    Description

In the ANES Time Series Cumulative Data File, the project staff have merged into a single file all cross-section cases and variables for select questions from the ANES Time Series studies conducted since 1948. Questions that have been asked in three or more Time Series studies are eligible for inclusion, with variables recoded as necessary for comparability across years.

The data track political attitudes and behaviors across the decades, including attitudes about religion. This dataset is unique given its size and comprehensive assessment of politics and religion over time. For information about the structure of the cumulative file, please see the notes listed on this page.

    Description

Replication data for Crowded out: The effects of concurrent elections on voter learning and behavior in the United States. This contains two files. The analysis of turnout data is built from the US Elections Project using state-level turnout data from 1982-2000. Then I use ANES cumulative file data from 1982-2000 to analyze how people react to concurrent elections. Figure 1 is analyzed in SPSS while the rest of the figures and tables are generated in Stata.

    Description

Documentation and data for replication in the three data sets analyzed in "It's Nothing Personal: The Decline of the Incumbency Advantage in U.S. House Elections." Contains data sets incorporating variables from the ANES Cumulative Data File, the 2012 ANES Time Series Study, and a set of aggregate data compiled by the author. Data are in Stata format and documentation describes the variables and gives the State commands necessary to replicate the data used in the figures in the paper.
