World Imagery provides one meter or better satellite and aerial imagery for most of the world’s landmass and lower resolution satellite imagery worldwide. The goal of the Iowa BMP (Best Management Practices) Mapping Project is to provide a complete baseline set of BMPs dating from the 2007-2010 timeframe for use in watershed modeling, historic occurrence, and future practice tracking. The BMPs mapped are: Terraces, Water and Sediment Control Basins (WASCOB), Grassed Waterways, Pond Dams, Contour Strip Cropping and Contour Buffer Strips. We can't guarantee that mapped practices meet NRCS standards or that they are actually the indicated practice since no ground reference analysis is being performed. Data being utilized to digitize the BMPs include LiDAR derived products such as DEM, Hillshade and Slope grids; CIR aerial photography from the 2007-2010 timeframe, NAIP aerial photography and historic aerial photography.
NCED is currently involved in researching the effectiveness of anaglyph maps in the classroom and are working with educators and scientists to interpret various Earth-surface processes. Based on the findings of the research, various activities and interpretive information will be developed and available for educators to use in their classrooms. Keep checking back with this website because activities and maps are always being updated. We believe that anaglyph maps are an important tool in helping students see the world and are working to further develop materials and activities to support educators in their use of the maps.

Anaglyph paper maps are a cost effective offshoot of the GeoWall Project. Geowall is a high end visualization tool developed for use in the University of Minnesota's Geology and Geophysics Department. Because of its effectiveness it has been expanded to 300 institutions across the United States. GeoWall projects 3-D images and allows students to see 3-D representations but is limited because of the technology. Paper maps are a cost effective solution that allows anaglyph technology to be used in classroom and field-based applications.
Maps are best when viewed with RED/CYAN anaglyph glasses!
A note on downloading: "viewable" maps are .jpg files; "high-quality downloads" are .tif files. While it is possible to view the latter in a web-browser in most cases, the download may be slow. As an alternative, try right-clicking on the link to the high-quality download and choosing "save" from the pop-up menu that results. Save the file to your own machine, then try opening the saved copy. This may be faster than clicking directly on the link to open it in the browser.

This is a raster-based suitability map of landfill sites produced after the February 6, 2023, Türkiye earthquakes centred on Kahramanmaraş - Pazarcık and Kahramanmaraş - Elbistan. The Ontario Imagery Web Map Service (OIWMS) is an open data service available to everyone free of charge. It provides instant online access to the most recent, highest quality, province wide imagery. GEOspatial Ontario (GEO) makes this data available as an Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant web map service or as an ArcGIS map service. Imagery was compiled from many different acquisitions which are detailed in the Ontario Imagery Web Map Service Metadata Guide linked below. Instructions on how to use the service can also be found in the Imagery User Guide linked below. Note: This map displays the Ontario Imagery Web Map Service Source, a companion ArcGIS web map service to the Ontario Imagery Web Map Service. It provides an overlay that can be used to identify acquisition relevant information such as sensor source and acquisition date. OIWMS contains several hierarchical layers of imagery, with coarser less detailed imagery that draws at broad scales, such as a province wide zooms, and finer more detailed imagery that draws when zoomed in, such as city-wide zooms. Background HealthCyberMap aims at mapping parts of health information cyberspace in novel ways to deliver a semantically superior user experience. This is achieved through "intelligent" categorisation and interactive hypermedia visualisation of health resources using metadata, clinical codes and GIS. HealthCyberMap is an ArcView 3.1 project. WebView, the Internet extension to ArcView, publishes HealthCyberMap ArcView Views as Web client-side imagemaps. The basic WebView set-up does not support any GIS database connection, and published Web maps become disconnected from the original project. A dedicated Internet map server would be the best way to serve HealthCyberMap database-driven interactive Web maps, but is an expensive and complex solution to acquire, run and maintain. This paper describes HealthCyberMap simple, low-cost method for "patching" WebView to serve hypermaps with dynamic database drill-down functionality on the Web.
Results
The proposed solution is currently used for publishing HealthCyberMap GIS-generated navigational information maps on the Web while maintaining their links with the underlying resource metadata base.
