    Description

This document provides an overview of the characteristics of 49 empirical papers and 63 studies that were reviewed for "Virtual Reality Research in Marketing Focusing on Consumers”. This study used two distinct strategies to identify relevant research articles for inclusion in the analysis. Strategy A: Utilizing the SCImago Institutions Rankings as a reference, we targeted the top 50 ranked academic journals and extracted articles that incorporated "Virtual Reality" within their titles, abstracts, or keywords. Articles were obtained directly from the publisher of each journal. In cases where keyword search functionality was absent (e.g., Emerald), we limited the search to papers containing "Virtual Reality" in either their titles or abstracts. This approach resulted in the identification of 65 articles. Strategy B: Our search extended to various databases featured on the EBSCOhost platform, including "Academic Search Premier," "Business Source Premier," "Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection," "ERIC," "EconLit with Full Text," and "Teacher Reference Center." We focused on articles that pertained to both "Marketing" and "Virtual Reality," ensuring that they were peer-reviewed and available in full text. After removing duplicates identified in Strategy A, we extracted an additional 58 articles. In total, 123 articles were retrieved from both strategies. We meticulously reviewed the abstracts and keywords of each article to exclude those unrelated to Virtual Reality or not targeting consumers (e.g., articles on education, research, and development). Consequently, our final dataset included 51 articles (49 empirical papers, comprising 48 quantitative and 1 qualitative study, and 2 framework papers) for further examination.

    Description

AbstractMarketing researchers often employ bibliometric analysis to assess the importance of scientific production in the field, but few studies have examined its influence outside the discipline itself, particularly in the social sciences with which it maintains an interdisciplinary relationship. This study aimed to fill this knowledge gap by analyzing citations of the eleven leading Marketing journals in the top journals of the closest social sciences – Management, Economy and Finance, Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology – and identifying the articles, journals and subjects which have had more impact in these areas. The subjects were constructed by clustering article keywords, and the results were interpreted by means of network analysis and cross-tabulation. The results show that, although the overall contribution of the discipline is relatively small, certain topics have been objects of interest in each social science. Furthermore, the discipline's contribution is polarized, providing Management with methodology and articles of managerial and strategic natures, while providing other areas mainly with articles in Consumer Behavior. Based on the insights obtained, the scientific status of Marketing production is discussed, as well as the avenues for increasing the relevance of the discipline.

Global Scientific And Technical Publication Market Drivers

The market drivers for the Scientific And Technical Publication Market can be influenced by various factors. These may include:

Research and Development (R&D) Activities: The demand for scientific and technical publications is influenced by the amount of R&D activity conducted worldwide. Research production and publications increase in proportion to the level of expenditure made in R&D by governments, academic institutions, and private corporations.

Technological Developments: Innovation in scientific research is fueled by technological developments like artificial intelligence, data analytics, and high-performance computers. As a result, new areas of research are generated, and there is a greater need for publications that address these developing topics.

Research Globalisation: Cross-border collaboration between researchers and institutions has increased, which has increased the demand for scientific publications that may share research findings with a worldwide readership. Publications that are readable and pertinent to academics across the globe are in high demand due to the growth of international research collaborations.

Government Policies and financing: The market for scientific and technical publications is greatly impacted by government policies and financing for research. Modifications in research funds, funding priorities, and open access regulations may have an effect on the publication environment and scientific literature accessibility.

Open Access Initiatives: The landscape of scientific publication is changing as a result of the movement for open access publishing, which allows research articles to be openly accessed by the general public. The industry's publication processes and business models are changing as a result of funding agencies, academic institutions, and research centres implementing open access rules at an increasing rate.

Demand for multidisciplinary Research: Publications that address subjects at the nexus of several disciplines are becoming more and more necessary as research becomes increasingly multidisciplinary. Demand is expected to rise for journals and publishers who help disseminate the results of interdisciplinary research.

Demand for Real-Time Information: As science advances at an accelerated rate, there is an increasing need for up-to-date information on recent discoveries. This requirement for immediate knowledge dissemination is met by publishers who provide preprint platforms, fast peer review, and early internet publication.

