    This web map features a vector basemap of OpenStreetMap (OSM) data created and hosted by Esri. Esri produced this vector tile basemap in ArcGIS Pro from a live replica of OSM data, hosted by Esri, and rendered using a creative cartographic style emulating a blueprint technical drawing. The vector tiles are updated every few weeks with the latest OSM data. This vector basemap is freely available for any user or developer to build into their web map or web mapping apps.OpenStreetMap (OSM) is an open collaborative project to create a free editable map of the world. Volunteers gather location data using GPS, local knowledge, and other free sources of information and upload it. The resulting free map can be viewed and downloaded from the OpenStreetMap site: www.OpenStreetMap.org. Esri is a supporter of the OSM project and is excited to make this new vector basemap available available to the OSM, GIS, and Developer communities.

    The spatial location of the points in this feature class was determined from the study document. The locations are somewhat general and are only meant to guide users to the area of the study. Georeferencing of the plans within the study document was not performed. In general, points were placed at the furthest downstream design point and were always snapped to a hydrology line. In cases where the study did not specify the design point, the point was snapped to an intersection of the property boundary and a hydrology line along which a cross section was taken. In cases where the stream did not actually intersect the property, the point was placed near the furthest downstream cross section location.The attribute data for this feature class was compiled primarily from existing flood study feature classes developed by _? and secondarily from study document itself.

    Description

    We are applying Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to new orbital data sets for lunar resource assessment and the identification of past habitable environments on Mars. GIS has not previously been used for planetary resource assessment and its applicability to martian habitability is in its infancy. NASA has recognized the interest in this technology with the recent establishment of a NASA-wide Enterprise Agreement with ESRI, the developers of ArcGIS. Lunar resource assessment is recognized as a key to future exploration and sustainability. The recognition of martian habitable environments is a top priority goal of NASA's Mars Program.

    This is a one-year project to apply a GIS analysis tool to new orbital data for lunar resource assessment and martian habitability identification. We used ArcGIS, the state-of-the-art software for mapping, integrating, and analysis of spatial data. We focused on the assessment of several regional lunar pyroclastic deposits and habitability analysis in the Chryse-Acidalia portion of the martian lowlands. This work expands upon a previous 3-year project enabled through IRD funds.     Description
    Watershed works with either interactively contributing points or by specifying a layer containing points. Watershed has several optional parameters:
    • Point Identification Field: A string or integer field that supplies a name or ID to each point.
    • Snap Distance: This is the maximum distance that an input point can be moved by the tool. Interactively contributed points or gauge locations may not be exactly coincident with stream locations in the elevation model. The service will move points to be optimally located relative to the flows in the elevation model if they are not already there.
    • Snap Distance Units: The units of measurement for the Snap Distance.
    • Source Database: Available source databases include US30m National Elevation Dataset (NED) for the continental United States (US Geological Survey, 2010-2011), US10m National Elevation Dataset (NED) for Hawaii, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands, and the 90m HydroSHEDS for the world between 60 degrees North and 56 degrees South, plus some areas in Canada and Alaska north of 60 degrees. Please refer to the locator map for detailed information about available areas. Additional areas and resolutions will be available in the future.
    • Input Features: The maximum number of input features is 100.
    Esri processed the source data to derive additional layers required to support high performance and scalable watershed delineation and downstream trace tasks. The source data were the same elevation, Hydrologic Unit boundaries, streams and waterbodies that were used by the Environmental Protection Agency and US Geological Survey to produce NHDPlus V2.1. Sinks were filled unless they fell within a Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) closed basin, ensuring that flow will only terminate in endorheic regions. The Esri hydroconditioning process differs from the NHDPlus V2.1 process; therefore the resulting watershed delineations and downstream traces do not always match those from NHDPlus V2.1.
