By comparison, people with a bachelor's degree in Denmark had an average monthly salary of 47,700 Danish kroner in 2022.

People who held a doctorate (PhD) degree earned the highest average monthly salary in Denmark, reaching 67,000 Danish kroner in 2022. People with a master degree had the second highest earning education level in 2022 with almost 61,000 Danish kroner. Meanwhile, people with a primary education had the lowest average earnings in Denmark with around 34,000 Danish kroner per month.

Employees in the financial and insurance industry received the highest average salary in Denmark in 2022. The average monthly salary in that industry amounted 65,000 Danish kroner that year. Employees in the information and communication industries earned on average 56,000 kroner per month, which was the second highest in Denmark. The lowest average salary was in the trade and transport industry, where it was around 41,500 Danish kroner per month.

Chief executives, senior officials, and legislators, is the occupational group in Denmark with the highest average monthly salaries. In 2022, people with this occupation earned 111,500 Danish kroner per month on average. Administrative and commercial managers, who had the second highest average salary, earned around 35,000 kroner less than the former group. Production and specialized services managers followed in third. By comparison, the average monthly earnings in the country was 45,000 Danish kroner in 2021.

Key observations: Insights from 2021

Based on our analysis ACS 2017-2021 5-Year Estimates, we present the following observations: - All workers, aged 15 years and older: In Copenhagen, the median income for all workers aged 15 years and older, regardless of work hours, was $47,601 for males and $26,927 for females.

These income figures highlight a substantial gender-based income gap in Copenhagen. Women, regardless of work hours, earn 57 cents for each dollar earned by men. This significant gender pay gap, approximately 43%, underscores concerning gender-based income inequality in the village of Copenhagen.

- Full-time workers, aged 15 years and older: In Copenhagen, among full-time, year-round workers aged 15 years and older, males earned a median income of $57,271, while females earned $41,525, leading to a 27% gender pay gap among full-time workers. This illustrates that women earn 73 cents for each dollar earned by men in full-time roles. This analysis indicates a widening gender pay gap, showing a substantial income disparity where women, despite working full-time, face a more significant wage discrepancy compared to men in the same roles.

Surprisingly, the gender pay gap percentage was higher across all roles, including non-full-time employment, for women compared to men. This suggests that full-time employment offers a more equitable income scenario for women compared to other employment patterns in Copenhagen.

When available, the data consists of estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2017-2021 5-Year Estimates. All incomes have been adjusting for inflation and are presented in 2022-inflation-adjusted dollars.

• Full-time, year-round: A full-time, year-round worker is a person who worked full time (35 or more hours per week) and 50 or more weeks during the previous calendar year.
• Part-time: A part-time worker is a person who worked less than 35 hours per week during the previous calendar year.
