    Description

The dataset contains cloud network performance data related to the Amazon S3 storage service. The dataset refers to experimental campaigns conducted in May 2016. The dataset was collected leveraging 77 Bismark VPs, instructed as detailed in the following. Each VP performed repeated download cycles over 7 days. Each cycle is composed of 40 sequential download requests spaced out by 10 seconds and uniquely identified by a combination of factors, i.e. cloud region, file size, and storage class. Downloads within cycles are randomly scheduled and repeated from each VP every 2 hours. After every download, VPs run TCP-traceroute towards the IP address that served the request in order to trace the information related to the path and estimate the RTT to the S3 cloud datacenter (note that this information is not always available, due to the version of the firmware of the Bismark nodes and to the measurement tools available on them).

    Description

NEW GOES-19 Data!! On April 4, 2025 at 1500 UTC, the GOES-19 satellite will be declared the Operational GOES-East satellite. All products and services, including NODD, for GOES-East will transition to GOES-19 data at that time. GOES-19 will operate out of the GOES-East location of 75.2°W starting on April 1, 2025 and through the operational transition. Until the transition time and during the final stretch of Post Launch Product Testing (PLPT), GOES-19 products are considered non-operational regardless of their validation maturity level. Shortly following the transition of GOES-19 to GOES-East, all data distribution from GOES-16 will be turned off. GOES-16 will drift to the storage location at 104.7°W. GOES-19 data should begin flowing again on April 4th once this maneuver is complete.

NEW GOES 16 Reprocess Data!! The reprocessed GOES-16 ABI L1b data mitigates systematic data issues (including data gaps and image artifacts) seen in the Operational products, and improves the stability of both the radiometric and geometric calibration over the course of the entire mission life. These data were produced by recomputing the L1b radiance products from input raw L0 data using improved calibration algorithms and look-up tables, derived from data analysis of the NIST-traceable, on-board sources. In addition, the reprocessed data products contain enhancements to the L1b file format, including limb pixels and pixel timestamps, while maintaining compatibility with the operational products. The datasets currently available span the operational life of GOES-16 ABI, from early 2018 through the end of 2024. The Reprocessed L1b dataset shows improvement over the Operational L1b products but may still contain data gaps or discrepancies. Please provide feedback to Dan Lindsey (dan.lindsey@noaa.gov) and Gary Lin (guoqing.lin-1@nasa.gov). More information can be found in the GOES-R ABI Reprocess User Guide.

NOTICE: As of January 10th 2023, GOES-18 assumed the GOES-West position and all data files are deemed both operational and provisional, so no ‘preliminary, non-operational’ caveat is needed. GOES-17 is now offline, shifted approximately 105 degree West, where it will be in on-orbit storage. GOES-17 data will no longer flow into the GOES-17 bucket. Operational GOES-West products can be found in the GOES-18 bucket.

GOES satellites (GOES-16, GOES-17, GOES-18 & GOES-19) provide continuous weather imagery and monitoring of meteorological and space environment data across North America. GOES satellites provide the kind of continuous monitoring necessary for intensive data analysis. They hover continuously over one position on the surface. The satellites orbit high enough to allow for a full-disc view of the Earth. Because they stay above a fixed spot on the surface, they provide a constant vigil for the atmospheric "triggers" for severe weather conditions such as tornadoes, flash floods, hailstorms, and hurricanes. When these conditions develop, the GOES satellites are able to monitor storm development and track their movements. SUVI products available in both NetCDF and FITS.

    Description

This dataset contains modeled hourly streamflow at each about eighteen thousand selected operational and water quality stream gage locations. It was assembled from publicly available retrospective and operational V1.2 National Water Model outputs. The streamflow variable was extracted from model output files and the data were reshaped to optimize read performance. The stream gage locations were derived from several ongoing USGS projects using gages for evaluation of streamflow, water quality, and real-time monitoring however only National Water Model identifiers and NHDPlus catchment outlet locations are used to identify model results. Relationships between NWIS gages and National Water Model prediction locations were not reviewed for release at the time of publication of this data. Please contact the author for up to date information. All processing resources used for data reformatting and extraction can be found in this repository: https://code.usgs.gov/water/nwm_subset. This supporting code also contains Docker images that are capable of processing real-time National Water Model outputs into similar formats as are in this dataset and providing data services via the THREDDS Data Server. The retrospective is available in one NetCDF file. The operational model run archives are available in .tar.gz archives that contain daily Forecast Model Run Collection files. These data conform as much as possible to the NetCDF-CF Discrete Sampling Geometry conventions and are designed to be aggregated along the reference-time dimension allowing creation of a complete collection of forecast model runs with the THREDDS data server. The retrospective data are available from public cloud data outlets (Such as: https://registry.opendata.aws/nwm-archive/) and the operational outputs were retrieved from an archive maintained at the NOAA National Water Center in Tuscaloosa, AL. Note that some data were missing from this archive, on 5-8-2018 for all operational outputs and 7-17-2017 for long range outputs. The operational model runs include analysis and assimilation, short range, medium range, and an ensemble of four long range model runs. More information on these data are available from the National Water Model v1.2 release notes here. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/os/notification/scn18-16national_water_model.htm. The contents of that html page have been archived with this dataset. The retrospective model run is available from: https://docs.opendata.aws/noaa-nwm-pds/readme.html. The precise data included here should match that exactly but was sourced from NOAA-OWP systems at the National Water Center prior to availability of data from Amazon Public Datasets.
