    The Digital Geologic-GIS Map of City of Rocks National Reserve and Vicinity, Idaho is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (ciro_geology.gdb), a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage, and 3.) 2.2 KMZ/KML file for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information. The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file (ciro_geology.mapx) and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), as well as with a 2.) 10.1 ArcMap (.mxd) map document (ciro_geology.mxd) and individual 10.1 layer (.lyr) files (for each GIS data layer). The OGC geopackage is supported with a QGIS project (.qgz) file. Upon request, the GIS data is also available in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format. Contact Stephanie O'Meara (see contact information below) to acquire the GIS data in these GIS data formats.     Description

    This layer was originally created using USGS data as well as tax map data. The Boundary between Bedford County and Bedford City was changed in July, 2013 by County GIS staff, after the reversion of Bedford City to Town status. GIS Staff made these changes based on parcel data being exchanged from the County to the Town of Bedford per Reversion agreement. Bedford GIS Team is responsible for maintaining the data. This layer is expected to be maintained indefinitely.

    Description

    The Building layer is a spatial representation of all addressable structures within Bedford County, VA, as well as many non-addressable structures. These non-addressable structures include barns, boat docks, out-buildings, storage buildings, etc. This Building layer does NOT include buildings within the Town of Bedford corporate limits. The source of this data was the Virginia Base Mapping Program(VBMP) Orthophotography from 2007 . In 2009, Bedford County contracted with Sanborn Map Company, Inc. to develop planimetric data based on the 2007 photography. This photography was at 200 scale(1"=200'), with some areas at 100 scale(1"=100'). The County received final deliverables in January, 2010. The Building feature class contains all structures up to the time of the capture of the photography - March, 2007. The County has NOT updated the Building feature class with new features since the March, 2007 flight. The Building feature class is an update of a previous Building layer, which was based on 1992 B/W orthophotography at 200 and 400 scales. Since the time of this data capture, the County did not update Building footprints. GIS Staff is in the continual process of attributing building features with the name of the structure(church name, business name, etc.). This attribute information is valuable as a Landmark feature for Dispatchers in the PSAP, to show common, well-known structures and places within the County.

    Description

    The Digital Quaternary Surficial Geologic-GIS Map of Anacapa Island, California is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (anac_surficial_geology.gdb), a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage, and 3.) 2.2 KMZ/KML file for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information. The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file (anac_surficial_geology.mapx) and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), as well as with a 2.) 10.1 ArcMap (.mxd) map document (anac_surficial_geology.mxd) and individual 10.1 layer (.lyr) files (for each GIS data layer). The OGC geopackage is supported with a QGIS project (.qgz) file. Upon request, the GIS data is also available in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format. Contact Stephanie O'Meara (see contact information below) to acquire the GIS data in these GIS data formats. In addition to the GIS data and supporting GIS files, three additional files comprise a GRI digital geologic-GIS dataset or map: 1.) this file (chis_geology_gis_readme.pdf), 2.) the GRI ancillary map information document (.pdf) file (chis_geology.pdf) which contains geologic unit descriptions, as well as other ancillary map information and graphics from the source map(s) used by the GRI in the production of the GRI digital geologic-GIS data for the park, and 3.) a user-friendly FAQ PDF version of the metadata (anac_surficial_geology_metadata_faq.pdf). Please read the chis_geology_gis_readme.pdf for information pertaining to the proper extraction of the GIS data and other map files. Google Earth software is available for free at: https://www.google.com/earth/versions/. QGIS software is available for free at: https://www.qgis.org/en/site/. Users are encouraged to only use the Google Earth data for basic visualization, and to use the GIS data for any type of data analysis or investigation. The data were completed as a component of the Geologic Resources Inventory (GRI) program, a National Park Service (NPS) Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) Division funded program that is administered by the NPS Geologic Resources Division (GRD). Users of this data are cautioned about the locational accuracy of features within this dataset. Based on the source map scale of 1:12,000 and United States National Map Accuracy Standards features are within (horizontally) 6.1 meters or 20 feet of their actual location as presented by this dataset. Users of this data should thus not assume the location of features is exactly where they are portrayed in Google Earth, ArcGIS, QGIS or other software used to display this dataset.     Description

    This web app is designed to display all land disturbance permits in Bedford County, VA. In this application, the permit points are red if the land disturbance is residential and blue if it is commercial. The user can view which district, subdivision, or hydrologic boundary each point is in by turning the layers on and off. Another feature of the web application is that, instead of scanning through the map looking for a specific point, the user can search for the point by its LD Number or its RPC Number.

    Description

    This map provides information on speed limits that are posted on state-maintained roadways in Virginia. Cities and towns set their own speed limits and these are not available to show on the map. Zoom in on the map to display the speed limits. Speed limits exist for all roads however; where this information is not available for mapping, they are not displayed. Most roads where speed limits are not shown are either rural, secondary roads (routes numbered 600 or greater) where a statutory 55 mph speed limit typically applies, or subdivision streets where a statutory 25 mph speed limit usually applies. These statutory speed limits are often are not posted on these roads. Click on any roadway to display the speed limit information.

    This dataset provides detailed soil mapping and associated attributes for Bedford County, Virginia, developed through the USDA's Soil Survey Geographic (SSURGO) database program. It includes georeferenced vector data and tabular attributes sourced from the National Soil Information System (NASIS). The mapping was conducted at a scale of 1:24,000 and offers information on soil composition, properties, and suitability for land use, engineering, agriculture, conservation, and recreation.This data is shared publically on the open data hub for Bedford County, VA. Bedford County GIS is responsible for maintaining the data in the layer and to review it every 3 years. This layer is expected to be maintained indefinitely.     This map shows the 2019 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for agriculture, forestry, fishing, and hunting. This uses the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) 11. Examples include crop production; animal production and aquaculture; forestry and logging; fishing, hunting and trapping; and support activities for agriculture and forestry.The size of each symbol shows the GDP for agriculture, forestry, fishing, and hunting. The color represents the percent of a larger geography. For example, counties show the percent of state GDP from agriculture, forestry, fishing, and hunting. States show a percent of region, and Regions show a percent of the national GDP for this NAICS code. This allows us to see which areas contribute to the bigger picture of GDP. You can optionally turn on a layer showing USDA Census of Agriculture figures for Federal spending toward agriculture. This allows us to compare where government money is going in comparison to GDP figures. GDP is the value of goods and services produced within a county. The underlying Living Atlas layer contains 2019 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) estimates from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) for the nation, regions, states, and counties. Breakdowns by industry available, using North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) groups.
