Minnesota's original public land survey plat maps were created between 1848 and 1907 during the first government land survey of the state by the U.S. Surveyor General's Office. This collection of more than 3,600 maps includes later General Land Office (GLO) and Bureau of Land Management maps up through 2001. Scanned images of the maps are available in several digital formats and most have been georeferenced.
The survey plat maps, and the accompanying survey field notes, serve as the fundamental legal records for real estate in Minnesota; all property titles and descriptions stem from them. They also are an essential resource for surveyors and provide a record of the state's physical geography prior to European settlement. Finally, they testify to many years of hard work by the surveying community, often under very challenging conditions.
The deteriorating physical condition of the older maps (drawn on paper, linen, and other similar materials) and the need to provide wider public access to the maps, made handling the original records increasingly impractical. To meet this challenge, the Office of the Secretary of State (SOS), the State Archives of the Minnesota Historical Society (MHS), the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), MnGeo and the Minnesota Association of County Surveyors collaborated in a digitization project which produced high quality (800 dpi), 24-bit color images of the maps in standard TIFF, JPEG and PDF formats - nearly 1.5 terabytes of data. Funding was provided by MnDOT.
In 2010-11, most of the JPEG plat map images were georeferenced. The intent was to locate the plat images to coincide with statewide geographic data without appreciably altering (warping) the image. This increases the value of the images in mapping software where they can be used as a background layer.
In 2024, the average value of U.S. farm real estate was 4,170 U.S. dollars per acre. Compared to one decade earlier, the value has increased by almost 40 percent. Generally, the value of U.S. farm real estate has had an upward trend since 1970. U.S. farms The number of farms in the United States has conversely been decreasing each year, reaching about two million farms as of 2022. That year, Texas had the most farms out of any other U.S. state by far, with about 246,000 farms. Missouri and Iowa had the second and third most farms, though neither state exceeded 100,000 farms. Agricultural trade Agricultural products encompass any products from agricultural origin that are meant for human consumption or animal feed. Agricultural products can include livestock products or crops. In 2022, the U.S. exported about 196.4 billion U.S. dollars’ worth of agricultural goods worldwide, increasing from the previous several years. Mexico is a key destination for U.S. agricultural products and imported just over 28 billion dollars’ worth in 2022, more than Europe and Eurasia combined.

Introduction and Rationale: Due to our increasing understanding of the role the surrounding landscape plays in ecological processes, a detailed characterization of land cover, including both agricultural and natural habitats, is ever more important for both researchers and conservation practitioners. Unfortunately, in the United States, different types of land cover data are split across thematic datasets that emphasize agricultural or natural vegetation, but not both. To address this data gap and reduce duplicative efforts in geospatial processing, we merged two major datasets, the LANDFIRE National Vegetation Classification (NVC) and USDA-NASS Cropland Data Layer (CDL), to produce an integrated land cover map. Our workflow leveraged strengths of the NVC and the CDL to produce detailed rasters comprising both agricultural and natural land-cover classes. We generated these maps for each year from 2012-2021 for the conterminous United States, quantified agreement between input layers and accuracy of our merged product, and published the complete workflow necessary to update these data. In our validation analyses, we found that approximately 5.5% of NVC agricultural pixels conflicted with the CDL, but we resolved a majority of these conflicts based on surrounding agricultural land, leaving only 0.6% of agricultural pixels unresolved in our merged product. Contents: Spatial data Attribute table for merged rasters Technical validation data Number and proportion of mismatched pixels Number and proportion of unresolved pixels Producer's and User's accuracy values and coverage of reference data Resources in this dataset:Resource Title: Attribute table for merged rasters. File Name: CombinedRasterAttributeTable_CDLNVC.csvResource Description: Raster attribute table for merged raster product. Class names and recommended color map were taken from USDA-NASS Cropland Data Layer and LANDFIRE National Vegetation Classification. Class values are also identical to source data, except classes from the CDL are now