Conclusion
The authors believe their map serving approach as adopted in HealthCyberMap has been very successful, especially in cases when only map attribute data change without a corresponding effect on map appearance. It should be also possible to use the same solution to publish other interactive GIS-driven maps on the Web, e.g., maps of real world health problems.

CHANJ offers tools and resources to guide these goals forward in a strategic way. The tools also help land-use, conservation, and transportation planners to be more proactive and collaborative, which reduces conflict and saves time and money. The success of CHANJ in fact depends on partnerships like these to implement its guidance The CHANJ project represents a strategic plan for wildlife conservation that delineates and provides a common vision for a connected statewide landscape that, if protected and appropriately managed, will restore and maintain gene flow between viable breeding populations of terrestrial, native wildlife species, helping to ensure their long-term viability in New Jersey. CHANJ not only delineates a connected landscape, but the CHANJ mapping also links to a Guidance Document that provides recommendations and resources for the actions needed to preserve and restore habitat connectivity for terrestrial wildlife in New Jersey. This initiative is designed to help 1) prioritize land protection, 2) inform habitat restoration and management, and 3) guide mitigation of barrier impacts on wildlife and habitats. We formed a multi-partner, multi-disciplinary working group to inform the development of this project that will help target local, regional, and state planning efforts and ultimately reconnect the landscape in New Jersey. The CHANJ products are intended to allow land-use, conservation, and transportation planners to operate in a more collaborative way, leveraging New Jersey’s open space investment, increasing road safety, increasing permit efficiency, and ultimately improving the prospects for the long-term sustainability of New Jersey’s terrestrial wildlife. These Soil Mapping Data Packages include 1. a Soil Map dataset which includes the equivalents to Soil Project Boundaries, Soil Survey Spatial View mapping polygons with attributes from the Soil Name and Layer Files, plus + A Soil Site dataset which includes soil pit site information and detailed soil pit descriptions and any associated lab analyses, and + The Soil Data Dictionary which documents the fields and allowable codes within the data. The Soil Map geodatabase contains the 'best available' data ranging from 1:20,000 scale to 1:250,000 scale with overlapping data removed. The choice of the datasets that remain is based on connectivity to the soil attributes (soil name and layer files), map scale and survey date. (Note: the BC Soil Landscapes of Canada (BCSLC) 1:1,000,000 data has not been included in the Soil_Map or SIFT, but is available from: CANSIS. The National Mine Map Repository (NMMR) maintains point locations for mines appearing on maps within its archive. This dataset is intended to help connect the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, other federal, state, and local government agencies, private industry, and the general public with archived mine maps in the NMMR's collection. The coordinates for mine point locations represent the best information the NMMR has for the location of the mine. As much as possible, the NMMR strives to find precise locations for all historic mines appearing on mine maps. When this is not possible, another feature as close to the mine as is known is used. This information is reflected in the mine point symbols. However, the NMMR cannot guarantee the accuracy of mine point locations or any other information on or derived from mine maps. The NMMR is part of the United States Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE). The mission of the NMMR is to preserve abandoned mine maps, to correlate those maps to the surface topography, and to provide the public with quality map products and services. It serves as a point of reference for maps and other information on surface and underground coal, metal, and non-metal mines from throughout the United States. It also serves as a location to retrieve mine maps in an emergency. Some of the information that can be found in the repository includes: Mine and company names, Mine plans including mains, rooms, and pillars, Man-ways, shafts, and mine surface openings. Geological information such as coal bed names, bed thicknesses, bed depths and elevations, bed outcrops, drill-hole data, cross-sections, stratigraphic columns, and mineral assays. Geographical information including historic railroad lines, roads, coal towns, surface facilities and structures, ponds, streams, and property survey lines, gas well and drill-hole locations. Please note: Map images are not available for download from this dataset. They can be requested by contacting NMMR staff and providing them with the desired Document Numbers. NMMR staff also have additional search capabilities and can fulfill more complex requests if necessary. Culminating more than four years of processing data, NASA and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) have completed Earth's most extensive global topographic map. The mission is a collaboration among NASA, NGA, and the German and Italian space agencies. For 11 days in February 2000, the