    Description

    Parcels and property data maintained and provided by Lee County Property Appraiser are converted to points. Property attribute data joined to parcel GIS layer by Lee County Government GIS. This dataset is generally used in spatial analysis.Process description: Parcel polygons, condominium points and property data provided by the Lee County Property Appraiser are processed by Lee County's GIS Department using the following steps:Join property data to parcel polygons Join property data to condo pointsConvert parcel polygons to points using ESRI's ArcGIS tool "Feature to Point" and designate the "Source" field "P".Load Condominium points into this layer and designate the "Source" field "C". Add X/Y coordinates in Florida State Plane West, NAD 83, feet using the "Add X/Y" tool.Projected coordinate system name: NAD_1983_StatePlane_Florida_West_FIPS_0902_FeetGeographic coordinate system name: GCS_North_American_1983

    Description

    A major objective of plant ecology research is to determine the underlying processes responsible for the observed spatial distribution patterns of plant species. Plants can be approximated as points in space for this purpose, and thus, spatial point pattern analysis has become increasingly popular in ecological research. The basic piece of data for point pattern analysis is a point location of an ecological object in some study region. Therefore, point pattern analysis can only be performed if data can be collected. However, due to the lack of a convenient sampling method, a few previous studies have used point pattern analysis to examine the spatial patterns of grassland species. This is unfortunate because being able to explore point patterns in grassland systems has widespread implications for population dynamics, community-level patterns and ecological processes. In this study, we develop a new method to measure individual coordinates of species in grassland communities. This method records plant growing positions via digital picture samples that have been sub-blocked within a geographical information system (GIS). Here, we tested out the new method by measuring the individual coordinates of Stipa grandis in grazed and ungrazed S. grandis communities in a temperate steppe ecosystem in China. Furthermore, we analyzed the pattern of S. grandis by using the pair correlation function g(r) with both a homogeneous Poisson process and a heterogeneous Poisson process. Our results showed that individuals of S. grandis were overdispersed according to the homogeneous Poisson process at 0-0.16 m in the ungrazed community, while they were clustered at 0.19 m according to the homogeneous and heterogeneous Poisson processes in the grazed community. These results suggest that competitive interactions dominated the ungrazed community, while facilitative interactions dominated the grazed community. In sum, we successfully executed a new sampling method, using digital photography and a Geographical Information System, to collect experimental data on the spatial point patterns for the populations in this grassland community.

    Methods 1. Data collection using digital photographs and GIS

    A flat 5 m x 5 m sampling block was chosen in a study grassland community and divided with bamboo chopsticks into 100 sub-blocks of 50 cm x 50 cm (Fig. 1). A digital camera was then mounted to a telescoping stake and positioned in the center of each sub-block to photograph vegetation within a 0.25 m2 area. Pictures were taken 1.75 m above the ground at an approximate downward angle of 90° (Fig. 2). Automatic camera settings were used for focus, lighting and shutter speed. After photographing the plot as a whole, photographs were taken of each individual plant in each sub-block. In order to identify each individual plant from the digital images, each plant was uniquely marked before the pictures were taken (Fig. 2 B).

    Digital images were imported into a computer as JPEG files, and the position of each plant in the pictures was determined using GIS. This involved four steps: 1) A reference frame (Fig. 3) was established using R2V software to designate control points, or the four vertexes of each sub-block (Appendix S1), so that all plants in each sub-block were within the same reference frame. The parallax and optical distortion in the raster images was then geometrically corrected based on these selected control points; 2) Maps, or layers in GIS terminology, were set up for each species as PROJECT files (Appendix S2), and all individuals in each sub-block were digitized using R2V software (Appendix S3). For accuracy, the digitization of plant individual locations was performed manually; 3) Each plant species layer was exported from a PROJECT file to a SHAPE file in R2V software (Appendix S4); 4) Finally each species layer was opened in Arc GIS software in the SHAPE file format, and attribute data from each species layer was exported into Arc GIS to obtain the precise coordinates for each species. This last phase involved four steps of its own, from adding the data (Appendix S5), to opening the attribute table (Appendix S6), to adding new x and y coordinate fields (Appendix S7) and to obtaining the x and y coordinates and filling in the new fields (Appendix S8).