negative values to avoid overlapping NVC values. Resource Title: Number and proportion of mismatched pixels. File Name: pixel_mismatch_byyear_bycounty.csvResource Description: Number and proportion of pixels that were mismatched between the Cropland Data Layer and National Vegetation Classification, per year from 2012-2021, per county in the conterminous United States.Resource Title: Number and proportion of unresolved pixels. File Name: unresolved_conflict_byyear_bycounty.csvResource Description: Number and proportion of unresolved pixels in the final merged rasters, per year from 2012-2021, per county in the conterminous United States. Unresolved pixels are a result of mismatched pixels that we could not resolve based on surrounding agricultural land (no agriculture with 90m radius).Resource Title: Producer's and User's accuracy values and coverage of reference data. File Name: accuracy_datacoverage_byyear_bycounty.csvResource Description: Producer's and User's accuracy values and coverage of reference data, per year from 2012-2021, per county in the conterminous United States. We defined coverage of reference data as the proportional area of land cover classes that were included in the reference data published by USDA-NASS and LANDFIRE for the Cropland Data Layer and National Vegetation Classification, respectively. CDL and NVC classes with reference data also had published accuracy statistics. Resource Title: Data Dictionary. File Name: Data_Dictionary_RasterMerge.csv

SCIPS Statistics:
- 378 parcels have no SCIPS table match
- 213 are parcels added to The Villages at Vanden Meadows
- 125 are parcels with no APN recorded in the Tax Map (these are marked with 'No GIS Primary Table APN Match' in the PARCELID field).
- 27 are parcels that have APNs in the tax maps but have been prerecorded as not having a SCIPS match (these are marked with 'Currently Under Review as of 6/30/2022' in the Data Notes field).
- 5 represent land/base parcels that have condos overlaying them- the land parcels have an APN in the tax map.
- 8 remaining have land use codes of VACANT COMMERCIAL, VACANT RESIDENTIAL, TRANSITIONAL LAND, TAXABLE BELOW MINIMUM VALUE, & LIGHT INDUSTRIAL
- 34 SCIPS table records have no parcel match
- 2 SCIPS records with an ACTIVE status have a use description of NEWLY CREATED PARCELS.
- 32 SCIPS records with an ACTIVE status have a use description of one of the following: RIGHT OF WAY, GOVERNMENTAL & MISCELLANEOUS, AGRICULTURAL PROPERTY, VACANT COMMERCIAL LAND, TAXABLE BELOW MINIMUM VALUE, RAW SUBDIVISION LAND, VACANT RESIDENTIAL LAND < 1 AC.
Topology is built to flag overlaps and gaps within the data. However, the current data condition has exceptions. Overlap exceptions include overlapping air parcels depicting multistory buildings, such as condos, business parks, and trailer parks. Gap exceptions include missing right-of-way parcels and open space areas. These exceptions are being corrected where information within the Tax Maps is available.
As of the data's creation date:
- 4568 gaps exist
- 2403 overlaps exist

This is the land parcels (polygon) dataset for the UKCEH Land Cover Map of 2018(LCM2018) representing Great Britain. It describes Great Britain's land cover in 2018 using UKCEH Land Cover Classes, which are based on UK Biodiversity Action Plan broad habitats. This dataset was derived from the corresponding LCM2018 20m classified pixels dataset. All further LCM2018 datasets for Great Britain are derived from this land parcel product. A range of land parcel attributes are provided. These include the dominant UKCEH Land Cover Class given as an integer value, and a range of per-parcel pixel statistics to help to assess classification confidence and accuracy; for a full explanation please refer to the dataset documentation. LCM2018 represents a suite of geospatial land cover datasets (raster and polygon) describing the UK land surface in 2018. These were produced at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology by classifying satellite images from 2018. LCM2018 was simultaneously released with LCM2017 and LCM2019. These are the latest in a series of UKCEH land cover maps, which began with the 1990 Land Cover Map of Great Britain (now usually referred to as LCM1990) followed by UK-wide land cover maps LCM2000, LCM2007 and LCM2015. This is the land parcels (polygon) dataset for the UKCEH Land Cover Map of 2019 (LCM2019) representing Great Britain. It describes Great Britain's land cover in 2019 using UKCEH Land Cover Classes, which are based on UK Biodiversity Action Plan broad habitats. This dataset was derived from the corresponding LCM2019 20m classified pixels dataset. All further LCM2019 datasets for Great Britain are derived from this land parcel product. A range of land parcel attributes are provided. These include the dominant UKCEH Land Cover Class given as an integer value, and a range of per-parcel pixel statistics to help to assess