Coverage varies by region, with the most detailed coverage in the USA and United Kingdom. Coverage in different areas within a country also varies in detail based on the availability of imagery for that region. Bing Maps is continuously adding imagery in new areas and updating coverage in areas of existing coverage. This map does not include bird's eye imagery. Information regarding monthly updates of imagery coverage are available on the Bing Community blog. Post a comment to the Bing Community blog to request imagery vintage information for a specific area.Tip: The Bing Maps Aerial service is one of the basemaps used in the ArcGIS.com map viewer and ArcGIS Explorer Online. Simply click one of those links to launch the interactive application of your choice, and then choose Bing Maps Aerial from the Basemap control to start browsing! You'll also find this service in the Basemap gallery in ArcGIS Explorer Desktop and ArcGIS Desktop 10.If you need information on how to access Bing Maps, information is available in the ArcGIS Online Content Resource Center.See Bing Maps (http://www.bing.com/maps) for more information about the Bing Maps mapping system, terms of use, and a complete list of data suppliers.

    Description

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Aerial Photography data set includes over 2.5 million film transparencies. Beginning in 1937, photographs were acquired for mapping purposes at different altitudes using various focal lengths and film types. The resultant black-and-white photographs contain less than 5 percent cloud cover and were acquired under rigid quality control and project specifications (e.g., stereo coverage, continuous area coverage of map or administrative units). Prior to the initiation of the National High Altitude Photography (NHAP) program in 1980, the USGS photography collection was one of the major sources of aerial photographs used for mapping the United States. Since 1980, the USGS has acquired photographs over project areas that require photographs at a larger scale than the photographs in the NHAP and National Aerial Photography Program collections.

    Description

High resolution orthorectified images combine the image characteristics of an aerial photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. An orthoimage is a uniform-scale image where corrections have been made for feature displacement such as building tilt and for scale variations caused by terrain relief, sensor geometry, and camera tilt. A mathematical equation based on ground control points, sensor calibration information, and a digital elevation model is applied to each pixel to rectify the image to obtain the geometric qualities of a map.

A digital orthoimage may be created from several photographs mosaicked to form the final image. The source imagery may be black-and-white, natural color, or color infrared with a pixel resolution of 1-meter or finer. With orthoimagery, the resolution refers to the distance on the ground represented by each pixel.

This Hub contains information, resources and discovery of Commonwealth Historical Aerial Photography across Australia. Geoscience Australia has developed the Historical Aerial Photography (HAP) collection in an online data delivery system. Using the application, uses can search and download the commonwealth photography collection for free. The hub demonstrates the breadth of the collection and showcases the efforts in collecting and curating an extensive physical collection of film and documents.

Geoscience Australia has the most extensive historical aerial photography collection in terms of land coverage and time (from 1928-1996). This online catalogue provides means of easy search of the collection records. The mapping system allows users to understand what information is available and, if digitised, to preview and download the image data.

The application contains a map which users can search areas, current location or an area of interest, as well as customize the search criteria (date range, film number etc). The search results list the available aerial photography or flight line diagram, and if is available for direct download for free.

A python GIS script was used to rapidly clip the images and georeference them versus doing them by hand which would have taken several months. The aerial photos were not scanned uniformaly, so there was not a high accuracy in the first

    Description

This dataset contains paired high resolution orthorectified aerial photography provided by the Waikato Region Aerial Photography initiative, paired with Sentinel-2 satellite images. These images were collected as part of a satellite imagery super-resolution research project. The aerial photograph was down-sampled to a spatial resolution of 2.5m per pixel, while the satellite images were taken at a spatial resolution of 10m per pixel. The satellite images were taken from 8 fly-bys between 16th January to 2nd March 2019 so that it is temporally consistent with the aerial photographs taken in February of 2019.

    Description

The State of Indiana Geographic Information Office (GIO) has published a State-wide Digital Aerial Imagery Catalog consisting of orthoimagery files from 2016-2019 and 2021 – 2022 in Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF (COG) format on the AWS Registry of Open Data Account. These COG formatted files support the dynamic imagery services available from the GIO ESRI-based imagery solution. The Open Data on AWS is a repository of publicly available datasets for access from AWS resources. These datasets are owned and maintained by the Indiana GIO. These images are licensed by Creative Commons 0 (CC0). Cloud Optimized GeoTIF behaves as a GeoTIFF in all products; however, the optimization becomes apparent when incorporating them into web services.

    Description

This one foot pixel resolution black and white aerial photography was flown April 5, 2004 at a negative scale of 1" = 1666 (a scale ratio of 1:20000) flying at an altitude of 10,000 feet above mean terrain. The files are provided in JPEG2000, an open format supported by most GIS and CAD software packages. Its intended usage for viewing is 1" = 200. The photography has been orthorectified to meet National Map Accuracy Standards for its capture scale. The images are georeferenced to the Illinois State Plane, Eastern Zone, using the NAD83 HARN horizontal datum. The data set is tiled for dissemination into many separate tiles. Each tile is a section in the Public Land Survey System. The first two digits are the township, the next two are the range and the final two are the section.
