The SMA implementation is comprised of one feature dataset, with several polygon feature classes, rather than a single feature class. SurfaceManagementAgency: The Surface Management Agency (SMA) Geographic Information System (GIS) dataset depicts Federal land for the United States and classifies this land by its active Federal surface managing agency. A Federal SMA agency refers to a Federal agency with administrative jurisdiction over the surface of Federal lands. Jurisdiction over the land is defined when the land is either: Withdrawn by some administrative or legislative action, or Acquired or Exchanged by a Federal Agency. The GIS data contained in this dataset represents the polygon features that show the boundaries for Surface Management Agency and the surface extent of each Federal agency's surface administrative jurisdiction. SMA data depicts current withdrawn areas for a particular agency and (when appropriate) includes land that was acquired or exchanged and is located outside of a withdrawal area for that agency. The SMA data do not illustrate land status ownership pattern boundaries or contain land ownership attribute details. This layer is also updated whenever BLM is notified that Lands have been acquired by other Federal Agencies. For additional information regarding an acquisition search the Bureau's LR2000 system: The LND_SurfaceEstate data is edited and maintained in a single polygon feature class. Whenever possible, BLM lands are constructed from the Public Land Survey System (PLSS), also available to the public (PublicLandSurvey.gdb). Alignment of BLM data with the PLSS is a continual process, as the accuracy and density of PLSS data continues to improve and develop. Issues of misalignment with the PLSS are more common with non-BLM management areas. These discrepancies are being addressed at the BLM California State office based on U.S. Department of Interior priorities throughout the State of California
This polygon feature class represents the spatial extent and boundaries for anticipated, in-progress, existing and historic BLM Land Use Planning Area (LUPA) polygons. Land Use Planning Areas are geographic areas within which the BLM will make decisions during a land use planning effort. Land Use Planning Area Boundaries shift from an "in-progress" status and become Existing Land Use Planning Areas when the Land Use Plan has been approved and a Record of Decision Date has been established. At this point, these LUPAs are officially "existing" and the previous plan is moved to a "historic" status.

These are the cadastral reference features that provide the basis and framework for parcel mapping and for other mapping. This feature data set contains PLSS and Other Survey System data. The other survey systems include subdivision plats and those types of survey reference systems. This feature data set also include feature classes to support the special conditions in Ohio. This data set represents the GIS Version of the Public Land Survey System including both rectangular and non-rectangular surveys. The primary source for the data is cadastral survey records housed by the BLM supplemented with local records and geographic control coordinates from states, counties as well as other federal agencies such as the USGS and USFS. The data has been converted from source documents to digital form and transferred into a GIS format that is compliant with FGDC Cadastral Data Content Standards and Guidelines for publication. This data is optimized for data publication and sharing rather than for specific "production" or operation and maintenance. This data set includes the following: PLSS Fully Intersected (all of the PLSS feature at the atomic or smallest polygon level), PLSS Townships, First Divisions and Second Divisions (the hierarchical break down of the PLSS Rectangular surveys) PLSS Special surveys (non rectangular components of the PLSS) Meandered Water, Corners and Conflicted Areas (known areas of gaps or overlaps between Townships or state boundaries). The Entity-Attribute section of this metadata describes these components in greater detail.
Mobile Map Packages (MMPK’s) can be used in the ESRI Field Maps app (no login required), either by direct download in the Field Maps app or by sideloading from your PC. They can also be used in desktop applications that support MMPK’s such as ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Navigator. MMPK’s will expire quarterly and have a warning for the user at that time but will still function afterwards. They are updated quarterly to ensure you have the most up to date data possible. These mobile map packages include the following national datasets along with others: Surface Management Agency, Public Land Survey System (PLSS), BLM Recreation Sites, National Conservation Lands, ESRI’s Navigation Basemap and Vector Tile Package. BLM LUPA General Public Lands
General Public Lands ("Unallocated Lands" in the Proposed LUPA). Designation on BLM-administered lands that do not have a specific land allocation or designation. These areas are available to renewable energy applications but are not subject to permit review streamlining or other incentives, and thus would be subject to site-specific plan amendment for such development. The Approved LUPA includes CMAs that apply to activities in General Public Lands.
In support of new permitting workflows associated with anticipated WellSTAR needs, the CalGEM GIS unit extended the existing BLM PLSS Township & Range grid to cover offshore areas with the 3-mile limit of California jurisdiction. The PLSS grid as currently used by CalGEM is a composite of a BLM download (the majority of the data), additions by the DPR, and polygons created by CalGEM to fill in missing areas (the Ranchos, and Offshore areas within the 3-mile limit of California jurisdiction).CalGEM is the Geologic Energy Management Division of the California Department of Conservation, formerly the Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (as of January 1, 2020).Update Frequency: As Needed
This polygon feature class represents the spatial extent and boundaries for BLM Grazing Allotments. This state dataset may have published a dataset that is more current than the National dataset; there may be geometry variations between the state and national dataset which may have different results. The national dataset is updated following the data standard schedule.
This polyline feature class represents the arc features that will define the boundaries of BLM Land Use Planning Area (LUPA) anticipated, in-progress, existing and historic polygons. Their attributes serve to store feature level metadata information for the polygon boundaries, as well as document the origin and characteristics of each arc.
This polygon feature class contains BLM California Designated Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACECs) polygons. These define areas within the public lands where special management attention is required to protect and prevent irreparable damage to important historic, cultural, or scenic values, fish and wildlife resources or other natural systems or processes, or to protect life and safety from natural hazards.

