The Australian Population Grid 2022 was created using estimated residential population (ERP) data for Statistical Areas Level 1 (SA1). The SA1 level ERP data was then modelled down to a 1km x 1km grid across geographic Australia using various point layers that represent population. The value of each grid cell represents the population density (number of people per square kilometre) in that 1km x 1km cell. This is modelled data and caution must be used in its interpretation, as the population has NOT been measured at the 1km cell level. Interactive map of patient-based age-standardised incidence rates in the state of Tasmania, Australia. Incidence rates are shown separately for each statistical geographic region (SA2, as defined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics). Crude incidence rates were estimated using the number of new patients as numerator (based on patients' residential address) and the corresponding region's population as denominator. The City of Port Adelaide Enfield Community Profile provides demographic and economic analysis for the Council area and its suburbs based on results from the 2016, 2011, 2006, 2001, 1996 and 1991 Censuses of Population and Housing. The profile is updated with population estimates when the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) releases new figures. This is an interactive query tool where results can be downloaded in various formats. Three reporting types are available from this resource: 1. Social atlas that delivers the data displayed on a map showing each SA1 area (approx 200 households), 2. Community Profile which delivers data at a District level which contain 2 to 3 suburbs, and 3. Economic Profile which reports statistics of an economic indicators. Over the past decade, Australia’s population has slowly increased and is expected to continue to do so over the next several years. A beautiful landscape, many work opportunities and a high quality of life helped play a role in the country’s development. In 2011, Australia was considered to have one of the highest life expectancies in the world, with the average Australian living to approximately 82 years of age.
From an employment standpoint, Australia has maintained a rather low employment rate compared to many other developed countries. After experiencing a significant jump in unemployment in 2009, primarily due to the world economic crisis, Australia has been able to remain stable and slightly increase employment year-over-year.

Statistical Areas Level 1 (SA1s) are designed to maximise the geographic detail available for Census of Population and Housing data while maintaining confidentiality.
SA1s are built from whole Mesh Blocks and have a population between 200 and 800 people. In remote and regional areas they generally have smaller populations than those in urban areas. SA1s are designed to represent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities as accurately as possible, particularly in remote areas.
Use SA1s to see how Census characteristics vary at a neighbourhood scale within larger areas such as Suburbs or Local Government Areas.

Towns in Time is a compilation of time series data for Victoria's towns covering the years 1981 to 2011. The data is based on Census data collected by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Towns in Time presents 2011 data for the 2011 definition of each town, together with data under the 2006 definition for 2006 and earlier years. A map showing the difference in the town's boundaries between 2006 and 2011 is attached to each data sheet. It is recommended the user assess this concordance when using time series data.

Human population density is a surrogate indicator of the extent of human pressures on the surrounding landscapes.
Areas with high population density are associated with higher levels of stream pollution and water diversion through sewers and drains. City and urban environments are substantially changed from their pre-European condition but a changed condition is not of itself necessarily poor by societal standards. It is the impacts such as polluted run-off to waterways, air pollution, sewage disposal, household water use and predation of wildlife by pets that confer impacts on catchment condition. Human population centres have an impact well beyond the built environment.
The impact of major population centres is well expressed in the AWRC map, but is best displayed in the 500 map. The main areas of impact are the major coastal and capital cities and suburbs, including popular beachside tourist destinations. Elsewhere, the impact of population density appears to be confined to the Murray and other major river valleys.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics compiles population statistics by sampling statistical local areas (SLAas) through the national census. These data can be converted to a per catchment basis.
Interpretation of the indicator is largely unequivocal, although there are land-uses/activities (e.g. mining) where population density is not a good indicator of the degree of habitat decline. This indicator has not been validated relative to habitat decline. This indicator is easy to understand.

This web mapping application provides information about the geographic distribution of relative socio-economic disadvantage and the contributing indicator variables derived from 2021 Census data, thereby providing a deeper understanding of local area disadvantage and its drivers.
The data used in this web mapping application is the Australian Bureau of Statistics Socio-Economic Index for Areas Index (SEIFA), Index Relative Socio-Economic Disadvantage (IRSD) 2021 by Statistical Area 1 (SA1) geography (Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) Edition 3) and includes mapping of the standardised variable proportions for each of the contributing IRSD indicator variables associated with socio-economic disadvantage. Please note, in calculating the SEIFA IRSD index the indicator variables are weighted, the standardised variable proportions mapped in this application are unweighted.
The SEIFA Indexes are calculated from area level data and therefore indicate the collective socio-economic characteristics of the people living in an area. While an area may be identified as relatively disadvantaged this does not mean that all individuals within that area are disadvantaged, only that relative to other areas, this area has a high proportion of relatively disadvantaged people. For detailed information on how to use the SEIFA data, please refer to the SEIFA 2021 Technical Paper. This application is designed primarily for desktop view.
