The Administrative Boundaries used by the Data in Emergencies Hub are the result of a collection of international and subnational divisions currently used by FAO country offices for mapping and reporting purposes. With only a few exceptions, they are mostly derived from datasets published on The Humanitarian Data Exchange (OCHA).The dataset consists of national boundaries, first subdivision, and second subdivision for Sure! The 2019 cartographic boundary shapefiles are simplified representations of selected geographic areas from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). These boundary files are specifically designed for small-scale thematic mapping. When possible, generalization is performed with the intent to maintain the hierarchical relationships among geographies and to maintain the alignment of geographies within a file set for a given year. Geographic areas may not align with the same areas from another year. Some geographies are available as nation-based files while others are available only as state-based files. SLDU stands for State Legislative District Upper Chamber. State Legislative Districts (SLDs) are the areas from which members are elected to state legislatures. The SLDs embody the upper (senate) and lower (house) chambers of the state legislature. Nebraska has a unicameral legislature and the District of Columbia has a single council, both of which the Census Bureau treats as upper-chamber legislative areas for the purpose of data presentation; there are no data by SLDL for either Nebraska or the District of Columbia. A unique three-character census code, identified by state participants, is assigned to each SLD within a state. In Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, and Puerto Rico, the Redistricting Data Program (RDP) participant did not define the SLDs to cover all of the state or state equivalent area. In these areas with no SLDs defined, the code "ZZZ" has been assigned, which is treated as a single SLD for purposes of data presentation. The boundaries of the 2018 state legislative districts were provided by state-level participants through the RDP and reflect the districts used to elect members in or prior to the November 2018 election.

The India Village-Level Geospatial Socio-Economic Data Set: 1991, 2001 is a compilation of the finest level of administrative boundaries in India (village/town-level) and over 200 socio-economic variables collected during the Indian Census in 1991 and 2001. This data set was developed by digitizing village/town level boundaries from the official analog maps published by the Survey of India for 2001. This data set also utilized tabular data for 1991 and 2001 from the Primary Census Abstract (PCA) and Village Directory (VD) data series of the Indian census. The data are in UTM 44N projection and are distributed primarily as shapefiles. Separate files are provided for each of the 28 states (number of states during 1991 and 2001 census) and combined Union Territories for 1991 and 2001.

A vector polygon layer of all Indian Territory boundaries in New York State. The source data was originally a compilation of U.S. Geological Survey 1:100,000-scale digital vector files and NYS Department of Transportation 1:24,000-scale and 1:75,000-scale digital vector files. Boundaries were revised to 1:24,000-scale positional accuracy. Currently, boundary changes are made as needed based on authoritative sources.

The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. American Indian tribal subdivisions are administrative subdivisions of federally recognized American Indian reservations/off-reservation trust lands or Oklahoma tribal statistical areas (OTSAs). These entities are internal units of self-government and/or administration that serve social, cultural, and/or economic purposes for the American Indian tribe or tribes on the reservations/off-reservation trust lands or OTSAs. The Census Bureau obtains the boundary and attribute information for tribal subdivisions on federally recognized American Indian reservations and off-reservation trust lands from federally recognized tribal governments through the Census Bureau's Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS). For the 2020 Census, the boundaries for tribal subdivisions on OTSAs were also obtained from federally recognized tribal governments through the Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP). Note that tribal subdivisions do not exist on all reservations/off-reservation trust lands or OTSAs, rather only where they were submitted to the Census Bureau by the federally recognized tribal government for that area. The boundaries for American Indian tribal subdivisions are as of January 1, 2020, as reported by the federally recognized tribal governments through the Census Bureau's Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS). The boundaries for tribal subdivisions on OTSAs are those reported as of January 1, 2020 through PSAP.