space shuttle Endeavour conducted the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) using C-Band and X-Band interferometric synthetic aperture radars to acquire topographic data over 80% of the Earth's land mass, creating the first-ever near-global data set of land elevations. This data was used to produce topographic maps (digital elevation maps) 30 times as precise as the best global maps used today. The SRTM system gathered data at the rate of 40,000 per minute over land. They reveal for the first time large, detailed swaths of Earth's topography previously obscured by persistent cloudiness. The data will benefit scientists, engineers, government agencies and the public with an ever-growing array of uses. The SRTM radar system mapped Earth from 56 degrees south to 60 degrees north of the equator. The resolution of the publicly available data is three arc-seconds (1/1,200th of a degree of latitude and longitude, about 295 feet, at Earth's equator). The final data release covers Australia and New Zealand in unprecedented uniform detail. It also covers more than 1,000 islands comprising much of Polynesia and Melanesia in the South Pacific, as well as islands in the South Indian and Atlantic oceans. SRTM data are being used for applications ranging from land use planning to "virtual" Earth exploration. Currently, the mission's homepage "http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm" provides direct access to recently obtained earth images. The Shuttle Radar Topography Mission C-band data for North America and South America are available to the public. The SRTM radar contained two types of antenna panels, C-band and X-band. The near-global topographic maps of Earth called Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) are made from the C-band radar data. These data were processed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and are being distributed through the United States Geological Survey's EROS Data Center. Data from the X-band radar are used to create slightly higher resolution DEMs but without the global coverage of the C-band radar. The SRTM X-band radar data are being processed and distributed by the German Aerospace Center, DLR.
The Digital Geomorphic-GIS Map of Gulf Islands National Seashore (5-meter accuracy and 1-foot resolution 2006-2007 mapping), Mississippi and Florida is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (guis_geomorphology.gdb), a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage, and 3.) 2.2 KMZ/KML file for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information. The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file (guis_geomorphology.mapx) and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), as well as with a 2.) 10.1 ArcMap (.mxd) map document (guis_geomorphology.mxd) and individual 10.1 layer (.lyr) files (for each GIS data layer). The OGC geopackage is supported with a QGIS project (.qgz) file. Upon request, the GIS data is also available in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format. The Protected Open Space layer includes the parcel shape (geometry), a project-specific parcel ID based on the Town and Town Assessor's lot numbering system, and system-defined (automatically generated) fields. The Protected Open Space layer has an accompanying table containing more detailed information about each feature (parcel). This table is called Protected Open Space Dat, and can be joined to Protected Open Space in ArcMap using the parcel ID (PAR_ID) field. Detailed information in the Protected Open Space Data attribute table includes the Assessor's Map, Block and Lot numbers (the Assessor's parcel identification numbering system), the official name of the parcel (such as the park or forest name if it has one), address and owner information, the deed volume and page numbers, survey information, open space type, the unique parcel ID number (Par_ID), comments collected by researchers during city/town hall visits, and acreage. This layer does not include parcels that do not meet the definition of open space as defined above. The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection's (CTDEP) Permanently Protected Open Space Phase Mapping Project Phase 1 (Protected Open Space Phase1) layer includes permanently protected open space parcels in towns in Phase 1 that meet the CTDEP's definition for this project, the Permanently Protected Open Space Mapping (CT POSM) Project. The CTDEP defines permanently protected open space as (1) Land or interest in land acquired for the permanent protection of natural features of the state's landscape or essential habitat for endangered or threatened species; or (2) Land or an interest in land acquired to permanently support and sustain non facility-based outdoor recreations, forestry and fishery activities, or other wildlife or natural resource conservation or preservation activities.
Towns in Phase 1 of the CT POSM project are situated along the CT coast and portions of the Thames River and are the following: Branford, Bridgeport, Chester, Clinton, Darien, Deep River, East Haven, East Lyme, Essex, Fairfield, Greenwich, Groton, Guilford, Hamden, Ledyard, Lyme, Madison, Milford, Montville, New Haven, New London, North Branford, North Haven, Norwalk, Norwich, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Orange, Preston, Shelton, Stamford, Stonington, Stratford, Waterford, West Haven, Westbrook, Westport.
