    Description

The layers of administrative divisions offered at the scales of 1/20,000 and 1/100,000 allow the location of boundaries for the following components: * Boroughs and agglomerations; * Municipalities, unorganized territories and indigenous territories; * Administrative regions, metropolitan communities, and MRCs; * The international border, the interprovincial borders as well as the Québec—Newfoundland and Labrador border. For the 1/100,000 scale version, the cut-off data originally compiled at the scale of 1/20,000 is adjusted to the corresponding planimetric components at the scale of 1/100,000.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**

Legally defined Municipal polygons were drawn from metes and bounds descriptions as written in Letters Patent for Municipalities in the province of British Columbia. In the event of a discrepancy in the data, the metes and bounds description will prevail. Although the boundaries were drawn based on the legal metes and bounds descriptions, they may differ from how regional districts and their member municipalities and electoral areas currently view and/or manage their boundaries. Where discrepancies are noted, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs (the custodian) enters into discussion with the local governments whose boundaries are affected. Description

The Ontario Stewardship Program has established Stewardship Councils across Ontario.

Ministry of Natural Resources staff no longer directly administer and support Ontario Stewardship Councils. Community-based partners and stakeholders now independently administer Stewardship Councils.

We are no longer updating this data. It is best suited for historical research and analysis.

    Stewardship Zone

The Ontario Stewardship Program divides the province into four administrative regions or zones. Any given Stewardship Council will fall into one of these zones.

    Stewardship Council Area

The Ontario Stewardship Program established Stewardship Councils across southern Ontario and a portion of Northern Ontario.

Where these councils have defined administrative boundaries, the location is stored in this data class.

    Stewardship Council Location

Most councils have established administrative boundaries that generally conform to upper tier municipalities.

There are some councils in Northern Ontario which are generally located in and around a certain geographic location but do not have established administrative boundaries. This data class is primarily used to store point locations associated with these northern councils.

    Description

The Counties of British Columbia contains areas of land within the Province of British Columbia representing legally defined administrative areas described in the County Boundary Act. The purpose of this division is for the administration of justice. The counties were delineated using provincial base mapping features, following the metes and bounds descriptions in the Letters Patent. A polygon dataset that includes all of the administrative areas currently in the Administrative Boundaries Management System (ABMS) is available here. A complimentary point dataset that defines the administrative areas is also available here. The Legal document which divides the province of British Columbia into counties is available here. Description

Footnotes: 1 Source: Statistics Canada, Centre for Demography. The table 17-10-0134-01 is an update of table 17-10-0086-01 . 2 Postcensal population estimates are based on the latest census adjusted for census net undercoverage and also based on administrative sources on births, deaths and migration. Intercensal population estimates are based on postcensal estimates and data adjusted for net undercoverage of the censuses preceding and following the considered year. Population estimates are final intercensal from 2001 to 2015, final postcensal from 2016 to 2018, updated postcensal for 2019 and preliminary postcensal for 2020. Population estimates for health regions are derived from the subprovincial population estimates which are produced by the Centre for Demography using the components method. 3 The number of people living in a geographic area, by age and sex. 4 The following standard symbols are used in this Statistics Canada table: (..) for figures not available for a specific reference period and (...) for figures not applicable. 5 Health region population estimates are produced by the Centre for Demography except for the Quebec estimates, which have been prepared by l'Institut de la statistique du Québec for the whole period. 6 Health regions are administrative areas defined by provincial ministries of health according to provincial legislation. The health regions presented in this table are based on boundaries and names in effect as of 2018. For complete Canadian coverage, each northern territory represents a health region. 7 Peer groups are aggregations of health regions that share similar socio-economic and demographic characteristics, based on data from the 2016 Census of Population. These are useful in the analysis of health regions, where important differences may be detected by comparing health regions within a peer group. The eight peer groups are identified by the letters A through H, which are appended to the health region 4-digit code. Caution should be taken when comparing data for the Peer Groups over time due to changes in the Peer Groups. In an analysis involving the peer groups, only one level of geography in Ontario should be used. For more information on the peer groups classification, consult Statistics Canada's publication Health Regions: Boundaries and Correspondence with Census Geography" (catalogue number 82-402-X)."
