    Description

This imagery service contains natural color orthophotos covering counties in north Florida that had imagery captured from October 2012 till spring 2013. An orthophoto is remotely sensed image data in which displacement of features in the image caused by terrain relief and sensor orientation have been mathematically removed. Orthophotography combines the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. Counties covered in this dataset are: Bay, Bradford, Calhoun, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Gulf, Hamilton, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Okaloosa, Palm Beach (partial), Santa Rosa, Suwannee, Taylor, Union, Wakulla, Walton, and Washington. This collection of geo-referenced photos vary with regards to spatial accuracy and resolution. Use the hotlinks below to learn the details of each collection or review MassGIS's new story map explaining all the vintages of aerial photos. Tip: Reviewing that story map might be an easier way to digest the information rather than reviewing the more formal/standard metadata accessible via the hotlinks below.Within the web map certain layers will only be visible at particular zoom extents. If a layer is unavailable to turn on/off, then zoom in or out as needed until the layer becomes active. All photos, except year 1938, are captured during leaf-off (typically late winter/early spring). With the exception of the 1938 & 1990s collection, all photos are in true color. The 1938 & 1990s are in black and white. With regards to Dukes County (which includes the Islands of Martha's Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands) these are the applicable years of acquisition for those State-wide collections that span multiple years: "1990s collection" -- Only year 1999 for Dukes County"2001-2003 collection" -- Only year 2003 for Dukes County"2008-2009 collection" - Only year 2009 for Dukes County"2011-2012 collection" - Only year 2011 for Dukes County"2013-2014 collection" - Only year 2014 for Dukes CountyPhoto Details (Metadata)1938 Black & White Aerials (georeferenced & hosted by Harvard Forest)1990s Black & White Aerials2001-2003 Color Aerials2005 Color Aerials2008-2009 Color Aerials2011-2012 Color Aerials2013-2014 Color Aerials2015 Satellite Images - Extra Details2019 Color Aerials2021 Color Aerials2023 Color AerialsParcel Lines -- These data are NOT survey grade and are intended for general reference only. The parcel data comply with the MassGIS Level 3 parcel data standard. Each town in Dukes County hires a GIS Consultant to prepare their digital parcel lines and to link the properties to the respective records from the town's assessing database. The linkage is static and not updated in real-time - it is only 'as current' as the day the data was exported from the assessing database. The Martha's Vineyard Commission does not edit nor maintain any assessing data or parcel lines/property bounds. Each town within Dukes County updates their digital parcel data when they see fit (most, typically, update annually). Click on a specific town in this map to see when their parcel data was updated and by whom. Similarly, clicking on a parcel in this "MA Aerial Photos Since 1990s web map" will show you the applicable Fiscal Year the assessing info was exported.

    Description

The zip file contains a large tiff mosaic stitched together from a series of aerial photographs of the Calhoun CZO area taken in 1933, when the area was being acquired by the US Forest Service. USFS archaeologist Mike Harmon delivered the black-and-white photographs, known to him as the 'Sumter National Forest Purchase Aerials', to us in a box. The photographs include most of the Enoree District of the Sumter National Forest, including the entirety of the Calhoun CZO, not just the long-term plots and small watersheds. The photographs were scanned and georectified, then color-balanced and stitched together following 'seams' - high-contrast features such as rivers and roads ('seamlined'). In addition to the main tiff are four files that can be used to properly geolocate the composite image in ArcGIS.

The multilayer pdf file includes a smaller version of the seamlined 1933 aerial photography mosaic raster layer, as well as this aerial mosaic transparent over slope map (for a 3D-like 1933 image raster). Other layers include contours, roads, boundaries, sampling locations, 1.5 m DEM, 1.5m slope, 1m 2013 NAIP aerial imagery, and 2014 canopy height. The pdf file includes both 'interfluve order' and 'landshed order.' These two layers mean the same thing, but the landshed is the area unit around the interfluve that is used for statistics; this dataset has been QC'ed. The Interfluve Order network was used to delineate the landsheds and agrees with it >95% of the time, but has a few inaccuracies (it was automated by the computer) that were fixed manually. Use the network for viewing and considering the landscape at large, but for the specific interfluve order, check the color of the 'Landshed Order' dataset to verify its accuracy.

Date Range Comments: The exact date these photos were taken is unknown, but the year is thought to be 1933.The flight date is prior to the USFS land purchases for the Enoree District of the Sumter National Forest; the photos are thus known as the "pre-purchase photos").

2021 Orthophoto - 3 inch resolution: This document describes the processes used to create the orthoimagery data produced for the District of Columbia from 2021 digital aerial photography. It was flown on March 11, 2021. The aerial imagery acquisition was flown to support the creation of 4-band digital orthophotography with a 3 inch/0.08 meter pixel resolution over the full project area covering the District of Columbia which is approximately 69 square miles. The contractor received waivers to fly in the Flight Restricted Zone (FRZ) and P-56 areas. The ortho imagery was submitted to DC OCTO in GeoTiff/TFW format tiles following the tile scheme provided by OCTO. MrSID and JPEG2000 compressed mosaics were delivered as well using a 50:1 compression ratio. This dataset provided as an ArcGIS Image service. Please note, the download feature for this image service in Open Data DC provides a compressed PNG, JPEG or TIFF. The compressed MrSID and JPEG2000 mosaic raster datasets are available under additional options when viewing downloads. Requests for the individual GeoTIFF set of images should be sent to open.data@dc.gov.

Oakland County has utilized Aerial Photographs for mapping purposes for decades. By comparing photographs taken at different times, county cartographers can create accurate and detailed maps of ever-changing features on the Earth’s surface. The process of comparing different aerial photographs and determining accurate measurements is called photogrammetry. Maps created by using aerial photographs are called orthophoto maps. Take a trip back to 1940 and explore our County 70 years ago, or “live in the now” and check out our super-detailed 3-inch resolution 2023 imagery!

    Description

APFO is home to one of the country's largest aerial film libraries. We currently house more than 70,000 rolls of film (10 million plus images). Our film dates from 1955 to the present. We have coverage of most of the United States and its territories. Historic aerial images play a more vital role today than ever before with environmental assessments, change detection, and property boundary disputes. Over the years, APFO (Aerial Photography Field Office) joined with other federal agencies in cooperative photography programs. The latest program is the National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP). APFO now provides NAIP digital imagery to the USDA Service Center Agencies that utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as the method for administering federal farm programs. GIS streamlines daily operation and facilitates updates of vital information which also helps support our nation's farmers and ranchers. The files for locating available aerial imagery include a comprehensive PDF file of all states, Forest Service PDF file, Alpha FIPS PDF file, ability to search for a particular state and county, APFO Historical Availability of Imagery, and ArcGIS Historical Availability of Imagery interactive map.
