A basic condition for the provision of the data is — as a minimum — the provision/making available to consumers of a free base edition of the Observatory. Weekly on-highway diesel prices (dollars per gallon) from the Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration. This data includes the average diesel fuel price for the U.S. and five Petroleum Administration for Defense Districts (PADDs) (including PADD subcomponents). There are ten variables in total: "U.S."; "East Coast" (PADD1), broken out further by "New England" (PADD1A), "Central Atlantic" (PADD1B), and "Lower Atlantic" (PADD1C); "Midwest" (PADD2); "Gulf Coast" (PADD3); "Rocky Mountain" (PADD4); and "West Coast" (PADD5), broken out further by "West Coast excluding California" and "California." Gasoline increased 0.22 USD/GAL or 10.89% since the beginning of 2025, according to trading on a contract for difference (CFD) that tracks the benchmark market for this commodity. Gasoline - values, historical data, forecasts and news - updated on March of 2025.

This table contains pump prices for motor fuels at petrol stations. Weighted average daily prices are published of petrol Euro95, diesel oil and LPG including VAT and excise duties. These daily prices are published once a week.

The Fuel API has been developed as a means of accessing live fuel pricing across NSW service stations. Beginning in 2005, the Division of Community and Regional Affairs began collecting prices of heating fuel and unleaded gasoline in 100 select communities. The communities have remained constant since the project’s inception. The prices for heating fuel in these 100 communities are collected via a telephone survey of each fuel retailer. Survey methodology has evolved over time; however, the reported prices should be considered representative of what a community resident would have paid for a gallon of heating fuel (including tax) on the day of contact.
