The 2014 Town and Community Profiles bring together information on more than 1000 Victorian communities from a wide variety of sources, both internal and external to the Department of Health and Department of Human Services. The Profiles include information on population, geography, services and facilities, and social, cultural and demographic characteristics of each suburb, town and rural catchment in Victoria.

The Wakefield one mile military sheet, defined by latitudes south 34°00and 34°15 and by longitudes 138°00and 138°30 is at the head of Gulf St Vincent. It is 50 miles north of Adelaide and comprises part of Counties Daly, Stanley and Gawler. The principal townships are Balaklava (population 1525) and Port Wakefield (population 515). The Adelaide to Pirie railway line runs through the centre of the area and intersects the Hamley Bridge to Moonta line at Bowmans. The main water course is the Wakefield river, all others being short and ephemeral. The Wakefield sheet is a contribution to the Geological Atlas 1-mile Series of South Australia. Mapping was carried out by R.C. Horwiz, using vertical aerial photographs at a scale of 40 chains to the inch. Geological boundaries of the basement were plotted by direct observation in the field. The Quaternary of the plains and the Tertiary land surface was mapped from morphological data observed under the stereoscope after preliminary recognition of the units by field observations. Field work was commenced in April 1955 and carried on, at intervals, until May 1957. Palaeontological age determinations on specimens of Cainozoic age were carried out by N.H. Ludbrook, Palaeontologist, Geological Survey. Notes on the Hydrology of the sheet have been prepared by C. Bleys of the Hydrology Section, Department of Mines. A contribution on the Inkerman to Balaklava and Clinton coal basins was prepared by W. Johnson, Senior Geologist, Uranium and Fuel Section, Department of Mines. For publication the sheet has been drawn by W. Mitchell of the Map Preparation Section, Department of Mines, using the Wakefield one mile sheet of the Department of Lands as a base. Priority for systematic geological mapping was given to this region because of the known Cambrian limestone on the edge of Yorke Peninsula and its possible importance in oil search, and also because of interest in Tertiary lignite beds, obscured by Recent deposits, in the vicinity of Clinton, Port Wakefield and Balaklava.

The means represent predicted values from MET (Na+, Cl−, K+) and single environment (Ca2+ and Mg2+) analysis of each trait. Broad-sense heritability is also given for individual traits at each environment.