classification confidence and accuracy; for a full explanation please refer to the dataset documentation. LCM2019 represents a suite of geospatial land cover datasets (raster and polygon) describing the UK land surface in 2019. These were produced at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology by classifying satellite images from 2019. LCM2019 was simultaneously released with LCM2017 and LCM2018. These are the latest in a series of UKCEH land cover maps, which began with the 1990 Land Cover Map of Great Britain (now usually referred to as LCM1990) followed by UK-wide land cover maps LCM2000, LCM2007 and LCM2015. We are also including tabular version that’s slightly more comprehensive (would include anything that didn’t join to the parcel basefile due to lot alterations or resubdivisions since 2023 and/or due to parcels comprised of condos). There are approximately 200 records that don't join to the spatial parcel file and some additional that are null in the spatial parcel file, altogether around 560 total. This Excel file can be downloaded HERE, and does not contain the latitude and longitude information.Data Dictionary:Attribute LabelDefinitionSourceTAX_IDUnique 26 character property tax identification numberOnondaga County PlanningPRINTKEYAbbreviated tax identification number (section-block-lot)Onondaga County PlanningADDRESSNUMProperty’s physical street addressOnondaga County PlanningADDRESSNAMProperty’s physical street nameOnondaga County PlanningTAX_ID_1City Tax ID number (26 digit number used for parcel mapping)City of Syracuse - AssessmentSBLProperty Tax Map Number (Section, Block, Lot)City of Syracuse - AssessmentPNUMBRProperty Number (10 digit number)City of Syracuse - AssessmentStNumParcel street numberCity of Syracuse - AssessmentStNameParcel street nameCity of Syracuse - AssessmentFullAddressStreet number and street nameCity of Syracuse - AssessmentZipParcel zip codeCity of Syracuse - Assessmentdesc_1Lot description including dimensionsCity of Syracuse - Assessmentdesc_2Lot description including dimensionsCity of Syracuse - Assessmentdesc_3Lot description including dimensionsCity of Syracuse - AssessmentSHAPE_IND City of Syracuse - AssessmentLUC_parcelNew York State property type classification code assigned by assessor during each roll categorizing the property by use. The justification and targeting of conservation policy rests on reliable measures of public and private benefits from competing land uses. Advances in Earth system observation and modeling permit the mapping of public ecosystem services at unprecedented scales and resolutions, prompting new proposals for land protection policies and priorities. Data on private benefits from land use are not available at similar scales and resolutions, resulting in a data mismatch with unknown consequences. Here I show that private benefits from land can be quantified at large scales and high resolutions, and that doing so can have important implications for conservation policy models. I develop the first high-resolution estimates of fair market value of private lands in the contiguous United States by training tree-based ensemble models on 6 million land sales. The resulting estimates predict conservation cost with up to 8.5 times greater accuracy than earlier proxies. Studies using coarser cost proxies underestimated conservation costs, especially at the expensive tail of the distribution. This might have led to underestimations of policy budgets by factors of up to 37.5 in recent work. More accurate cost accounting will help policy makers acknowledge the full magnitude of contemporary conservation challenges, and can assist with the targeting of public ecosystem service investments. The Canadian County Parcel Data Public View is a set of geospatial features representing the surface ownership of property in fee simple for property tax purposes as required by 68 O.S. § 2821 and other related data used to produce the parcels such as subdivision boundaries and subdivision lots. The data is created from source documentation filed with the Canadian County Clerk's Office including deeds, easements, and plats. Other data sources such as filed Certified Corner Records filed with the State of Oklahoma or highway plans produced by the Department of Transportation may be used to adjust parcel boundaries. Single legal descriptions may be split up into two or more parcels if the description crosses the boundaries of multiple taxing jurisdictions or crosses quarter section boundaries. Accuracy of parcel data can vary considerably due to a combination of factors. Most parcels and subdivision legal descriptions reference a quarter section or quarter section corner. The accuracy of the quarter section corners is discussed with Canadian County's Public Land Survey System Data. Accuracy is further enhanced or degraded by the quality of the legal description used to create the feature. Generally, legal