    1. Data reliability assessment

    To determine the accuracy of our new method, we measured the individual locations of Leymus chinensis, a perennial rhizome grass, in representative community blocks 5 m x 5 m in size in typical steppe habitat in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China in July 2010 (Fig. 4 A). As our standard for comparison, we used a ruler to measure the individual coordinates of L. chinensis. We tested for significant differences between (1) the coordinates of L. chinensis, as measured with our new method and with the ruler, and (2) the pair correlation function g of L. chinensis, as measured with our new method and with the ruler (see section 3.2 Data Analysis). If (1) the coordinates of L. chinensis, as measured with our new method and with the ruler, and (2) the pair correlation function g of L. chinensis, as measured with our new method and with the ruler, did not differ significantly, then we could conclude that our new method of measuring the coordinates of L. chinensis was reliable.

    We compared the results using a t-test (Table 1). We found no significant differences in either (1) the coordinates of L. chinensis or (2) the pair correlation function g of L. chinensis. Further, we compared the pattern characteristics of L. chinensis when measured by our new method against the ruler measurements using a null model. We found that the two pattern characteristics of L. chinensis did not differ significantly based on the homogenous Poisson process or complete spatial randomness (Fig. 4 B). Thus, we concluded that the data obtained using our new method was reliable enough to perform point pattern analysis with a null model in grassland communities.

    Geoscape Administrative Boundaries is Australia’s most comprehensive national collection of boundaries, including government, statistical and electoral boundaries. It is built and maintained by Geoscape Australia using authoritative government data. Further information about contributors to Administrative Boundaries is available here.

    This dataset comprises seven Geoscape products:

    • Localities
    • Local Government Areas (LGAs)
    • Wards
    • Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Boundaries
    • Electoral Boundaries
    • State Boundaries and
    • Town Points

    Updated versions of Administrative Boundaries are published on a quarterly basis.

    Users have the option to download datasets with feature coordinates referencing either GDA94 or GDA2020 datums.

    Notable changes in the May 2025 release

    • Victorian Wards have seen almost half of the dataset change now reflecting the boundaries from the 2024 subdivision review. https://www.vec.vic.gov.au/electoral-boundaries/council-reviews/ subdivision-reviews.

      • There have been spatial changes (area) greater than 1 km2 to 66 wards in Victoria.
    • One new locality ‘Kenwick Island’ has been added to the local Government area ‘Mackay Regional’ in Queensland.

    • An update to the NT Commonwealth Electoral Boundaries has been applied to reflect the redistribution of the boundaries gazetted on 4 March 2025.

    • Geoscape has become aware that the DATE_CREATED and DATE_RETIRED attributes in the commonwealth_electoral_polygon MapInfo TAB tables were incorrectly ordered and did not match the product data model. These attributes have been re-ordered to match the data model for the May 2025 release.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: correction of issues with the 22 November 2022 release

    • On 28 November 2022, the Administrative Boundaries dataset originally released on 22 November 2022 was amended and re-uploaded after Geoscape identified some issues with the original data for 'Electoral Boundaries'.
    • As a result of the error, some shapefiles were published in 3D rather than 2D, which may affect some users when importing data into GIS applications.
    • The error affected the Electoral Boundaries dataset, specifically the Commonwealth boundary data for Victoria and Western Australia, including 'All States'.
    • Only the ESRI Shapefile formats were affected (both GDA94 and GDA2020). The MapInfo TAB format was not affected.
    • Because the datasets are zipped into a single file, once the error was fixed by Geoscape all of Administrative Boundaries shapefiles had to be re-uploaded, rather than only the affected files.
    • If you downloaded either of the two Administrative Boundary ESRI Shapefiles between 22 November and 28 November 2022 and plan to use the Electoral Boundary component, you are advised to download the revised version dated 28 November 2022. Apologies for any inconvenience.

