    Description

The Digital Geologic-GIS Map of Guilford Courthouse National Military Park and Vicinity, North Carolina is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (guco_geology.gdb), a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage, and 3.) 2.2 KMZ/KML file for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information. The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file (guco_geology.mapx) and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), as well as with a 2.) 10.1 ArcMap (.mxd) map document (guco_geology.mxd) and individual 10.1 layer (.lyr) files (for each GIS data layer). The OGC geopackage is supported with a QGIS project (.qgz) file. Upon request, the GIS data is also available in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format. Contact Stephanie O'Meara (see contact information below) to acquire the GIS data in these GIS data formats. In addition to the GIS data and supporting GIS files, three additional files comprise a GRI digital geologic-GIS dataset or map: 1.) A GIS readme file (guco_geology_gis_readme.pdf), 2.) the GRI ancillary map information document (.pdf) file (guco_geology.pdf) which contains geologic unit descriptions, as well as other ancillary map information and graphics from the source map(s) used by the GRI in the production of the GRI digital geologic-GIS data for the park, and 3.) a user-friendly FAQ PDF version of the metadata (guco_geology_metadata_faq.pdf). Please read the guco_geology_gis_readme.pdf for information pertaining to the proper extraction of the GIS data and other map files. Google Earth software is available for free at: https://www.google.com/earth/versions/. QGIS software is available for free at: https://www.qgis.org/en/site/. Users are encouraged to only use the Google Earth data for basic visualization, and to use the GIS data for any type of data analysis or investigation. The data were completed as a component of the Geologic Resources Inventory (GRI) program, a National Park Service (NPS) Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) Division funded program that is administered by the NPS Geologic Resources Division (GRD). For a complete listing of GRI products visit the GRI publications webpage: For a complete listing of GRI products visit the GRI publications webpage: https://www.nps.gov/subjects/geology/geologic-resources-inventory-products.htm. For more information about the Geologic Resources Inventory Program visit the GRI webpage: https://www.nps.gov/subjects/geology/gri,htm. At the bottom of that webpage is a "Contact Us" link if you need additional information. You may also directly contact the program coordinator, Jason Kenworthy (jason_kenworthy@nps.gov). Source geologic maps and data used to complete this GRI digital dataset were provided by the following: North Carolina Geological Survey. Detailed information concerning the sources used and their contribution the GRI product are listed in the Source Citation section(s) of this metadata record (guco_geology_metadata.txt or guco_geology_metadata_faq.pdf). Users of this data are cautioned about the locational accuracy of features within this dataset. Based on the source map scale of 1:125,000 and United States National Map Accuracy Standards features are within (horizontally) 63.5 meters or 208.3 feet of their actual location as presented by this dataset. Users of this data should thus not assume the location of features is exactly where they are portrayed in Google Earth, ArcGIS, QGIS or other software used to display this dataset. All GIS and ancillary tables were produced as per the NPS GRI Geology-GIS Geodatabase Data Model v. 2.3. (available at: https://www.nps.gov/articles/gri-geodatabase-model.htm).

    Description

This data set contains a variety of easements that are captured from recorded subdivision plats and easement plats. Once a document has been recorded then the GIS Division receives that document and creates any features that are shown on the recorded document. This layer contains the easement type by category and the name of the easement as stated on the plat. For newer easements there is also the deed book and deed page. This is used to perform research on the original document in the Courts system.

This layer does not contain all easements. There are many easements before the GIS Division started capturing all easements that did not get into the layer because they were not on the original mylars where this data was captured from. Also, in 2016 the GIS Division stopped capturing stormwater easements into this layer as there is different layer that contains the stormwater related easements.

AFRAA Data Upgrade & Transition Plan for 2025 Fire Season

Given the mission-critical nature of AFRAA dataset and federal mandates, the FS Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and AFRAA data stewards will fully support the legacy map services throughout the 2025 fire season before retirement. The latest 2025 data, approved by Forest Service Regional Forester and GIS Coordinators, has been integrated into legacy schemas, ensuring authoritative data while maintaining backward compatibility for applications relying on legacy endpoints.