descriptions created from surveys will have higher accuracy the newer they were created due to improvements in the field of surveying. However, it can be difficult to determine the age of a legal description as descriptions are generally reused on subsequent deeds after the description was first created. Legal descriptions can occasionally contain updated bearings and distances and may denote the updates. The Assessor's Office uses the latest available legal description for creating parcels. Legal descriptions may lack specificity such as the use of "North" instead of a measured bearing or have missing parameters such as missing bearings for curved boundaries. In these cases, parcel data accuracy can be degraded. Further, if a legal description contains a specific landmark or boundary, sometimes called a "bound", the boundary is drawn to that point or landmark regardless of whether the bearing and/or distance accurately arrive at that point. For instance, if a legal description reads "...to the south line of the southeast quarter", the boundary is drawn to the south line of the quarter section even if the bearing and distance are short of or extend beyond that point. Because parcel data must be created for the entire county regardless of the accuracy of the descriptions used to create those parcels, parcels may need to be "stretched" or "squeezed" to make them fit together. When possible, the Assessor's Office relies on the most accurate legal descriptions to set the boundaries and then fits older boundaries to them. Due to the large number of variables, parcel data accuracy cannot be guaranteed nor can the level of accuracy be described for the entire dataset. While Canadian County makes every reasonable effort to make sure parcel data is accurate, this data cannot be used in place of a survey performed by an Oklahoma Licensed Professional Land Surveyor.ParcelDataExternal - Polygons representing surface fee simple title. A land parcel is an area of land with defined boundaries, under unique ownership for specific real property rights. A property is something that is capable of being owned, either in the form of real property (land) or personal property (chattels). The interest can involve physical aspects, such as the use of land, or conceptual rights, such as a right to use the land in the future. The cadastre is an up to date parcel based land information system which contains a record of interests in land (i.e. rights, restrictions and responsibilities). The cadastre includes a geometric description of land parcels linked to other records describing the nature of the interests, the ownership or control of those interests, and often the value of the parcel and its improvements. A cadastral product or service visualises the boundaries of land parcels, often buildings on land, the parcel identifier, basic topographic features and sometimes boundary corner monumentation. The land parcel and property theme provides the basic fabric of land ownership. It consists of the national cadastral database and associated parcel and property information. Descriptive data includes the identifier, tenure, ownership type, size, value, land use and legal rights or restrictions associated with each separate land object.

Internal view of the parcel layer. This view contains all the attributes that can be seen by County employees. There are approximately 51,300 real property parcels in Napa County. Parcels delineate the approximate boundaries of property ownership as described in Napa County deeds, filed maps, and other source documents. GIS parcel boundaries are maintained by the Information Technology Services GIS team. Assessor Parcel Maps are created and maintained by the Assessor Division Mapping Section. Each parcel has an Assessor Parcel Number (APN) that is its unique identifier. The APN is the link to various Napa County databases containing information such as owner name, situs address, property value, land use, zoning, flood data, and other related information. Data for this map service is sourced from the Napa County Parcels dataset which is updated nightly with any recent changes made by the mapping team. There may at times be a delay between when a document is recorded and when the new parcel boundary configuration and corresponding information is available in the online GIS parcel viewer. From 1850 to early 1900s assessor staff wrote the name of the property owner and the property value on map pages. They began using larger maps, called “tank maps” because of the large steel cabinet they were kept in, organized by school district (before unification) on which names and values were written. In the 1920s, the assessor kept large books of maps by road district on which names were written. In the 1950s, most county assessors contracted with the State Board of Equalization for board staff to draw standardized 11x17 inch maps following the provisions of Assessor Handbook 