    In Assam, the share of males with multiple disabilities was at 1.7 percent. This made up the largest share among disabled individuals in the state. According to the 76th round of the NSO survey conducted between July and December 2018, a higher percentage of disabled men than disabled women were present in India, reflected in the north-eastern state.     The data shown is year-wise decennial population for states and union territories in India from year 1901 to 2011.

    Note: 1) Arunachal Pradesh was censused for the first time in 1961. 2) The 1981 Census could not be held owing to disturbed conditions prevailing in Assam. Hence the population figures for 1981 of Assam has been worked out by 'Interpolation'. 3) Uttaranchal , Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh states carved out from UP, Bihar and MP respectively are censused for the first time in 2001. 4) The 1991 Census was not held in Jammu & Kashmir.