What You Need to KnowWhere is the New Data

Most users will use the new map image service REST endpoints:

    https://apps.fs.usda.gov/arcx/rest/services/EDW/EDW_AerialFireRetardantAvoidanceAreas_Aquatic_01/MapServer https://apps.fs.usda.gov/arcx/rest/services/EDW/EDW_AerialFireRetardantAvoidanceAreas_Terrestrial_01/MapServer

Metadata is available in these ArcGIS items that reference the new map services:

Fire_AerialFireRetardantAvoidanceAreas_Aquatic (Landing Page) Fire_AerialFireRetardantAvoidanceAreas_Terrestrial (Landing Page)

Sync Enable ArcGIS Online Hosted Feature Services:

Aquatic Hosted Feature Service Terrestrial Hosted Feature Service

Internal FS users can make direct SDE connections (see detailed instructions on the AFRAA SharePoint ). Downloadable Data from the FS GeoData Clearinghouse:

    Fire_AerialFireRetardantAvoidanceAreas_Aquatic.gdb.zip Fire_AerialFireRetardantAvoidanceAreas_Terrestrial.gdb.zip

When Will the Legacy Product Be Retired?

March 14, 2025 – New terrestrial map service available, and a deprecation watermark is added to the legacy service. March 14, 2025 - Region 3 approved 2025 aquatic data via the legacy service endpoint. April 1, 2025 – All 2025 approved data loaded into both new and legacy services. April 1, 2025 – New aquatic service published, and a deprecation watermark is added to the legacy service. April 1, 2025 – Legacy download products removed from the Clearinghouse and replaced with the new versions. April 7, 2025 – Sync enabled Hosted Feature Services published to ArcGIS Online October 1, 2025 – Legacy services stopped. Fire personnel can contact SM.FS.afraa@usda.gov during regular business hours if unknown dependencies are discovered. The services will be restarted if needed. November 1, 2025 – Unless an extension is requested, legacy services will be deleted, and all feature classes will be removed from EDW, making the data inaccessible.

    Description

This indicator provides information about lead exposure risk for census tracts in Los Angeles County based on self-reported housing and poverty data. Using methods implemented by New York University for the City Health Dashboard, a lead risk index score ranging from 1 to 10 was assigned to each census tract with available data, with a score of 1 indicating the lowest risk and a score of 10 indicating the highest risk for lead exposure.Lead is a heavy metal that has negative impacts on nearly every system in the body, particularly the brain, kidneys, and blood. Although lead paint was phased out in the 1970s, legacy lead paint and dust remain primary sources of lead exposure in the US. Literature on lead poisoning consistently finds two factors to be correlated with lead exposure risk: the age of houses (which predicts the likelihood of lead paint) and poverty. While all people can be affected by lead, young children and pregnant persons are the most vulnerable. Irreversible neurodevelopment effects, including decreased IQ, shortened attention span, and reduced fine motor skills, occur at even low levels of lead exposure. At high levels, anemia, high blood pressure, seizures, and death can occur. There is no known safe level of lead exposure for children. For more information about the Community Health Profiles Data Initiative, please see the initiative homepage.

    Description

A dataset of well information and geospatial data was developed for 426 U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) observation wells in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. An extensive list of attributes is included about each well, its location, and water-level history to provide the public and water-resources community with comprehensive information on the USGS well network in New England and data available from these sites. These data may be useful for evaluating groundwater conditions and variability across the region. The well list and site attributes, which were extracted from USGS National Water Information System (NWIS), represent all of the active wells in the New England network up to the end of 2017, and an additional 45 wells that were inactive (discontinued or replaced by a nearby well) at that time. Inactive wells were included in the database because they (1) contain periods of water-level record that may be useful for groundwater assessments, (2) may become active again at some point, or (3) are being monitored by another agency (most discontinued New Hampshire wells are still being monitored and the data are available in the National Groundwater Monitoring Network (https://cida.usgs.gov/ngwmn/index.jsp). The wells in this database have been sites of water-level data collection (periodic levels and/or continuous levels) for an average of 31 years. Water-level records go back to 1913. The groundwater-level statistics included in the dataset represent hydrologic conditions for the period of record for inactive wells, or through the end of water year 2017 (September 30, 2017) for active wells. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data layers were compiled from various sources and dates ranging from 2003 to 2018. These GIS data were used to calculate attributes related to topographic setting, climate, land cover, soil, and geology giving hydrologic and environmental context to each well. In total, the data include 90 attributes for each well. In addition to site number and station name, attributes were developed for site information (15 attributes); groundwater-level statistics through water year 2017 (16 attributes); well-construction information (9 attributes); topographic setting (11 attributes); climate (2 attributes); land use and cover (17 attributes); soils (4 attributes); and geology (14 attributes). Basic well and site information includes well location, period of record, well-construction details, continuous versus intermittent data collection, and ground altitudes. Attributes that may influence groundwater levels include: well depth, location of open or screened interval, aquifer type, surficial and bedrock geology, topographic position, flow distance to surface water, land use and cover near the well, soil texture and drainage, precipitation, and air temperature.
