    Description

Finding Schools is now easier than ever with the College Map, the first geographic search tool published by IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) providing access to over 7,000 certificate, undergraduate and graduate-level schools. This all-in-one tool enables students, parents and counselors to filter potential programs for location, major, tuition and more. Including both certificate-level programs and advanced degrees, this public application makes the often overwhelming process of school searching simple, and it’s available on mobile devices.Once the results are narrowed down, users can share their lists on social media or download in excel format. Additionally, the College Map integrates with the College Navigator, a research based search tool providing data from the complete list of IPEDS Survey indicators. All information contained in this file is in the public domain. Data users are advised to review NCES program documentation and feature class metadata to understand the limitations and appropriate use of these data.

    Description

The data release for the geologic map of the Challis 1 x 2 degrees quadrangle, Idaho, is a Geologic Map Schema (GeMS)-compliant version that updates the GIS files for the geologic map published in U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Miscellaneous Investigations I-1819 (Fisher and others, 1992). The updated digital data present the attribute tables and geospatial features (points, lines and polygons) in the format that meets GeMS requirements. This data release presents the geologic map as shown on the plates and captured in geospatial data for the published map. Minor errors, such as mistakes in line decoration or differences between the digital data and the map image, are corrected in this version. The database represents the geology for the 4.4 million acre, geologically complex Challis 1 x 2 degrees quadrangle, at a publication scale of 1:250,000. The map covers primarily Boise, Custer, Lemhi and Valley Counties, but also includes minor parts of Elmore County. These GIS data supersede those in the interpretive report: Fisher, F.S., McIntyre, D.H., and Johnson, K.M., 1992, Geologic map of the Challis 1 degree x 2 degrees quadrangle, Idaho: U.S. Geological Survey, Miscellaneous Investigations Series Map I-1819, scale 1:250,000, https://pubs.usgs.gov/imap/i-1819/

    Description

This is a collection of all GPS- and computer-generated geospatial data specific to the Alpine Treeline Warming Experiment (ATWE), located on Niwot Ridge, Colorado, USA. The experiment ran between 2008 and 2016, and consisted of three sites spread across an elevation gradient. Geospatial data for all three experimental sites and cone/seed collection locations are included in this package. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Geospatial files include cone collection, experimental site, seed trap, and other GPS location/terrain data. File types include ESRI shapefiles, ESRI grid files or Arc/Info binary grids, TIFFs (.tif), and keyhole markup language (.kml) files. Trimble-imported data include plain text files (.txt), Trimble COR (CorelDRAW) files, and Trimble SSF (Standard Storage Format) files. Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) and comma-separated values (.csv) files corresponding to the attribute tables of many files within this package are also included. A complete list of files can be found in this document in the “Data File Organization” section in the included Data User's Guide. Maps are also included in this data package for reference and use. These maps are separated into two categories, 2021 maps and legacy maps, which were made in 2010. Each 2021 map has one copy in portable network graphics (.png) format, and the other in .pdf format. All legacy maps are in .pdf format. .png image files can be opened with any compatible programs, such as Preview (Mac OS) and Photos (Windows). All GIS files were imported into geopackages (.gpkg) using QGIS, and double-checked for compatibility and data/attribute integrity using ESRI ArcGIS Pro. Note that files packaged within geopackages will open in ArcGIS Pro with “main.” preceding each file name, and an extra column named “geom” defining geometry type in the attribute table. The contents of each geospatial file remain intact, unless otherwise stated in “niwot_geospatial_data_list_07012021.pdf/.xlsx”. This list of files can be found as an .xlsx and a .pdf in this archive. As an open-source file format, files within gpkgs (TIFF, shapefiles, ESRI grid or “Arc/Info Binary”) can be read using both QGIS and ArcGIS Pro, and any other geospatial softwares. Text and .csv files can be read using TextEdit/Notepad/any simple text-editing software; .csv’s can also be opened using Microsoft Excel and R. .kml files can be opened using Google Maps or Google Earth, and Trimble files are most compatible with Trimble’s GPS Pathfinder Office software. .xlsx files can be opened using Microsoft Excel. PDFs can be opened using Adobe Acrobat Reader, and any other compatible programs. A selection of original shapefiles within this archive were generated using ArcMap with associated FGDC-standardized metadata (xml file format). We are including these original files because they contain metadata only accessible using ESRI programs at this time, and so that the relationship between shapefiles and xml files is maintained. Individual xml files can be opened (without a GIS-specific program) using TextEdit or Notepad. Since ESRI’s compatibility with FGDC metadata has changed since the generation of these files, many shapefiles will require upgrading to be compatible with ESRI’s latest versions of geospatial software. These details are also noted in the “niwot_geospatial_data_list_07012021” file.

Digital ecosystem information portraying the location and boundaries of the ecosystems. The Service originally chose the U.S. Geological Survey's Hydrologic Unit Map as the foundation for delineating ecosystem unit boundaries on a national scale. Since that time, boundaries in some of the regions have been moved to the closest county boundaries to simplify management responsibilities. The current unit boundaries reflect this combination.Data Set Contact: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Natural Resource Program Center, GIS Team Lead, richard_easterbrook@fws.gov

    Description

This dataset includes materials for an undergraduate learning activity focused on exploring the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) through applied data analysis and mapping from Coastal Carolina University - Department of Nursing and Health Sciences. The download contains two files:a written assignment with step-by-step instructions, andan Excel file containing county-level health and SDOH data for South Carolina. The data were compiled from three sources (CDC PLACES, US Census Bureau's American Community Survey, Feeding America's Map the Meal Gap)Students use these materials to create maps, correlation matrices, and scatterplots in Microsoft Excel, enabling them to examine relationships between health outcomes and social factors such as poverty, education, and food access.

    Description

This is the complete X-ray source catalog of the ASCA Medium Sensitivity Survey, AMSS, or the Gas Imaging Spectrometer (GIS) catalog project. It has been constructed from data for fields covering Galactic latitudes |b| > 10 degrees which were obtained with the GIS instrument onboard the ASCA satellite between 1993 May and 1996 December (part I) and between 1997 January and 2000 May (part II). Part I of this catalog (AMSS-I) utilizes 368 combined fields, and contains 1343 sources (including target sources) with detection significance above 5 sigma in at least one of the 3 survey bands of 0.7-7.0, 2-10, or 0.7-2.0 keV, while AMSS-II uses 306 fields, and contains a total of 1190 sources, using the same criteria. The AMSS-I and AMSS-II catalogs together contain 2533 sources from an area of 278 square degrees and provide a unique database of X-ray sources in the flux range of 10-13 to 10-11 erg cm-2 s-1 (0.7-10 keV). The published paper contains a summary of the statistical properties of a complete X-ray sample consisting of 1969 serendipitous sources selected from AMSS-I and AMSS-II. For each source, the ASCA source name, position, 90% error radius, count rates (both observed and as corrected for Galactic absorption) in the 3 energy bands, detection signifances and fluxes in the 3 energy bands, and hardness ratio and associated error are provided. This version of the Browse ASCAGIS table containing the combined AMSS-I and AMSS-II source lists was created by the HEASARC in February 2006 based on the CDS version of the AMSS-I source list (CDS catalog J/ApJS/133/1) and the electronic ApJS version of the AMSS-II source list. This is a service provided by NASA HEASARC .
