    In September 2020, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors directed staff to document telecommunication projects completed, in-progress, and future projects, using the 2014 Wireless GAP Analysis and the Segra Dark Fiber Area Network. Staff mapped the data identified by the Board, as well as other information related to telecommunication projects. This information was then used to identify select unserved or underserved geographic areas of the county.

    The companion interactive map allows the user to turn on or off all layers used in the project.

    Telecommunication is used to show the existing telecommunication antenna sites in Loudoun County. The coverage includes antennas mounted on buildings as well as mounted on a tower or monopole. It can also be used to analyze existing signal propagation and plan for new telecommunication antenna sites in Loudoun County.

    Field List and Explanations:

    SITE_ID – Application number or unique identification number assigned during telecom inventory efforts. If the Commission Permit Number (CMPT) is known, this is listed here

    Location – Street Address of Telecom Facility

    Status – Construction Status (currently only built towers are mapped)

    SITE_ID_2 – Additional Application Numbers or unique identifiers that have been assigned to the telecommunication facility

    TE_SITE_NAME – General Name of the telecommunication facility. This may be a more common name referring to the use, location or owner of the facility

    TE_TYPE – Type of Telecommunication Facility

    TE_FCC – Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Antenna Structure Registration (ASR) Number, where available

    TE_GE – Ground Elevation as reported on the Commission Permit, if known. Use current elevation dataset for ground elevation if feasible.

    TE_AGL – Above Ground Level, feet. If this was unknown, an approximate height was captured from available resources/tools. For additional information on manually collected information, please see the TE_NOTES field.

    TE_NOTES – An applicable notes related to the facility, the data related to the facility or status
