This public feature service is maintained for the Nashua Regional Planning Commission's (NRPC) member municipalities, their stakeholders, and the wider GIS community. The service contains the most frequently-requested, general-purpose GIS basemap datasets that are originated and maintained by NRPC. This GIS datalayer is based upon the NH Conserved/Public Lands attribute model published by NH Granit. In 2014 NRPC began with that statewide dataset and refined the geography of those parcels to coincide with the NRPC parcel dataset. From there, NRPC mapped approximately 400 additional conserved land trascts based upon input from the area's conservaton commissions. Using the Hillsborough County Registry of Deeds online databse, the NRPC conducted extensive deed research to determine key attributes such as primary protection mechanism(s), managing agency, etc. NRPC publishes these data on maps and in its flagship online viewer. There is no systematic process for maintenance; rather, corrections and edits are made as they are reported by stakeholders. The Amherst Conservation Commission (ACC) serves as the forest management authority for Amherst’s town forests and forested conservation lands, comprising 11 major areas and totaling almost 1,800 acres.Developed during the last update of the Town's Forest Management Plan, these data containing detailed information on Amherst’s forest stands, including forest stand ages, stocking densities, species composition, harvest history, significant wildlife elements, invasive species, access for management, among other variables and provides a platform for interactive spatial analysis of the database to assist in developing forest management interventions.

This layer is a modified version of the 1:24K USGS DLG-derived political boundaries datalayer provided by NH Granit. Subtle deviations in the linework between this layer and Granit's reflect, 1) NRPC's adoption MassGIS's representation of the state boundary between New Hampshire and Massachusetts using survey points, and, 2) areas where town-originated digital parcel data overlapped, in which case the placement of the town boundary is at the estimated midpoint of the overlap, and the digital parcels were then edge-matched accordingly.
