    Description

The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Face refers to the areal (polygon) topological primitives that make up MTDB. A face is bounded by one or more edges; its boundary includes only the edges that separate it from other faces, not any interior edges contained within the area of the face. The Topological Faces Shapefile contains the attributes of each topological primitive face. Each face has a unique topological face identifier (TFID) value. Each face in the shapefile includes the key geographic area codes for all geographic areas for which the Census Bureau tabulates data for both the 2020 Census and the annual estimates and surveys. The geometries of each of these geographic areas can then be built by dissolving the face geometries on the appropriate key geographic area codes in the Topological Faces Shapefile.

    Description

Baltimore City boundary limits. This is the "official" city boundary used by many Baltimore agencies. It DOES NOT agree with the universal MSA boundaries dervied from GDT census data. This is part of a collection of 221 Baltimore Ecosystem Study metadata records that point to a geodatabase. The geodatabase is available online and is considerably large. Upon request, and under certain arrangements, it can be shipped on media, such as a usb hard drive. The geodatabase is roughly 51.4 Gb in size, consisting of 4,914 files in 160 folders. Although this metadata record and the others like it are not rich with attributes, it is nonetheless made available because the data that it represents could be indeed useful.

This is the 2020 vintage of the 2020 TIGER/Line county boundary. It includes Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Carroll County, Harford County, Howard County, and Queen Anne's County. Note this boundary is a new vintage of the TIGER file but is otherwise identical the the Census 2010 county boundary.Date: 1/21/2021 Update: Update: Irregular. While Census boundaries are updated every 10 years, the Census Bureau makes annual corrections to the geographies as needed. These updates are usually minor and BMC reviews them every few years.Source: Census TIGER/Line. The MTDB represents a seamless national filewith no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independentdata set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. The Address Range / Feature Name Relationship File (ADDRFN.dbf) contains a record for each address range / linear feature name relationship. The purpose of this relationship file is to identify all street names associated with each address range. An edge can have several feature names; an address range located on an edge can be associated with one or any combination of the available feature names (an address range can be linked to multiple feature names). The address range is identified by the address range identifier (ARID) attribute that can be used to link to the Address Ranges Relationship File (ADDR.dbf). The linear feature name is identified by the linear feature identifier (LINEARID) attribute that can be used to link to the Feature Names Relationship File (FEATNAMES.dbf).

    Description

Baltimore County's Urban Rural Demarcation Line (URDL) has divided the county into "urban" and "rural" areas since established by the Planning Board in 1967. Developed primarily as a growth management tool, it has influenced zoning, land-use, and infrustructure decisions, and was the baseline for the Baltimore County part of Maryland's Priority Funding Area. However, this boundary (digitized at a scale of 1:24,000 where 1" represents 2,000') was became obsolete as the county's GIS data increased in resolution (to 1:2,400 where 1" represents 200'). Until recently, determining a property's status as either urban or rural was of a highly interpretative nature. A new URDL was developed to more accurately match the 1:2,400 data (parcel, street centerline, zoning, etc). This version was reviewed and modified in a series of meetings with several interested county agencies. The new URDL removes much of the old one's ambiguity while keeping its original intent. The new URDL was reviewed, modified, and subsequently approved by the Planning Board on June 19, 2003. Minor revisions were effected 9/2/04, 10/21/04, 9/4/07, 5/21/09, 10/1/09 and 11/15/12. The URDL_poly feature class is one part of the URDL feature dataset.

This resource is a member of a series. The All Roads Shapefile includes all features within the MTDB Super Class "Road/Path Features" distinguished where the MAF/TIGER Feature Classification Code (MTFCC) for the feature in MTDB that begins with "S". This includes all primary, secondary, local neighborhood, and rural roads, city streets, vehicular trails (4wd), ramps, service drives, alleys, parking lot roads, private roads for service vehicles (logging, oil fields, ranches, etc.), bike paths or trails, bridle/horse paths, walkways/pedestrian trails, and stairways.

    Description

Color Infrared Digital Orthophoto Quarter Quadrangles (CIR-DOQQs) for Baltimore City and Baltimore County. The originals were produced at one-meter resolution to meet the National Map Accuracy Standard (NMAS) at 1:12,000 scale. The originals were resampled to a four-meter resolution. This metadata descirbes this resampled four-meter resolution files. The originals file-sizes are in the range of 28 megabytes to 50 megabytes. This resampling reduces the file-size to facilitate easier downloads via the World Wide Web. The resampling also has the added advantage of reorienting the pixels to remove the rotational factor that was inherent in the original files. Orthophotos combine the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. The original CIR-DOQQs mapped a 1-meter ground resolution of a DOQQ (a 3.75-minutes of latitude by 3.75-minutes of longitude extent) plus the overedge ranging from about 50 meters to 300 meters. The overedge is included to facilitate tonal matching for mosaicking The normal orientation of data is by lines (rows) and samples (columns). Each line contains a series of pixels ordered from west to east with the order of lines fom north to south. The DOQQs are an 8-bit composite raster with radiometric image brightness values stored as 256 levels, from 0 to 255.
