The dataset includes information in the following specified areas of economy and industry: Business Entries and Exists, Buildings Approvals, Residential Property Prices, Mean Household Net Worth, Patent and Trademark Applications, Insolvencies, Motor Vehicle Census, Tourist Accommodation Establishments, Agricultural Commodities, Gross Value of Agricultural Production and Industry of Employment. Data by Region contains a standard set of data for each region type, depending on the availability of statistics for particular geographies. Data are sourced from a wide variety of collections, both ABS and non-ABS. When analysing these statistics, care needs to be taken as time periods, definitions, methodologies, scope and coverage can differ across collections. Where available, data have been presented as a time series - to enable users to assess changes over time. However, when looked at on a period to period basis, some series may sometimes appear volatile. This dataset contains counts of the total usual resident population and total dwelling count from the 2016 Census of Population and Housing for Mesh Blocks, aggregated to Statistical Area Level 4 (SA4) for the AURIN Portal. Data is current for Census Night 9 August 2016 and describes geographic Australia; including Norfolk Island, the Territory of Christmas Island and the Territory of Cocos (Keeling) Islands, but does not include any other external Territory. Data are arranged under the broad themes/topics of Economy, Industry, People, and Energy and Environment. Please note some data are not available for all reference years, for a variety of reasons. For example; there may be conceptual breaks in a data series; the collection frequency may be irregular; some series may have revisions pending; or permission to publish in the NRP may have only been granted recently. In addition, some data series are not available for the full range of geographies. The reasons can include: data owner or custodian preferences; industry identification with a few, particular geographies only; confidentiality protection; and the presence of many suppressed data cells (at smaller geographic levels) thus making true aggregations up to larger ASGS regions difficult. This dataset was collected as part of the City of Melbourne's Census of Land Use and Employment (CLUE). The data shows the floor space (in square metres) per city (CLUE) block, classified by their space use and small area allocation. The data is aggregated to the 2016 Blocks for CLUE Boundaries and covers the year period of 2007. This dataset has been confidentialised to protect the commercially sensitive information of individual businesses. Data in cells which pertain to two or fewer businesses have been suppressed. The Correctional Facilities dataset was digitized in 2012 from the library of imagery held within Geoscience Australia. Imagery used ranged from 0.15m to 2.5m resolution. The primary information sources used to identify and attribute the correctional facilities was the State and Territory correctional or justice department websites. The Australian Institute of Criminology online correctional facility list was also utilized as authoritative validation source. This dataset, released in March 2018, contains the Index of Relative Socio-economic Disadvantage (IRSD), 2011. The data is by Population Health Area (PHA) 2016 geographic boundaries based on the 2016 Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS). Population Health Areas, developed by PHIDU, are comprised of a combination of whole SA2s and multiple (aggregates of) SA2s, where the SA2 is an area in the ABS structure. This dataset presents the footprint of the rate of closed treatment episodes and rate of clients by location of the client. A treatment episode is the period of contact between a client and a treatment provider where there are defined start (commencement) and end (cessation) dates. It is considered closed where any of the following occurs: treatment is completed or has ceased; there has been no contact between the client and treatment provider for 3 months; or there is a change in the main treatment type, principal drug of concern or delivery setting. The alcohol and other drug treatment services (AODTS) data is based on data reported to the AODTS National Minimum Dataset (NMDS). The data spans the financial year of 2016-2017 and is aggregated to 2015 Department of Health Primary Health Network (PHN) areas, based on the 2011 Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS). The AODTS data accompanies the Alcohol and other drug treatment services in Australia 2016-17 Report.

The data is aggregated to the 2016 Blocks for CLUE Boundaries and covers the year period of 2009. A business establishment is defined as a Commercial occupant in a building Separate land use Any permanent presence of economic activity in accordance with standard Industry classification (ANZSIC). Hence, if one organisation has its presence in several buildings in the CLUE area, each time it will be counted as a separate establishment. Consequently, the count of establishments presented in CLUE represents the number of locations, rather than 'enterprises'.