    In 2021, the Georgia Geospatial Information Office produced Strategic Plan. This strategic plan was undertaken to provide focus and direction for the GIO and the newly formed Geospatial Advisory Council. Coordination among all GIS stakeholders active in Georgia, in sectors including state agencies, federal agencies, regional commissions, cities and counties, academia, non-profit organizations, and the private sector, is the most important ingredient for success in the work of the GIO. By engaging the GIS stakeholder community to understand their requirements, seeking ways to leverage each other’s actions and contributions, and sharing resources, everyone using GIS in Georgia stands to gain more than could ever be achieved with disconnected, duplicative, and separate efforts. This strategic plan provides a blueprint for how to make this happen in Georgia.The plan identified 4 strategic goals for the GIO and GAC to pursue. Each goal includes several subgoals or recommendations, detailed further in the plan (and omitted here for brevity).1.1.1 Goal 1: Lead Geospatial Coordination and OutreachThis is the most important goal, as success with the other goals, as well as all of the activities of the GIO, hinge on coordination and engagement with the Georgia geospatial stakeholders. This goal is also continuous in nature and must be sustained as a core function of the GIO. The plan includes 11 specific recommendations in support of this goal.1.1.2 Goal 2: Facilitate and Promote the Creation of High-Quality Framework DataGeorgia currently ranks poorly in comparison with most other states in having a core set of GIS framework data layers that can serve as the building block data layers needed by all GIS users to create their applications, adding their own specialty layers to support particular requirements. Fortunately, many best practices have emerged for framework data and Georgia can benefit from the experience of other states. The plan includes 5 recommendations to guide the GIO in creating and maintaining these framework data layers. 1.1.3 Goal 3: Lead the Development of Policies, Standards, Best PracticesOne of the most important elements of coordination is to find common ground among the stakeholders and develop consistent policies, standards, and best practices around those common requirements so that the work of each stakeholder will fit with the work of other stakeholders, much like a jigsaw puzzle. In this way, the whole is much greater than the sum of the parts and everyone benefits from data and resources that work together seamlessly. The plan sets forth 4 recommendations for this goal. 1.1.4 Goal 4: Establish the Georgia Geospatial Hub 2.0A basic and necessary function of any state geospatial office is to facilitate easy discovery and access to geospatial data, which is the fuel that powers all GIS uses. There was an earlier effort to create a GIS Clearinghouse for Georgia which no longer contains current or complete data, to the frustration of the geospatial community. This goal provides a strategy with 5 recommendations for the GIO to implement a modern, geospatial data sharing hub using new technology tools that will enable not only easy ways to search for and find relevant data, but to link to it easily, no matter where it is hosted.

    The IPUMS National Historical Geographic Information System (NHGIS) provides free online access to summary statistics and GIS files for U.S. censuses and other nationwide surveys from 1790 through the present. NHGIS boundary files are derived primarily from the U.S. Census Bureau's TIGER/Line files with numerous additions to represent historical (1790-1980) boundaries that do not appear in TIGER/Line files. The process to develop an updated plan included a coordinated review of each goal and strategy with the Planning Commission. The effort resulted in a Plan that is relevant to current conditions, addressed changing needs of the community, and identified new key programs and partners to facilitate growth management initiatives. York Forward 2035 Comprehensive PlanFuture Land Use MapYork Forward 2035 - York County's Comprehensive PlanOn July 18, 2016, the York County Council approved the York Forward 2035 Comprehensive Plan. A Comprehensive Plan is best described as a guide to the County's future. It informs current and future decision makers where they are now, where they want to go, how they intend to get there, and who will help them along the way. The Comprehensive Plan provides the basis for York County's regulations and policies that guide its physical development. The plan establishes priorities for public action and direction for complementary private decisions.An important and overarching component of this planning effort was an inclusionary public engagement process. Understanding community values today ensures that this Plan, implemented in accordance with the recommendations, supports and advances those priorities over the long term. The effort was guided by an Advisory Committee appointed by County Council. Interviews with local stakeholders verified and supplemented the feedback received directly from citizens and property owners. Seven community meetings were held throughout the County to provide an opportunity to learn about the project, refine the goals and provide comments on the plan's components.     This is a Locator for finding British National Grid references. It provides lookups on the British National Grid, which can be applied to all Ordnance Survey maps of Great Britain. You can use it to query by absolute coordinates or by tile. Both types of query return the centre point of the corresponding 10k grid square BNG tile. Parcels and property data maintained and provided by Lee County Property Appraiser are converted to points. Property attribute data joined to parcel GIS layer by Lee County Government GIS. This dataset is generally used in spatial analysis.Process description: Parcel polygons, condominium points and property data provided by the Lee County Property Appraiser are processed by Lee County's GIS Department using the following steps:Join property data to parcel polygons Join property data to condo pointsConvert parcel polygons to points using ESRI's ArcGIS tool "Feature to Point" and designate the "Source" field "P".Load Condominium points into this layer and designate the "Source" field "C".