Dataset of feature classes for Conservation Lands of the California Desert within NLCS. In 1976, Congress designated a 25-million acre expanse of resource-rich desert lands in southern California as the California Desert Conservation Area (CDCA) through the Federal Land Policy and Management Act. In 2009, Congress, passed the Omnibus Public Land Management Act, which directed the BLM to include lands managed for conservation purposes within the CDCA as part of the National Conservation Lands. To protect this area's natural resources and facilitate development of its energy resources, the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan was undertaken in 2013. This collaborative, multi-stakeholder, landscape-scale planning effort comprises 22.5 million acres in the desert regions of seven California counties, 10.8 million acres of which are BLM lands. Phase I of the DRECP was completed in September 2016. It designated 4.2 million acres as part of the National Conservation Lands of the California Desert. Much of this land was already a part of the National Conservation Lands (in particular, large portions of the Mojave Trails and Sand to Snow National Monuments), but 2.89 million acres were a new addition to the system. National Conservation Lands of the California Desert are closed to all energy development.

This application is designed as an informational tool, available to the public, to help provide information and awareness on current wildland fire incidents in the state of California and Northwestern Nevada. Fire information depicted in this application may not represent actual firefighting efforts on the ground. No warranty is made by the involved federal and state agencies as to the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of these data. The BLM CA Wildfire Dashboard is designed to show real-time fire information and aggregate data. For information on complex incidents, visit the BLM California Public Saftey and Fire website and follow BLM CA on Twitter and Facebook. Due to the volume of daily wildfires, not all incidents appearing on this product will be featured on other fire information websites or on social media pages.Points indicating fire locations may vary from where fires initially originated. False alarms, abandoned campfires, and smoke reports are not represented on the map. Acres shown on individual fires may vary from official reports from incident command or public information messages. Please rely on the information received directly from the incident in that occurrence as the BLM CA Wildfire Dashboard is showcasing real-time information and aggregate data, as previously stated.
United States Federal land that falls within California classified by its active Federal surface managing agency.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has prepared this Record of Decision (ROD) approving the Land Use Plan Amendment (LUPA) for the California Desert Conservation Area (CDCA) Plan and Bishop and Bakersfield Resource Management Plans (RMPs). The BLM also explains in this ROD the identification of the California Desert National Conservation Lands as discussed in the attached LUPA. The LUPA was prepared as part of the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP). The DRECP has been developed as an interagency plan by the BLM, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) (collectively “REAT Agencies”; Renewable Energy Action Team [REAT]) to (1) advance federal and state natural resource conservation goals and other federal land management goals; (2) meet the requirements of the federal Endangered Species Act (ESA), California Endangered Species Act (CESA), Natural Community Conservation Planning Act (NCCPA), and Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA); and (3) facilitate the timely and streamlined permitting of renewable energy projects, all in the Mojave and Colorado/Sonoran desert regions of Southern California. The complete ROD can be found on ePlanning at https://eplanning.blm.gov/public_projects/lup/66459/133460/163124/DRECP_BLM_LUPA_ROD.pdf
This Land Use Plan Table contains attributes about anticipated, in-progress, existing and historical land use plans. This is the parent table of the feature set and all related polygons and reports generated from this feature set will derive their core attribute information from this table.
Types of recreation decisions include Special Recreation Management Areas (SRMA) and Extensive Recreation Management Areas (ERMA). There are also sub-designations of open, closed, or limited for the OHV areas. The name of each area along with what field office it is managed by is also in the attribute table. The Comments field contains the attributes 'High', 'Transition', and 'Remote'. Recreation opportunities for SRMAs are organized into three major categories: High use areas: opportunities for high levels of social interaction (high levels of use with people in close proximity). Transition areas: opportunities for moderate levels of social interaction (moderate levels of use with people in close to moderate proximity). Remote areas: opportunities for low levels of social interaction, with a focus on appreciation for and a sense of solitude or remoteness.
