    The New Jersey Office of GIS, NJ Office of Information Technology manages a series of 11 digital orthophotography and scanned aerial photo maps collected at various years ranging from 1930 to 2017. Each year’s worth of imagery are available as Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF (COG) files and some years are available as compressed MrSID and/or JP2 files. Additionally, each year of imagery is organized into a tile grid scheme covering the entire geography of New Jersey. Many years share the same tiling grid while others have unique grids as defined by the project at the time.

    This image service features aerial photographs collected March 5 - April 4, 2023 by Eagle View Technologies, Inc, under contract to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation. The source images are 3-band true color, have a 3-inch spatial resolution, and were flown during leaf-on conditions.     Historical imagery was obtained from University of Florida’s historical Imagery site, “Aerial Photography: Florida”, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Aerial Photo Lookup System, or from the FDEP district offices. Images downloaded from UF were saved locally and georeferenced by GIS team members, whereas the imagery received from the district offices were georeferenced by District staff. It is understood that these "pre-georeferenced" tiles were georeferenced within ArcMap by various staff from the District offices. The following applies to the imagery georeferenced in-office by the Division of Water Resource Management (DWRM):The georeferencing was completed in either ArcMap 10.3.1 or ArcGIS Pro. The following standards were held for the georeferencing process: the minimum number of control points was 10 points. The RMS value was kept at or below 5.0 for all tiles georeferenced in 1st Order Polynomial, and 2.0 for those georeferenced in 2nd Order Polynomial (where 1st Order was not possible). The maximum individual residual was at or under twice the RMS. Again, these were the standards, but the accuracy is not guaranteed. To QC for human error, once all counties for the given decade were georeferenced a comparison task was completed. This QC emphasized that this data is only a visual aid in that distances can be off 50 meters or more in some areas. These are mostly areas where there were limited reference features to georectify the original images. The smallest distance found was under 10 meters. To attain more information on this QC please contact FDEP WRM GIS. As stated in the use limitation, but emphasized here, information contained herein is provided for informational purposes only.     This data set contains high-resolution QuickBird imagery and geospatial data for the entire Barrow QuickBird image area (156.15° W - 157.07° W, 71.15° N - 71.41° N) and Barrow B4 Quadrangle (156.29° W - 156.89° W, 71.25° N - 71.40° N), for use in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing software. The original QuickBird data sets were acquired by DigitalGlobe from 1 to 2 August 2002, and consist of orthorectified satellite imagery. Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC)-compliant metadata for all value-added data sets are provided in text, HTML, and XML formats.

    Accessory layers include: 1:250,000- and 1:63,360-scale USGS Digital Raster Graphic (DRG) mosaic images (GeoTIFF format); 1:250,000- and 1:63,360-scale USGS quadrangle index maps (ESRI Shapefile format); an index map for the 62 QuickBird tiles (ESRI Shapefile format); and a simple polygon layer of the extent of the Barrow QuickBird image area and the Barrow B4 quadrangle area (ESRI Shapefile format).

    Unmodified QuickBird data comprise 62 data tiles in Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zone 4 in GeoTIFF format. Standard release files describing the QuickBird data are included, along with the DigitalGlobe license agreement and product handbooks.

    The baseline geospatial data support education, outreach, and multi-disciplinary research of environmental change in Barrow, which is an area of focused scientific interest. Data are provided on four DVDs. This product is available only to investigators funded specifically from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Office of Polar Programs (OPP), Arctic Sciences Section. An NSF OPP award number must be provided when ordering this data. Contact NSIDC User Services at nsidc@nsidc.org to order the data, and include an NSF OPP award number in the email.

    Description

    2023 Orthophoto - 3 inch resolution: This document describes the processes used to create the orthoimagery data produced for the District of Columbia from 2023 digital aerial photography. It was flown on May 6 and 10, 2023. The aerial imagery acquisition was flown to support the creation of 4-band digital orthophotography with a 3 inch/0.08 meter pixel resolution over the full project area covering the District of Columbia which is approximately 69 square miles. The contractor received waivers to fly in the Flight Restricted Zone (FRZ) and P-56 areas. The ortho imagery was submitted to DC OCTO in GeoTiff/TFW format tiles following the tile scheme provided by OCTO. MrSID and JPEG2000 compressed mosaics were delivered as well using a 50:1 compression ratio.

    Description

    The zip file contains a large tiff mosaic stitched together from a series of aerial photographs of the Calhoun CZO area taken in 1933, when the area was being acquired by the US Forest Service. USFS archaeologist Mike Harmon delivered the black-and-white photographs, known to him as the 'Sumter National Forest Purchase Aerials', to us in a box. The photographs include most of the Enoree District of the Sumter National Forest, including the entirety of the Calhoun CZO, not just the long-term plots and small watersheds. The photographs were scanned and georectified, then color-balanced and stitched together following 'seams' - high-contrast features such as rivers and roads ('seamlined'). In addition to the main tiff are four files that can be used to properly geolocate the composite image in ArcGIS.

    The multilayer pdf file includes a smaller version of the seamlined 1933 aerial photography mosaic raster layer, as well as this aerial mosaic transparent over slope map (for a 3D-like 1933 image raster). Other layers include contours, roads, boundaries, sampling locations, 1.5 m DEM, 1.5m slope, 1m 2013 NAIP aerial imagery, and 2014 canopy height. The pdf file includes both 'interfluve order' and 'landshed order.' These two layers mean the same thing, but the landshed is the area unit around the interfluve that is used for statistics; this dataset has been QC'ed. The Interfluve Order network was used to delineate the landsheds and agrees with it >95% of the time, but has a few inaccuracies (it was automated by the computer) that were fixed manually. Use the network for viewing and considering the landscape at large, but for the specific interfluve order, check the color of the 'Landshed Order' dataset to verify its accuracy.

    Date Range Comments: The exact date these photos were taken is unknown, but the year is thought to be 1933.The flight date is prior to the USFS land purchases for the Enoree District of the Sumter National Forest; the photos are thus known as the "pre-purchase photos").

    These medium resolution true color (RGB - Red-Green-Blue bands) images represent the first color aerial photo "basemap" for the Commonwealth from MassGIS. MassGIS (then part of the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs) and the Massachusetts Dept. of Transportation (then the Mass Highway Department) jointly funded the project. The photography for the mainland was captured in April 2001 when deciduous trees were mostly bare and the ground was generally free of snow. Photography for the Elizabeth Islands, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket (the "Islands") was captured in April 2003. Imagery is available for the entire state.     This three inch pixel resolution color aerial photography was flown between March 8 and March 17, 2020. The files are provided in TIF format which is supported by most GIS and CAD software packages. Its intended usage for viewing is 1" = 100'. The photography has been orthorectified to meet National Map Accuracy Standards for its capture scale. The images are georeferenced to the Illinois State Plane, Eastern Zone. The data set is tiled for dissemination into separate tiles, each of which is 5280 feet (1 mile) on a side. This imagery is provided on an as-is basis, with no guarantees of accuracy or suitability for any particular purpose. Lake County, Illinois, assumes no responsibility for conclusions or decisions reached on the basis of this data. This dataset is projected using the Transverse Mercator map projection. The grid coordinate system used is the Illinois State Plane Coordinate System, East Zone (Zone Number Zone 3776, FIPS 1201), with ground coordinates expressed in U.S. Survey Feet.

In addition to commercial sources, the World Imagery map features high-resolution aerial photography contributed by the GIS User Community.
