Load, wind, solar power generation and electricity prices in 15 minutes resolution

This data package contains different kinds of timeseries data relevant for power system modelling, namely electricity prices, electricity consumption (load) as well as wind and solar power generation and capacities. The data is aggregated either by country, control area or bidding zone. Geographical coverage includes the EU and some neighboring countries. All variables are provided in hourly resolution. Where original data is available in higher resolution (half-hourly or quarter-hourly), it is provided in separate files. This package version only contains data provided by TSOs and power exchanges via ENTSO-E Transparency, covering the period 2015-mid 2020.

Abstract of associated article: In this paper we investigate the efficiency of a support vector machine (SVM)-based forecasting model for the next-day directional change of electricity prices. We first adjust the best autoregressive SVM model and then we enhance it with various related variables. The system is tested on the daily Phelix index of the German and Austrian control area of the European Energy Exchange (ΕΕΧ) wholesale electricity market. The forecast accuracy we achieved is 76.12% over a 200day period.

The dataset contains data related to financing conditions and costs of capital for onshore wind, solar PV and offshore wind within the EU. It provides data on minimum, maximum and average country and technology-specific values on costs of debt, debt service coverage ratios, loan tenors, debt size, costs of equity and WACC values. The data was collected between September 2019 and April 2020. The dataset contains values for onshore wind in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden and UK. Furthermore, it contains values for solar PV in Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Spain. Finally, it also contains values for offshore wind in Belgium, France, Germany and UK.
