    Description

This dataset presents data on family and community available from the ABS Data by Region statistics. This release of Data by Region presents various data for 2011-2018 and Census of Population and Housing data for 2011 and 2016 and is based on the Statistical Area 2 (SA2) 2016 boundaries. The dataset includes information in the following specified areas of family and community: Gifts/Donations Reported by Taxpayers, Method of Travel to Work, Households, Families, Count of All Children in Family, Social Marital Status & Registered Marital Status, Unpaid Work, Access to Internet at Home, Housing Suitability, Dwelling Structure, Tenure Type, Rent and Mortgage Payments, Housing Stress, Commuting to Work and Socio Economic Indexes of Areas (SEIFA).

Data by Region contains a standard set of data for each region type, depending on the availability of statistics for particular geographies. Data are sourced from a wide variety of collections, both ABS and non-ABS. When analysing these statistics, care needs to be taken as time periods, definitions, methodologies, scope and coverage can differ across collections. Where available, data have been presented as a time series - to enable users to assess changes over time. However, when looked at on a period to period basis, some series may sometimes appear volatile. When analysing the data, users are encouraged to consider the longer term behaviour of the series, where this extra information is available.

For more information please visit the Explanatory Notes.

AURIN has made the following changes to the original data:

    • Spatially enabled the original data with the ABS Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) SA2 2016 dataset.

    • Some data values in Data by Region have been randomly adjusted or suppressed to avoid the release of confidential details.

    • Where data was not available, not available for publication, nil or rounded to zero in the original data, it has been set to null.

    • Columns and rows that did not contain any values in the original data have been removed.

    Description

This dataset contains counts of the total usual resident population and total dwelling count from the 2016 Census of Population and Housing for Mesh Blocks. Data is current for Census Night 9 August 2016 and describes geographic Australia; including Norfolk Island, the Territory of Christmas Island and the Territory of Cocos (Keeling) Islands, but does not include any other external Territory. Due to the small size of Mesh Blocks, data is confidentialised and only describes basic dwelling counts and number of persons usually resident. For more information, refer to the Australian Bureau of Statistics' Census of Population and Housing: Mesh Block Counts, Australia, 2016.

    Description

This dataset presents information from G37 – Tenure and landlord type by dwelling structure in Australia based on the general community profile from the 2021 Census. It contains characteristics of persons, families, and dwellings by Local Government Areas (LGA), 2021, from the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) Edition 3.

This dataset is part of a set of web services based on the 2021 Census. It can be used as a tool for researching, planning, and analysis. The data is based on place of usual residence (that is, where people usually live, rather than where they were counted on Census night), unless otherwise stated.

Small random adjustments have been made to all cell values to protect the confidentiality of respondents. These adjustments may cause the sum of rows or columns to differ by small amounts from table totals. For further information see the 2021 Census Privacy Statement, Confidentiality, and Introduced random error/perturbation.

Made possible by the Digital Atlas of Australia The Digital Atlas of Australia is an Australian Government initiative being led by Geoscience Australia. It will bring together trusted datasets from across government in an interactive, secure, and easy-to-use geospatial platform. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is working in partnership with Geoscience Australia to establish a set of web services to make ABS data available in the Digital Atlas.

Contact the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) If you have questions, feedback or would like to receive updates about this web service, please email geography@abs.gov.au. For information about how the ABS manages any personal information you provide view the ABS privacy policy.

This data is ABS data (cat. no. 2101.0 & original geographic boundary cat. no. 1261.0.30.001) used with permission from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The tabular data was processed and supplied to AURIN by the Australian Data Archives. The cleaned, high resolution 1991 geographic boundaries are available from data.gov.au. Description

This report analyses the price of residential housing in Australia. This is measured by taking the average of the residential property price index produced by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The index is an aggregation of an established house price index and an attached dwellings price index. The index measures the price change in all residential dwellings in Australia's eight major capital cities. The data for this report is sourced from the ABS and has an index base year of 2011-12.

    Description

This dataset presents information from 2016 at the household level; the percentage of households within each Index of Household Advantage and Disadvantage (IHAD) quartile for Statistical Area Level 2 (SA2) 2016 boundaries. The IHAD is an experimental analytical index developed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) that provides a summary measure of relative socio-economic advantage and disadvantage for households. It utilises information from the 2016 Census of Population and Housing. IHAD quartiles: All households are ordered from lowest to highest disadvantage, the lowest 25% of households are given a quartile number of 1, the next lowest 25% of households are given a quartile number of 2 and so on, up to the highest 25% of households which are given a quartile number of 4. This means that households are divided up into four groups, depending on their score. This data is ABS data (catalogue number: 4198.0) used with permission from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. For more information please visit the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Please note: AURIN has generated this dataset through aggregating the original SA1 level data (with calculated number of households/quartile) to SA2 level.