215. Maps were originally drawn on linen. By the 1980’s Assessor maps were being drawn on mylar rather than linen. In the early 1990s Napa County transitioned from drawing on mylar to creating maps in AutoCAD. When GIS arrived in Napa County in the mid-1990s, the AutoCAD images were copied over into the GIS parcel layer. Sidwell, an independent consultant, was then contracted by the Assessor’s Office to convert these APN files into the current seamless ArcGIS parcel fabric for the entire County. Beginning with the 2024-2025 assessment roll, the maps are being drawn directly in the parcel fabric layer.Parcels in the GIS parcel fabric are drawn according to the legal description using coordinate geometry (COGO) drawing tools and various reference data such as Public Lands Survey section boundaries and road centerlines. The legal descriptions are not defined by the GIS parcel fabric. Any changes made in the GIS parcel fabric via official records, filed maps, and other source documents are uploaded overnight. There is always at least a 6-month delay between when a document is recorded and when the new parcel configuration and corresponding information is available in the online parcel viewer for search or download.Parcel boundary accuracy can vary significantly, with errors ranging from a few feet to several hundred feet. These distortions are caused by several factors such as: the map projection - the error derived when a spherical coordinate system model is projected into a planar coordinate system using the local projected coordinate system; and the ground to grid conversion - the distortion between ground survey measurements and the virtual grid measurements. The aim of the parcel fabric is to construct a visual interpretation that is adequate for basic geographic understanding. This digital data is intended for illustration and demonstration purposes only and is not considered a legal resource, nor legally authoritative.SFAP & CFAP DISCLAIMER: Per the California Code, RTC 606. some legal parcels may have been combined for assessment purposes (CFAP) or separated for assessment purposes (SFAP) into multiple parcels for a variety of tax assessment reasons. SFAP and CFAP parcels are assigned their own APN number and primarily result from a parcel being split by a tax rate area boundary, due to a recorded land use lease, or by request of the property owner. Assessor parcel (APN) maps reflect when parcels have been separated or combined for assessment purposes, and are one legal entity. The goal of the GIS parcel fabric data is to distinguish the SFAP and CFAP parcel configurations from the legal configurations, to convey the legal parcel configurations. This workflow is in progress. Please be advised that while we endeavor to restore SFAP and CFAP parcels back to their legal configurations in the primary parcel fabric layer, SFAP and CFAP parcels may be distributed throughout the dataset. Parcels that have been restored to their legal configurations, do not reflect the SFAP or CFAP parcel configurations that correspond to the current property tax delineations. We intend for parcel reports and parcel data to capture when a parcel has been separated or combined for assessment purposes, however in some cases, information may not be available in GIS for the SFAP/CFAP status of a parcel configuration shown. For help or questions regarding a parcel’s SFAP/CFAP status, or property survey data, please visit Napa County’s Surveying Services or Property Mapping Information. This map features Africa Land Cover at 30m resolution from MDAUS BaseVue 2013, referencing the World Land Cover 30m BaseVue 2013 layer.Land cover data represent a descriptive thematic surface for characteristics of the land's surface such as densities or types of developed areas, agricultural lands, and natural vegetation regimes. Land cover data are the result of a model, so a good way to think of the values in each cell are as the predominating value rather than the only characteristic in that cell.Land use and land cover data are critical and fundamental for environmental monitoring, planning, and assessment.Dataset SummaryBaseVue 2013 is a commercial global, land use / land cover (LULC) product developed by MDA. BaseVue covers the Earth’s entire land area, excluding Antarctica. BaseVue is independently derived from roughly 9,200 Landsat 8 images and is the highest spatial resolution (30m), most current LULC product available. The capture dates for the Landsat 8 imagery range from April 11, 2013 to June 29, 2014. The following 16 classes of land use / land cover are listed by their cell value in this layer: Deciduous Forest: Trees > 3 meters in height, canopy closure >35% (<25% inter-mixture with evergreen species) that seasonally lose their leaves, except Larch.Evergreen Forest: Trees >3 meters in height, canopy closure >35% (<25% inter-mixture with deciduous species), of species that do not lose leaves.
