata about shipped license files are also provided, making the dataset ready to use in various contexts; they include: file length measures, detected MIME type, detected SPDX license (using ScanCode), example origin (e.g., GitHub repository), oldest public commit in which the license appeared. The dataset is released as open data as an archive file containing all deduplicated license blobs, plus several portable CSV files for metadata, referencing blobs via cryptographic checksums.

Machine learning (ML) has gained much attention and has been incorporated into our daily lives. While there are numerous publicly available ML projects on open source platforms such as GitHub, there have been limited attempts in filtering those projects to curate ML projects of high quality. The limited availability of such high-quality dataset poses an obstacle to understanding ML projects. To help clear this obstacle, we present NICHE, a manually labelled dataset consisting of 572 ML projects. Based on evidences of good software engineering practices, we label 441 of these projects as engineered and 131 as non-engineered. In this repository we provide "NICHE.csv" file that contains the list of the project names along with their labels, descriptive information for every dimension, and several basic statistics, such as the number of stars and commits. This dataset can help researchers understand the practices that are followed in high-quality ML projects. It can also be used as a benchmark for classifiers designed to identify engineered ML projects.

ApacheJIT: A Large Dataset for Just-In-Time Defect Prediction This archive contains the ApacheJIT dataset presented in the paper "ApacheJIT: A Large Dataset for Just-In-Time Defect Prediction" as well as the replication package. The paper is submitted to MSR 2022 Data Showcase Track. The datasets are available under directory dataset. There are 4 datasets in this directory. 1. apachejit_total.csv: This file contains the entire dataset. Commits are specified by their identifier and a set of commit metrics that are explained in the paper are provided as features. Column buggy specifies whether or not the commit introduced any bug into the system. 2. apachejit_train.csv: This file is a subset of the entire dataset. It provides a balanced set that we recommend for models that are sensitive to class imbalance. This set is obtained from the first 14 years of data (2003 to 2016). 3. apachejit_test_large.csv: This file is a subset of the entire dataset. The commits in this file are the commits from the last 3 years of data. This set is not balanced to represent a real-life scenario in a JIT model evaluation where the model is trained on historical data to be applied on future data without any modification. 4. apachejit_test_small.csv: This file is a subset of the test file explained above. Since the test file has more than 30,000 commits, we also provide a smaller test set which is still unbalanced and from the last 3 years of data. In addition to the dataset, we also provide the scripts using which we built the dataset. These scripts are written in Python 3.8. Therefore, Python 3.8 or above is required. To set up the environment, we have provided a list of required packages in file requirements.txt. Additionally, one filtering step requires GumTree [1]. For Java, GumTree requires Java 11. For other languages, external tools are needed. Installation guide and more details can be found here. The scripts are comprised of Python scripts under directory src and Python notebooks under directory notebooks. The Python scripts are mainly responsible for conducting GitHub search via GitHub search API and collecting commits through PyDriller Package [2]. The notebooks link the fixed issue reports with their corresponding fixing commits and apply some filtering steps. The bug-inducing candidates then are filtered again using gumtree.py script that utilizes the GumTree package. Finally, the remaining bug-inducing candidates are combined with the clean commits in the dataset_construction notebook to form the entire dataset. More specifically, git_token.py handles GitHub API token that is necessary for requests to GitHub API. Script collector.py performs GitHub search. The PWSD is a dataset that can be used to answer questions about various public workforce system programs and how these programs fit in with the overall public workforce system and the economy. It was designed primarily to be used as a tool to understand what has been occurring in the Wagner-Peyser program and contains data from quarter 1 of 1995 through quarter 4 of 2008. Also, it was designed to understand the relationship and flow of participants as they go through the public workforce system. The PWSD can be used to analyze these programs both individually and in combination. The PWSD contains economic variables, Unemployment Insurance System data, and data on programs funded by the Workforce Investment Act and Employment Service. Economic variables included are labor force, employment, unemployment, unemployment rate, and gross domestic product data.

