    Description

Land use code definitions are used to determine the differential rating categorisation for properties across Brisbane City Council.

The land use code indicates the predominant use for which the property is utilised or adapted to be utilised by virtue of its structure, fixtures and fittings or particular improvements and is an indicator of the property's specific rating criteria.

The land use code is part of the Council's property record held in the core land database and indicates the predominant use for which the property is utilised or adapted to be utilised by virtue of its structure, fixtures and fittings or particular improvements and is an indicator of the property's specific rating criteria.

The primary land use code identifies the predominant use for which the property is utilised and is an indicator of the property’s specific rating category, while the secondary land use code applied where a lesser use is also engaged on the property.

The specific rating criteria are used to identify into which Differential Rating Category a property will be placed in accordance with the annual Resolution of Rates and Charges.

In determining the predominant use, consideration will be given but not limited to the Visual, Spatial and Economic aspects of the land. Area is not the principal basis for determining the predominant use. The predominant use may be determined and applied during the construction phase of a structure and will be identified by its ultimate land use code followed by a secondary land use code of 01.

Rating category definitions are used to determine the rating of properties across Brisbane City Council.

Rating category definitions are contained in the Resolution of Rates and Charges which is the formal resolution that sets out the various rates levied by Council and any associated charges.

Resolution of rates and charges tables are used in identifying the rating categories and charges for rateable properties across Brisbane City Council for the financial year.

Information in this dataset relating to land use code definitions or relating to rating category definitions must be read in conjunction with the Resolution of Rates and Charges section of the Annual Plan and Budget 2023-24. Annual Plan and Budget documents are available on the Brisbane City Council website.

    Description

This dataset is available on Brisbane City Council’s open data website – data.brisbane.qld.gov.au. The site provides additional features for viewing and interacting with the data and for downloading the data in various formats.

This dataset, created in June 2013, provides an indication of the likelihood of a flood occurring from overland flow inside the Brisbane City Council local government area. This layer contributes to the overall Flood Awareness Mapping for Brisbane City Council.

Overland flow is excess rainfall that runs across the land after rain before it enters an underground drainage system or a creek/waterway. Overland flow can also rise to the surface naturally from underground or also as a result of creek/waterway bank failure. Overland flow flooding tends to affect localised areas rather than the whole city at once. Overland flow can probably be considered the most frequent type of flooding in Brisbane.

Overland flow tends to occur during high rainfall events. It travels across the land following low-lying, natural drainage paths. Such flooding may occur when underground drainage system exceeds capacity. Overland flow flooding can be unpredictable and occur without warning.

You can identify overland flow by looking at how water may flow across the land around your property. Consider these natural flows when you are looking to renovate, build a fence or put in a shed.

There are three different overland flow flooding impact areas in Flood Awareness Map, namely High, Medium and Low.

The overland flow High impact layer consists of H5 and H6* hazard zones during a 5% Annual Exceedance Probability (AEP) (20 year Average Recurrence Interval (ARI)) flood event. The flood data was sourced from the Citywide Creek and Overland Flow Path mapping study (GHD, 2017).

The overland flow Medium impact layer consists of H3, H4, H5 and H6* hazard zones during a 2% AEP (50 year ARI) flood event (outside high impact area). The flood data was sourced from the Citywide Creek and Overland Flow Path mapping study (GHD, 2017).

The overland flow Low impact layer consists of H2, H3, H4, H5 and H6* hazard zones during a 1% AEP (100 year ARI) flood event (outside high and medium impact areas). The flood data was sourced from the Citywide Creek and Overland Flow Path mapping study (GHD, 2017).

    * Hazard ranges from H1 to H6 and is based on the flood hazard, depth and velocity vulnerability thresholds. For more information, refer to Australian Disaster Resilience Guideline 7-3 Flood Hazard (AIDR 2017).

Due to a system issue, this data is not displayed here. To access the data, please use the ArcGIS Hub Datasets link in the Data and resources section on this page.

    Description

This dataset is a linear representation of where clearways exist along stretches of road in the Brisbane City Council local government area.Clearways improve traffic flow during peak times and improve public safety. You must not set down or pick up passengers in clearways, even when stopped at traffic lights or in traffic.Clearways are also tow away zones. Any vehicle parked in a clearway will be towed as soon as possible. Towed vehicles will also be issued with a parking fine. Some clearway areas operate only during certain times of the day. The clearway sign will show the times of operation. If there are no times on the sign, the clearway applies 24 hours a day.Additional information on parking can be found on the Brisbane City Council website. More information on clearways can be found on the page called clearway and solid yellows lines on the Brisbane City Council website.

For more information about Brisbane City Council’s budget, please visit www.brisbane.qld.gov.au or phone Council’s Contact Centre on (07) 3403 8888.
