Mobile Map Packages (MMPK’s) can be used in the ESRI Field Maps app (no login required), either by direct download in the Field Maps app or by sideloading from your PC. They can also be used in desktop applications that support MMPK’s such as ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Navigator. MMPK’s will expire quarterly and have a warning for the user at that time but will still function afterwards. They are updated quarterly to ensure you have the most up to date data possible. In support of new permitting workflows associated with anticipated WellSTAR needs, the CalGEM GIS unit extended the existing BLM PLSS Township & Range grid to cover offshore areas with the 3-mile limit of California jurisdiction. The PLSS grid as currently used by CalGEM is a composite of a BLM download (the majority of the data), additions by the DPR, and polygons created by CalGEM to fill in missing areas (the Ranchos, and Offshore areas within the 3-mile limit of California jurisdiction).CalGEM is the Geologic Energy Management Division of the California Department of Conservation, formerly the Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (as of January 1, 2020).Update Frequency: As Needed

This state dataset may have published a dataset that is more current than the National dataset; there may be geometry variations between the state and national dataset which may have different results. Dataset of feature classes for Conservation Lands of the California Desert within NLCS. In 1976, Congress designated a 25-million acre expanse of resource-rich desert lands in southern California as the California Desert Conservation Area (CDCA) through the Federal Land Policy and Management Act. In 2009, Congress, passed the Omnibus Public Land Management Act, which directed the BLM to include lands managed for conservation purposes within the CDCA as part of the National Conservation Lands. To protect this area's natural resources and facilitate development of its energy resources, the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan was undertaken in 2013. This collaborative, multi-stakeholder, landscape-scale planning effort comprises 22.5 million acres in the desert regions of seven California counties, 10.8 million acres of which are BLM lands. Phase I of the DRECP was completed in September 2016. It designated 4.2 million acres as part of the National Conservation Lands of the California Desert. Much of this land was already a part of the National Conservation Lands (in particular, large portions of the Mojave Trails and Sand to Snow National Monuments), but 2.89 million acres were a new addition to the system. National Conservation Lands of the California Desert are closed to all energy development.

The BLM also explains in this ROD the identification of the California Desert National Conservation Lands as discussed in the attached LUPA. The LUPA was prepared as part of the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP). The DRECP has been developed as an interagency plan by the BLM, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) (collectively “REAT Agencies”; Renewable Energy Action Team [REAT]) to (1) advance federal and state natural resource conservation goals and other federal land management goals; (2) meet the requirements of the federal Endangered Species Act (ESA), California Endangered Species Act (CESA), Natural Community Conservation Planning Act (NCCPA), and Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA); and (3) facilitate the timely and streamlined permitting of renewable energy projects, all in the Mojave and Colorado/Sonoran desert regions of Southern California. This Land Use Plan Table contains attributes about anticipated, in-progress, existing and historical land use plans. This is the parent table of the feature set and all related polygons and reports generated from this feature set will derive their core attribute information from this table.

Types of recreation decisions include Special Recreation Management Areas (SRMA) and Extensive Recreation Management Areas (ERMA). There are also sub-designations of open, closed, or limited for the OHV areas. The name of each area along with what field office it is managed by is also in the attribute table. The Comments field contains the attributes 'High', 'Transition', and 'Remote'. Recreation opportunities for SRMAs are organized into three major categories: High use areas: opportunities for high levels of social interaction (high levels of use with people in close proximity). Transition areas: opportunities for moderate levels of social interaction (moderate levels of use with people in close to moderate proximity). Remote areas: opportunities for low levels of social interaction, with a focus on appreciation for and a sense of solitude or remoteness.