Education and Training: Since educational institutions need resources for teaching and training, they also drive the need for scientific and technical publications. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and training programmes rely heavily on textbooks, reference materials, and internet resources.

    Bullet Journal Market Outlook

As per our latest research, the global bullet journal market size reached USD 1.54 billion in 2024, and it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.2% during the forecast period, reaching USD 2.89 billion by 2033. The market’s robust expansion is largely attributed to the rising popularity of personalized productivity tools, increasing adoption among students and professionals, and the seamless integration of digital and analog journaling solutions. The growing trend of mindfulness, self-organization, and creative planning continues to drive demand for bullet journals globally.

One of the primary growth factors fueling the bullet journal market is the increasing emphasis on mental well-being and productivity. Consumers are actively seeking methods to manage stress, track habits, and improve their daily routines, leading to a surge in demand for bullet journals as effective tools for self-organization. The versatility of bullet journals, allowing users to customize layouts for tracking goals, appointments, and personal reflections, has broadened their appeal across diverse demographic groups. Additionally, the rise of social media communities and influencers promoting bullet journaling techniques has significantly contributed to market growth by fostering a culture of creativity and self-improvement.

Another significant driver is the technological advancement and digital transformation within the stationery industry. The emergence of digital bullet journals and related applications has expanded the market’s reach, catering to tech-savvy users who prefer organizing their schedules and tasks on digital platforms. These digital alternatives offer features such as cloud synchronization, customizable templates, and integration with other productivity tools, enhancing user convenience and accessibility. Furthermore, manufacturers are increasingly investing in eco-friendly materials and sustainable production processes for physical bullet journals, responding to the growing consumer demand for environmentally conscious products.

The educational sector has also played a pivotal role in the bullet journal market’s expansion. Educational institutions and teachers are incorporating bullet journaling techniques into curriculums to foster better planning, note-taking, and time management skills among students. This trend has led to increased adoption of bullet journals among students and academic professionals. The professional segment, including corporate employees and freelancers, is also witnessing heightened usage as organizations recognize the benefits of structured planning and creative brainstorming for enhancing productivity. The growing diversity of end-users, coupled with innovative product launches, is expected to sustain the market’s upward trajectory.

Regionally, North America holds a dominant position in the bullet journal market, followed closely by Europe and the Asia Pacific. The United States, in particular, has witnessed a substantial uptick in bullet journal adoption due to high consumer awareness and an established culture of self-improvement. Meanwhile, the Asia Pacific region is emerging as a lucrative market, driven by the increasing penetration of digital devices, rising disposable incomes, and a growing youth population keen on adopting new organizational tools. The interplay of regional trends and consumer preferences is shaping the competitive landscape, with local and global players vying for market share through product innovation and strategic partnerships.

    Product Type Analysis

The bullet journal market is segmented by product type into Notebooks, Digital Bullet Journals, and Accessories. Notebooks remain the cornerstone of the market, accounting for the largest share in 2024, as traditional paper-based journaling continues to resonate with consumers seeking a tangible and creative outlet for planning and self-expression. The tactile experience of writing, drawing, and decorating in a physical notebook provides a sense of satisf

    Description

What makes business research seemingly irrelevant outside of the closed circle of academia? This question has been discussed and debated in various forms in academic circles. Concerns such as increased relevance, access, and better communication are routinely touted as the way forward. However, these recommendations are often targeted towards researchers rather than academic journals which have strict publishing requirements. This research explores the role of academic business journals, the key means of communication between research and practice, in contributing to the research-practice divide and, hence, research irrelevance. We analysed the journal requirements and guidelines for authors of top-rated business journals from research areas including management, marketing, accounting and finance and tourism. Factors related to article structure, content, writing style, focus on theoretical and practical implications, journal subscription methods and fees, as well as journal primary target audiences and contributors, were analysed and qualitatively coded. Our analysis suggests that journal guidelines and requirements inhibit research communication to practice and, hence, contribute to business research irrelevance. We provide various recommendations as a way forward to improve the ‘rules of the game’, and develop a publishing model that will allow business research to contribute to the challenges facing our planet, societies and businesses.
