The dataset tabulates the data for the Colorado population pyramid, which represents the Colorado population distribution across age and gender, using estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. It lists the male and female population for each age group, along with the total population for those age groups. Higher numbers at the bottom of the table suggest population growth, whereas higher numbers at the top indicate declining birth rates. Furthermore, the dataset can be utilized to understand the youth dependency ratio, old-age dependency ratio, total dependency ratio, and potential support ratio.

The dataset tabulates the population of Colorado by gender across 18 age groups. It lists the male and female population in each age group along with the gender ratio for Colorado. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Colorado by gender and age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group for both Men and Women in Colorado. Additionally, it can be used to see how the gender ratio changes from birth to senior most age group and male to female ratio across each age group for Colorado.

Please note that American Community Survey asks a question about the respondents current sex, but not about gender, sexual orientation, or sex at birth. The question is intended to capture data for biological sex, not gender. Respondents are supposed to respond with the answer as either of Male or Female. Our research and this dataset mirrors the data reported as Male and Female for gender distribution analysis.

The 55 to 59 years old age cohort exhibits the largest discrepancy with a difference of 90 people between the sexes. Furthermore, majority of the population is between the ages 70 to 74 years old, comprising 10.71 per cent of the population. Meanwhile, 51.76 per cent are part of its working-age population, or those between the ages 15 to 64 years old, while 22.23 per cent make up the younger population that will also be part of the labour force in two decades or less. At the present, 612 people are expected to retire in the coming years.

Age-sex charts emphasize the gap between the numbers of males and females at a specific age group. It also illustrates the age and gender trends across all age and gender groupings. A top heavy chart describes a very young population while a bottom heavy chart illustrates an aging population.
This statistic shows the percentage of youth or young adults that used cannabis within the past month in Colorado from 2009-2012 and from 2013-2016. After 2013 cannabis use was legalized in Colorado. According to the data, among those aged 18-25 years 26.2 percent used cannabis prior to legalization. After legalization 31.1 percent of those aged 18-25 years used cannabis within the past month.

These data represent the predicted (modeled) prevalence of Fair or Poor Health Status among adults (Age 18+) for each census tract in Colorado. General health status was self-reported as 'fair' or 'poor' as opposed to 'good', 'very good', or 'excellent'.The estimate for each census tract represents an average that was derived from multiple years of Colorado Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data (2014-2017).CDPHE used a model-based approach to measure the relationship between age, race, gender, poverty, education, location and health conditions or risk behavior indicators and applied this relationship to predict the number of persons' who have the health conditions or risk behavior for each census tract in Colorado. We then applied these probabilities, based on demographic stratification, to the 2013-2017 American Community Survey population estimates and determined the percentage of adults with the health conditions or risk behavior for each census tract in Colorado. The estimates are based on statistical models and are not direct survey estimates. Using the best available data, CDPHE was able to model census tract estimates based on demographic data and background knowledge about the distribution of specific health conditions and risk behaviors. The estimates are displayed in both the map and data table using point estimate values for each census tract and displayed using a Quintile range. The high and low value for each color on the map is calculated based on dividing the total number of census tracts in Colorado (1249) into five groups based on the total range of estimates for all Colorado census tracts. Each Quintile range represents roughly 20% of the census tracts in Colorado. No estimates are provided for census tracts with a known population of less than 50. These census tracts are displayed in the map as "No Est, Pop < 50."No estimates are provided for 7 census tracts with a known population of less than 50 or for the 2 census tracts that exclusively contain a federal correctional institution as 100% of their population. These 9 census tracts are displayed in the map as "No Estimate."

The CDPHE Colorado Reportable Disease dataset contains yearly case count and rate data for reportable diseases and conditions monitored by the Communicable Disease Branch at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), as displayed in the Colorado Reportable Disease Data dashboard for years 2015-2024. Reportable conditions not displayed in the visualization are monitored by other CDPHE programs, including hepatitis B, hepatitis C, sexually transmitted infections, tuberculosis, and lead. The data in this file will be updated yearly. Brief description of data fields (columns) included in this dataset:diagnosis: The name of the reportable disease or conditiononset_year: Based on the onset date of the illness. If the onset date is unavailable, then the earliest date among the following: the date the lab specimen was collected, the date the lab test was conducted, the date the lab was entered into the state’s database, or the date the disease or condition was first reported to public health.metric: Available sections include age group (based on age at onset of illness), county (based on county of residence at diagnosis), onset month (based on the same criteria as onset_year), and state (Colorado). category: Available sections corresponding to the appropriate metric include individual age groups, all Colorado counties, Colorado when metric = state, and months of the year (January - December).total: Case count for selected onset_year, metric, and group; age group information is not displayed when the annual case count is equal to one and is designated by “**” in the dataset.population: population for selected onset_year, metric, and grouprate_per_100k: Case rate per 100,000 population for selected onset_year, metric and group; age group information is not displayed when the annual case count is equal to one and is designated by “**” in the dataset.
Cases of West Nile Virus by Age Group & Gender
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has developed community-level estimates for adults in a set of 14 important health condition and risk behavior indicators. The dataset includes indicators on adult asthma prevalence, cigarette smoking prevalence, coronary heart disease prevalence, percent of adults who delayed medical care due to cost, diabetes prevalence, binge drinking and heavy alcohol consumption, percent of adults with fair or poor health status, mental distress, percent of adults with no routine medical checkup in the past 12 month, obesity and overweight prevalence, percent of adults that did not report doing physical activity or exercise, and percent of adults with frequent physical distress. These four-year estimates (2013-2016) have been produced for each census tract in the State of Colorado based on modeled survey data collected in the Colorado Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) and incorporating population, race, gender, and age estimates for each census tract from the American Community Survey. CDPHE's Community Level Estimates are output from statistical models used to generate health condition and risk behavior estimates for smaller geographies than traditional surveillance systems report. The estimates are produced using a multilevel model that incorporates individual Colorado Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) survey responses in addition to socio-demographic and contextual information about each census tract from the U.S. Census (American Community Survey). The individual survey responses related to a health condition or risk behavior from the Colorado BRFSS are nested within geographic boundaries (counties) where both individual characteristics (demographic) as well as sociodemographic characteristics can be used to model the probability of having a health condition or risk behavior at the census tract geography.
In 2023, about **** percent of the population in Colorado was between the ages of 25 and 34 years old. A further **** percent of the population was between the ages of 35 and 44 years old in that same year.
