    Description

This dataset contains a 30-year rolling average of annual average precipitation from the four models and two greenhouse gas (RCP) scenarios included in the four model ensemble for the years 1950-2099. The year identified is the mid-point of the 30-year average. eg. The year 2050 includes the values from 2036 to 2065.

The downscaling and selection of models for inclusion in ten and four model ensembles is described in 'https://www.energy.ca.gov/sites/default/files/2019-11/Projections_CCCA4-CEC-2018-006_ADA.pdf#page=11' rel='nofollow ugc'>Pierce et al. 2018, but summarized here. Thirty two global climate models (GCMs) were identified to meet the modeling requirements. From those, ten that closely simulate California’s climate were selected for additional analysis ('https://www.energy.ca.gov/sites/default/files/2019-11/Projections_CCCA4-CEC-2018-006_ADA.pdf#page=11' rel='nofollow ugc'>Table 1, Pierce et al. 2018) and to form a ten model ensemble. From the ten model ensemble, four models, forming a four model ensemble, were identified to provide coverage of the range of potential climate outcomes in California. The models in the four model ensemble and their general climate projection for California are:

    • HadGEM2-ES (warm/dry),
    • CanESM2 (average),
    • CNRM-CM5 (cooler/wetter),
    • and MIROC5 the model least like the others to improve coverage of the range of outcomes.

These data were downloaded from Cal-Adapt and prepared for use within CA Nature by California Natural Resource Agency and ESRI staff.

Based on our analysis of the distribution of California population by race & ethnicity, the population is predominantly White. This particular racial category constitutes the majority, accounting for 43.95% of the total residents in California. Notably, the median household income for White households is $104,027. Interestingly, despite the White population being the most populous, it is worth noting that Asian households actually reports the highest median household income, with a median income of $125,149. This reveals that, while Whites may be the most numerous in California, Asian households experience greater economic prosperity in terms of median household income.

    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset presents median household incomes for various household sizes in Indian Wells, CA, as reported by the U.S. Census Bureau. The dataset highlights the variation in median household income with the size of the family unit, offering valuable insights into economic trends and disparities within different household sizes, aiding in data analysis and decision-making.

    Key observations

    • Of the 7 household sizes (1 person to 7-or-more person households) reported by the census bureau, Indian Wells did not include 6, or 7-person households. Across the different household sizes in Indian Wells the mean income is $162,107, and the standard deviation is $92,325. The coefficient of variation (CV) is 56.95%. This high CV indicates high relative variability, suggesting that the incomes vary significantly across different sizes of households. Please note that the U.S. Census Bureau uses $250,001 as a JAM value to report incomes of $250,000 or more. In the case of Indian Wells, there were 1 household sizes where the JAM values were used. Thus, the numbers for the mean and standard deviation may not be entirely accurate and have a higher possibility of errors. However, to obtain an approximate estimate, we have used a value of $250,001 as the income for calculations, as reported in the datasets by the U.S. Census Bureau.
    • In the most recent year, 2021, The smallest household size for which the bureau reported a median household income was 1-person households, with an income of $35,828. It then further increased to $120,743 for 5-person households, the largest household size for which the bureau reported a median household income.
