    Description

This is a video demonstrating how to create an offline map in ArcGIS Pro. Steps:Start with creating a vector tile package (.vtpk) from vector data.Add the vector tile package on top of other relevant data in a basemap view. The other data can be a raster image or any of the Esri's default basemaps.Add the basemap into another map view. In this map, you can add other operational layers on top of the basemap.Create a mobile map package (.mmpk) from the multi-layered map.The mobile map package can then be shared through ArcGIS Enterprise portal or manually copied to mobile devices.Author: Irvan Salim - Solution Engineer from Esri IndonesiaCopyright © 2020 Esri Indonesia. Description

With this add in it is possible to create map templates from GIS files in KML format, and create choropleths with them. Providing you have access to KML format map boundary files, it is possible to create your own quick and easy choropleth maps in Excel. The KML format files can be converted from 'shape' files. Many shape files are available to download for free from the web, including from Ordnance Survey and the London Datastore. Standard mapping packages such as QGIS (free to download) and ArcGIS can convert the files to KML format. A sample of a KML file (London wards) can be downloaded from this page, so that users can easily test the tool out. Macros must be enabled for the tool to function. When creating the map using the Excel tool, the 'unique ID' should normally be the area code, the 'Name' should be the area name and then if required and there is additional data in the KML file, further 'data' fields can be added. These columns will appear below and to the right of the map. If not, data can be added later on next to the codes and names. In the add-in version of the tool the final control, 'Scale (% window)' should not normally be changed. With the default value 0.5, the height of the map is set to be half the total size of the user's Excel window. To run a choropleth, select the menu option 'Run Choropleth' to get this form. To specify the colour ramp for the choropleth, the user needs to enter the number of boxes into which the range is to be divided, and the colours for the high and low ends of the range, which is done by selecting coloured option boxes as appropriate. If wished, hit the 'Swap' button to change which colours are for the different ends of the range. Then hit the 'Choropleth' button. The default options for the colours of the ends of the choropleth colour range are saved in the add in, but different values can be selected but setting up a column range of up to twelve cells, anywhere in Excel, filled with the option colours wanted. Then use the 'Colour range' control to select this range, and hit apply, having selected high or low values as wished. The button 'Copy' sets up a sheet 'ColourRamp' in the active workbook with the default colours, which can just be extended or deleted with just a few cells, so saving the user time. The add-in was developed entirely within the Excel VBA IDE by Tim Lund. He is kindly distributing the tool for free on the Datastore but suggests that users who find the tool useful make a donation to the Shelter charity. It is not intended to keep the actively maintained, but if any users or developers would like to add more features, email the author. Acknowledgments Calculation of Excel freeform shapes from latitudes and longitudes is done using calculations from the Ordnance Survey.

The Modern Antique Map (World Edition) web map provides a world basemap symbolized with a unique antique styled map, with a modern flair -- including the benefit of multi-scale mapping. The comprehensive map data includes highways, major roads, minor roads, railways, water features, cities, parks, landmarks, building footprints, and administrative boundaries. This basemap, included in the ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World, uses the Modern Antique vector tile layer and World Hillshade. The vector tile layer in this web map is built using the same data sources used for other Esri Vector Basemaps. For details on data sources contributed by the GIS community, view the map of Community Maps Basemap Contributors. Esri Vector Basemaps are updated monthly.Use this MapThis map is designed to be used as a basemap for overlaying other layers of information or as a stand-alone reference map. You can add layers to this web map and save as your own map. If you like, you can add this web map to a custom basemap gallery for others in your organization to use in creating web maps. If you would like to add this map as a layer in other maps you are creating, you may use the tile layers referenced in this map.