For the purposes of the project a number of categories or classifications of open space have also been created. These include: Land Trust, Land Trust with buidlings, Private, Private with buildings, Utility Company, Utility Company with buildings, Federal, State, Municipal, Municipal with buildings, Conservation easement, and non-DEP State land. The layer is based on information from various sources collected and compiled during the period from August 2002 trhough October 2003. These sources include municipal Assessor's records (the Assessor's database, hard copy maps and deeds) and existing digital parcel data. The layer represents conditions on the date of research at each city or town hall.

Phase 1 of the Protected Open Space Mapping (POSM) Project was accomplished by a contractor using only a querying process to identify open space. The contractor obtained assessor's data from the various towns and created programs to cull open space parcels strictly by query processes. We have found many errors and omissions in the data, but at this point in the project we cannot revisit all the coastal towns. Therefore, this data is being sent with a disclaimer for accuracy. You are welcome to use it but not to publish it. Please note that we do not include any water company parcels despite them being listed as part of our criteria because we must first obtain written clarification and clearance from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
We have since changed our data collection method for Phase 2 of this project. DEP staff now visit each town hall and thoroughly research the land records. The project is expected to be complete by 2010.

A fileset to accompany an article in a special issue of Internet Archaeology. In this article, I map the structure of the web to understand the context of archaeological blogging. What is the context of our archaeological blogging? When we blog, are we merely shouting into the void? Do archaeological bloggers link only to one another, and do we shout only to each other (which, it must be admitted, is what our journals and conferences do, too, albeit at slower pace)? Assume a person knows nothing about archaeology: would that person find your blog? Your project website? Your department’s website? Does academic blogging matter? One way to answer these questions is through a mapping of the archaeological web. When a layperson finds a site, she might signal its perceived value through linking, retweeting, commenting, and writing her own blog posts about it. Therefore, various network metrics of this map of the archaeological web can be taken as a kind of proxy for evaluating the impact of our blogging. Given that these blogs are all publicly available (if one knows or can find the address), blogging is a kind of public archaeology- not necessarily an archaeology done for the public, but rather an archaeology done in view of the public. It would be interesting to know if this kind of public archaeology has an impact at all. These signals and linkages in the general noise of the internet are the subject of this paper. In order for us as archaeologists to generate the strongest possible signals on the web, we need to understand the structures that have emerged within the web to best facilitate dissemination. This can help us increase our signals’ visiblity, even though all roads eventually lead to Wikipedia.

These Soil Mapping Data Packages include 1. a Soil Map dataset which includes the equivalents to Soil Project Boundaries, Soil Survey Spatial View mapping polygons with attributes from the Soil Name and Layer Files, plus + A Soil Site dataset which includes soil pit site information and detailed soil pit descriptions and any associated lab analyses, and + The Soil Data Dictionary which documents the fields and allowable codes within the data. The Soil Map geodatabase contains the 'best available' data ranging from 1:20,000 scale to 1:250,000 scale with overlapping data removed. The choice of the datasets that remain is based on connectivity to the soil attributes (soil name and layer files), map scale and survey date. (Note: the BC Soil Landscapes of Canada (BCSLC) 1:1,000,000 data has not been included in the Soil_Map or SIFT, but is available from: CANSIS. This data release includes maps characterizing soil geomorphic units (SGUs), climate zones, and ecological site groups that classify landscapes by ecological potential and behavior for use in land management in the Upper Colorado River Basin (UCRB) region. Soil geomorphic units were created by analysis and grouping of ecological sites (ESs), a more detailed local system of ecological units managed by the National Cooperative Soil Survey (NCSS). Vegetation reference community production data of ESs were analyzed to determine discrete rules based on field soils data linked to the soil survey geographic (SSURGO) database of the USA to determine SGUs. Then both reference production data and state and transition model (STM) state attribution data were used to optimize combination of potential climate zone breaks with SGUs to determine final ecological site groups (ESGs). A non-parameteric Manova framework was used for all analysis in creating SGUs and ESGs to find groupings that best discerned differences in reference production and STMs. These groups, and the associated climate zones are mapped at 30m resolution for this data release. Mapping was done using a digital soil mapping workflow that linked field soil descriptions keyed to SGU to environmental raster covariates (e.g. digital elevation model) to create a predictive mapping model. The ESGs were then created by overlaying various climate surfaces with the SGUs to reclassify pixels. The SGU predictions are provided as the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd most probable class for each pixel based on the underlying random forest model probabilities.