This repository is currently being built. It contains data from the Software Factory (SF), a service unit at a large southwestern university providing software engineering services for funded research projects and university technology spinouts. SF was led by a professional software engineer, who managed student programmers using industry-standard engineering processes and organized in formal project-based teams. It operated for 144 weeks from late 2002 to early 2005, and had 79 participants, including the manager, employees, clients and researchers. Over this time, SF worked on 31 separate projects, developing applications for the social sciences, natural sciences, and education, and for internal use (such as an activity reporting system). Historically, access to the Homeland Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data (HIFLD) has been restricted to applicants meeting a variety of criteria, such as working for a federal government agency, or state emergency management agency. With the release of their new ArcGIS Online Open Data website, the HIFLD has made data previously contained within the Homeland Security Infrastructure Program (HSIP) databases available, and open, to the public. Currently, there are over 270 datasets available that can be downloaded in a variety of proprietary and open data formats, such as a Shapefile, CSV, and KML. All datasets are also available as APIs, such as GeoJSON and GeoServices which allows data to be easily added to web applications. All data are separated into a variety of useful categories such as agriculture, emergency services, natural hazards, and ground transportation, to name a few. Once a dataset is selected, users can read a detailed description of the data, preview the data in the map window, preview the attribute table, and select to download data by map area, or filtered attributes. Once the data has been filtered, or once a focus area has been selected by the user, the data can either be downloaded or opened in ArcGIS Online.

LouVelo is a docked bikeshare program owned by Louisville Metro Government and operated by Cyclehop since May of 2017. The System includes Approximately 250 bikes, 25 Docked Stations in Louisville, and an additional 3 stations owned and operated by the City of Jeffersonville in Partnership with Cyclehop. These data will be updated on a monthly basis to show monthly trends in ridership along with general patterns of use with pick up and drop off location data. These data are updated and maintained for use in the Louisville Metro Open Data Portal LouVelo Dashboard to show ridership for the entirety of the program. Some stations have been relocated since the programs founding. For up to date information on dock locations please view the system map on the LouVelo website. This dashboard is maintained by Louisville Metro Public Works.

The USGS National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) Downloadable Data Collection from The National Map (TNM) is a comprehensive set of digital spatial data that encodes information about naturally occurring and constructed bodies of surface water (lakes, ponds, and reservoirs), paths through which water flows (canals, ditches, streams, and rivers), and related entities such as point features (springs, wells, stream gages, and dams). The information encoded about these features includes classification and other characteristics, delineation, geographic name, position and related measures, a "reach code" through which other information can be related to the NHD, and the direction of water flow. The network of reach codes delineating water and transported material flow allows users to trace movement in upstream and downstream directions. In addition to this geographic information, the dataset contains metadata that supports the exchange of future updates and improvements to the data. The NHD supports many applications, such as making maps, geocoding observations, flow modeling, data maintenance, and stewardship. DWR was the steward for NHD and Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) in California. We worked with other organizations to edit and improve NHD and WBD, using the business rules for California. California's NHD improvements were sent to USGS for incorporation into the national database. The most up-to-date products are accessible from the USGS website. Please note that the California portion of the National Hydrography Dataset is appropriate for use at the 1:24,000 scale.

In September 2022, USGS officially notified DWR that the NHD would become static as USGS resources will be devoted to the transition to the new 3D Hydrography Program (3DHP). 3DHP will consist of LiDAR-derived hydrography at a higher resolution than NHD. Upon completion, 3DHP data will be easier to maintain, based on a modern data model and architecture, and better meet the requirements of users that were documented in the Hydrography Requirements and Benefits Study (2016). The initial releases of 3DHP will be the NHD data cross-walked into the 3DHP data model. It will take several years for the 3DHP to be built out for California. Please refer to the resources on this page for more information.
The FINAL,STATIC version of the National Hydrography Dataset for California was published for download by USGS on December 27, 2023. This dataset can no longer be edited by the state stewards.