The final aim for this practical is to create a 3D model to visualise how a flood depth of 1m might impact buildings within areas at risk from a 1 in 200 year flood event in Fife. These areas are defined by The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) as medium flood risk areas. By the end of the exercises in this practical you should be able to use Arc Online Apps to create a 3D model that looks like this and highlights the buildings within the medium flood risk areas -The learning objectives for making this model are as follows:Be able to open and navigate in the Map ViewerBe able to find and add suitable data into Map ViewerBe able to create datasets that allow you to perform visual analysis to understand why areas may have been identified as flood risk areasBe able to build a query to identify and extract building data for buildings within the medium flood risk areasBe able to use Scene Viewer to put this all together in a 3D model that allows you visualise this data

Soil is the foundation of life on earth. More living things by weight live in the soil than upon it. It determines what crops we can grow, what structures we can build, what forests can take root. This layer contains the physical soil variable percent clay (clay).Within the subset of soil that is smaller than 2mm in size, also known as the fine earth portion, clay is defined as particles that are smaller than 0.002mm, making them only visible in an electron microscope. Clay soils contain low amounts of air, and water drains through them very slowly. This layer is a general, medium scale global predictive soil layer suitable for global mapping and decision support. In many places samples of soils do not exist so this map represents a prediction of what is most likely in that location. The predictions are made in six depth ranges by soilgrids.org, funded by ISRIC based in Wageningen, Netherlands. Each 250m pixel contains a value predicted for that area by soilgrids.org from best available data worldwide. Data for percent clay are provided at six depth ranges from the surface to 2 meters below the surface. Each variable and depth range may be accessed in the layer's multidimensional properties.Dataset SummaryPhenomenon Mapped: Proportion of clay particles (< 0.002 mm) in the fine earth fraction in g/100g (%)Cell Size: 250 metersPixel Type: 32 bit float, converted from online data that is 16 Bit Unsigned IntegerCoordinate System: Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere, projected via nearest neighbor from goode's homolosine land (250m)Extent: World land area except AntarcticaVisible Scale: All scales are visibleNumber of Columns and Rows: 160300, 100498Source: Soilgrids.orgPublication Date: May 2020Data from the soilgrids.org mean predictions for clay were used to create this layer. You may access the percent clay in one of six depth ranges. To select one choose the depth variable in the multidimensional selector in your map client.Mean depth (cm)Actual depth range of data-2.50-5cm depth range-105-15cm depth range-22.515-30cm depth range-4530-60cm depth range-8060-100cm depth range-150100-200cm depth rangeWhat can you do with this Layer? This layer is suitable for both visualization and analysis across the ArcGIS system. This layer can be combined with your data and other layers from the ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro to create powerful web maps that can be used alone or in a story map or other application.Because this layer is part of the ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World it is easy to add to your map: In ArcGIS Online, you can add this layer to a map by selecting Add then Browse Living Atlas Layers. A window will open. Type "world soils soilgrids" in the search box and browse to the layer. Select the layer then click Add to Map. In ArcGIS Pro, open a map and select Add Data from the Map Tab. Select Data at the top of the drop down menu. The Add Data dialog box will open on the left side of the box, expand Portal if necessary, then select Living Atlas. Type "world soils soilgrids" in the search box, browse to the layer then click OK.In ArcGIS Pro you can use the built-in raster functions or create your own to create custom extracts of the data. Imagery layers provide fast, powerful inputs to geoprocessing tools, models, or Python scripts in Pro.Online you can filter the layer to show subsets of the data using the filter button and the layer's built-in raster functions. This layer is part of the Living Atlas of the World that provides an easy way to explore the landscape layers and many other beautiful and authoritative maps on hundreds of topics.More information about soilgrids layersAnswers to many questions may be found at soilgrids.org (ISRIC) frequently asked questions (faq) page about the data.To make this layer, Esri reprojected the expected value of ISRIC soil grids from soilgrids' source projection (goode's land WKID 54052) to web mercator projection, nearest neighbor, to facilitate online mapping. The resolution in web mercator projection is the same as the original projection, 250m. But keep in mind that the original dataset has been reprojected to make this web mercator version. This multidimensional soil collection serves the mean or expected value for each soil variable as calculated by soilgrids.org. For all other distributions of the soil variable, be sure to download the data directly from soilgrids.org. The data are available in VRT format and may be converted to other image formats within ArcGIS Pro.Accessing this layer's companion uncertainty layerBecause data quality varies worldwide, the uncertainty of the predicted value varies worldwide. A companion uncertainty layer exists for this layer which you can use to qualify the values you see in this map for analysis. Choose a variable and depth in the multidimensional settings of your map client to access the companion uncertainty layer.
