    Description

IntroductionProviding one-on-one support to large cohorts is challenging, yet emerging AI technologies show promise in bridging the gap between the support students want and what educators can provide. They offer students a way to engage with their course material in a way that feels fluent and instinctive. Whilst educators may have views on the appropriates for AI, the tools themselves, as well as the novel ways in which they can be used, are continually changing.MethodsThe aim of this study was to probe students' familiarity with AI tools, their views on its current uses, their understanding of universities' AI policies, and finally their impressions of its importance, both to their degree and their future careers. We surveyed 453 psychology and sport science students across two institutions in the UK, predominantly those in the first and second year of undergraduate study, and conducted a series of five focus groups to explore the emerging themes of the survey in more detail.ResultsOur results showed a wide range of responses in terms of students' familiarity with the tools and what they believe AI tools could and should not be used for. Most students emphasized the importance of understanding how AI tools function and their potential applications in both their academic studies and future careers. The results indicated a strong desire among students to learn more about AI technologies. Furthermore, there was a significant interest in receiving dedicated support for integrating these tools into their coursework, driven by the belief that such skills will be sought after by future employers. However, most students were not familiar with their university's published AI policies.DiscussionThis research on pedagogical methods supports a broader long-term ambition to better understand and improve our teaching, learning, and student engagement through the adoption of AI and the effective use of technology and suggests a need for a more comprehensive approach to communicating these important guidelines on an on-going basis, especially as the tools and guidelines evolve.

    Description

Global businesses are actively embracing Industry 4.0 and digital transformation. Simultaneously, the education sector is leveraging digital tools to foster personalized learning and equity. Universities transcending borders and students becoming increasingly global have opened new frontiers through the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools in education. Since the role of AI is inevitable in future education, current research aims to identify the level of awareness of faculty members on the applicability and adoption of artificial intelligence. The study also intended to discover how AI enhanced their learning experience and impacted the degree of work engagement of teachers in higher education. A cluster and multi-stage sampling method was employed to select 250 faculty members from QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) ranked institutions operating in hybrid education modes. Utilizing a quantitative research approach and a structural equation model, factors influencing AI adoption in this context were explored. The findings revealed that AI implementation led to the evolution of robust evaluation and assessment methods, resulting in heightened faculty engagement levels. The study identified that perceived risk, performance expectancy, and awareness play significant roles in influencing work engagement and the adoption of AI within the higher education system through mediating variables, specifically attitude, and behavior.

    AI-Powered College Admissions Market Outlook

According to our latest research, the AI-powered college admissions market size reached USD 1.21 billion globally in 2024, reflecting the rapid integration of artificial intelligence in higher education decision-making. The market is projected to grow at a robust CAGR of 18.7% from 2025 to 2033. By the end of 2033, the market is expected to reach approximately USD 6.23 billion. This strong growth is being driven by the increasing demand for data-driven, unbiased, and scalable solutions that streamline and personalize the college admissions process for institutions and applicants alike.

One of the primary growth factors for the AI-powered college admissions market is the escalating need for efficiency and transparency in the admissions process. Traditional college admissions are often labor-intensive, subjective, and susceptible to human biases, leading to inconsistencies and inefficiencies. AI-powered platforms offer advanced analytics, machine learning algorithms, and predictive modeling, enabling institutions to evaluate applications holistically and consistently. These systems can process vast volumes of data, including academic records, extracurricular achievements, and personal essays, in a fraction of the time required by manual methods. As a result, universities and colleges are increasingly adopting AI solutions to improve the accuracy and fairness of their admissions decisions, while also reducing administrative burdens and operational costs.

Another significant driver is the rising internationalization of higher education. With more students seeking cross-border educational opportunities, the complexity of evaluating diverse academic backgrounds and qualifications has increased exponentially. AI-powered admissions systems can efficiently normalize and compare credentials from different countries, assess language proficiency, and identify the best-fit candidates for specific programs. This capability is particularly valuable for institutions aiming to attract a global talent pool and diversify their student body. Furthermore, the integration of AI in scholarship and financial aid management is enabling more precise matching of students to funding opportunities, thereby enhancing access and equity in higher education.

The proliferation of digital technologies and the growing investments in EdTech are also fueling market expansion. Colleges, universities, and educational consultants are leveraging AI to offer personalized guidance, automate routine tasks, and generate actionable insights from large datasets. The COVID-19 pandemic further accelerated digital transformation in education, prompting institutions to adopt AI-driven tools for virtual interviews, document verification, and predictive enrollment modeling. As regulatory frameworks evolve and data privacy concerns are addressed, the adoption of AI-powered admissions solutions is expected to accelerate further, solidifying their role as indispensable tools in modern higher education.

From a regional perspective, North America currently dominates the AI-powered college admissions market, accounting for approximately 41% of global revenue in 2024. This leadership is attributed to the presence of leading EdTech companies, high digital literacy rates, and significant investments in AI research and development. Europe follows closely, with universities embracing AI to enhance international recruitment and streamline admissions processes. The Asia Pacific region is witnessing the fastest growth, driven by the rapid expansion of higher education infrastructure and increasing government initiatives to digitalize education. Latin America and the Middle East & Africa are also showing promising growth trajectories, albeit from a smaller base, as institutions in these regions recognize the potential of AI to address local challenges in access, equity, and efficiency.

    Component Analysis

The AI-powered college admissions market is segmented by component into software and services, each playing a pivotal role in transforming the admissions landscape. The software segment, which includes AI-driven platforms, analytics tools, and machine learning algorithms, accounted for the largest market share in 2024. These solutions are designed to automate application screening, perform sentiment analysis on essays, and provide predictive analytics for enrollment management. The growin

    Description

IntroductionThe study investigates the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education (HE) and its impact on pre-service teachers at the University of Latvia (UL) by exploring pre-service teachers' perceptions of the benefits and challenges of AI in both their academic learning and their future professional roles as educators, particularly regarding the promotion of inclusive education.MethodsData was collected via an online survey of 240 pre-service teachers across various disciplines at the UL. The survey included demographic details, AI usage patterns, and perceived benefits and challenges. Responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Kruskal-Wallis H tests, Spearman's correlation, and thematic analysis.ResultsLess than half of the participants used AI in their studies, with many expressing ambivalence or opposition toward AI. Benefits included language assistance and accessibility to global knowledge, while challenges involved reduced critical thinking and concerns over plagiarism. Despite recognizing AI's potential to promote inclusivity, most pre-service teachers have not applied it in practice. No significant differences in AI perceptions were found based on age, gender, or study level.DiscussionThe findings highlight a low adoption rate of AI among pre-service teachers and a gap between theoretical recognition of AI's potential and its practical application, particularly for inclusion. The study emphasizes the need for HE institutions to enhance AI literacy and readiness among future teachers.ConclusionAI is underutilized by pre-service teachers in both HE learning and teaching environments, which has implications for teacher preparation programs that better integrate AI literacy and inclusive practices.
