Meanwhile, rising vehicle prices have meant greater repair costs, which can lead to higher revenue for repair shops. As a result, over the five years to 2025, car body shop revenue is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.7% to an estimated $73.9 billion. While on the whole, rising vehicle prices can benefit repair shops, they also pose several potential threats. New car prices have been on the rise as safety features like blind spot sensors, backup cameras and collision detectors have become commonplace. These features help reduce the number of accidents. Meanwhile, advanced safety systems can make even surface-level repairs more complicated and costly. Repairs are most profitable for body shops when they can be done quickly and efficiently, but replacing advanced parts can take longer, driving down total profit. Finally, as repair costs get more expensive, the more likely it is that a car insurance company will consider an accident a total loss. If repair costs exceed a certain percentage of the vehicle's value, insurers won’t pay for them. These situations are risky for repair shops, since they result in no revenue and with expensive internal systems, it can be difficult to assess full damage costs from the surface. As vehicles continue to advance, body shops will need to prepare for these threats. Over the next five years, car body shop revenue growth is expected to slow. Without the inflated growth of post-pandemic recovery, driver activity will grow at a more tepid pace. Additionally, economic uncertainty brought on by the US’s new aggressive trade policy will prompt some drivers to put off or forgo non-essential repairs and aesthetic services. Revenue is already expected to fall 0.2% in 2025 and the government is still expected to impose additional tariffs, leading to more uncertainty. As a result, over the five years to 2030, revenue is projected to grow at a CAGR of 0.8% to $77.0 billion.

    Description

    Red, Green, and Blue (RGB) and depth markerless body tracking systems were applied for industrial exoskeletons. The original images and their body tracking results are described in this data set. The data set describes the body tracking result changes by exoskeletons, industrial task poses, and camera viewpoints. A full-body exoskeleton, an upper-body exoskeleton, and an exosuit are used in the test. Stand, bend forward, squat, and crouch are defined as industrial poses with stretching arms forward, forward-up, up, forward-down, or down. The original images for body tracking were captured from front, side-front, side, side-back, and back from the subject with straight or top-down vertical viewpoints. The acceptability of body tracking results was evaluated for classifying usable data for exoskeleton performance analysis. The data set includes the original images, body tracking overlaid images, representative body tracking results, and acceptability evaluation results. While on the whole, rising vehicle prices can benefit repair shops, they also pose several potential threats. New car prices have been on the rise as safety features like blind spot sensors, backup cameras and collision detectors have become commonplace. These features help reduce the number of accidents. Meanwhile, advanced safety systems can make even surface-level repairs more complicated and costly. Repairs are most profitable for body shops when they can be done quickly and efficiently, but replacing advanced parts can take longer, driving down total profit. Finally, as repair costs get more expensive, the more likely it is that a car insurance company will consider an accident a total loss. If repair costs exceed a certain percentage of the vehicle's value, insurers won’t pay for them. These situations are risky for repair shops, since they result in no revenue and with expensive internal systems, it can be difficult to assess full damage costs from the surface. As vehicles continue to advance, body shops will need to prepare for these threats. Over the next five years, car body shop revenue growth is expected to slow. Without the inflated growth of post-pandemic recovery, driver activity will grow at a more tepid pace. Additionally, economic uncertainty brought on by the US’s new aggressive trade policy will prompt some drivers to put off or forgo non-essential repairs and aesthetic services. Revenue is already expected to fall 0.2% in 2025 and the government is still expected to impose additional tariffs, leading to more uncertainty. As a result, over the five years to 2030, revenue is projected to grow at a CAGR of 0.8% to $77.0 billion.
