TwitterUK Airport Statistics are available each month from the Civil Aviation Authority. http://www.caa.co.uk/Data-and-analysis/UK-aviation-market/Airports/Datasets/UK-airport-data/ Table shows number of passengers handled by each London airport, and the country of destination of each passenger arriving into or departing from London's airports in the whole of 2011.

TwitterThis report summarises findings from a set of questions on air passengers’ experiences at seven UK airports (Heathrow, Stansted, Manchester, Gatwick, Luton, Edinburgh and Inverness). This survey module was sponsored by the DfT and was included in the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) passenger survey in 2009.
The report covers passengers’ attitudes and experiences in relation to:
Broader information on Public attitudes statistics, including supporting technical documentation can be found here.

TwitterThe CAA collects statistics from more than 60 UK Airports. Information is supplied on each individual air transport flight with other movements, for example Private or Aero Club, being reported as a block monthly total.
From the individual flight records it is possible to build up pictures of the activity at each reporting airport. In addition the traffic and capacity on each route to/from the airport can be assessed. Airport statistics are available as monthly or annual publications or you may commission reports to suit your particular needs.

The dataset shows size of Glasgow Airport over a ten year period (between 2004 to 2014) broken down on a monthly basis. Annual figures for 2015-17 also included.
The field names contained within the data shows terminal passengers at Glasgow Airport, percentage of passengers at all airports - both figures for the present year measured against terminal passengers at Glasgow Airport and percentage of passengers at all airports for the previous year.
A Data dictionary is provided in the resources which explains this further and supporting document from the Civil Aviation Authority.

TwitterAir traffic by operation type and airport in the United Kingdom, 2023Figures are presented as the number of air transport movements (landings and take-offs) in thousands, the number of terminal passengers (arrivals and departures) in thousands, and the amount of freight handled (set down and picked up) in thousand tonnes.Null indicates that either no air transport movements, terminal passengers, or freight handled was reported for the period at the airport. The term ‘UK airport’ covers airports which submit returns to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). This includes all major UK airports that handle commercial air traffic.Reporting airports: these are airports that provide full statistical data on the movement of aircraft engaged in the transport of passengers, freight or mail on a commercial basis.Summary airports: these airports do not submit full statistical returns on handling activity to the CAA and are not included in the version of CAA Airport Statistics held by DfT. These are typically small airports. As a result, these figures are still derived from published CAA Airport Statistics tables.Air transport movements: all landings and take-offs of aircraft engaged in the transport of passengers, freight or mail on commercial terms.Terminal passengers: all revenue and non-revenue passengers joining or leaving an aircraft at a UK airport. A passenger travelling between 2 reporting airports is counted twice, once at each airport. A passenger who changes from one aircraft to another is a terminal passenger on both arrival and departure.Freight: the weight of other property carried on an aircraft excluding mail and passengers’ and crews’ permitted baggage. Freight in transit through the airport on the same aircraft is excluded.Figures exclude air-taxi operations (small commercial aircraft making short flights on demand), and movements reported by the Channel Islands and Isle of Man airports.Doncaster Sheffield, Manston (Kent Int) and Scatsta are former reporting airports which no longer provide figures for air traffic handled, but have done so within the last ten years.Source: Civil Aviation AuthorityContactEmail: aviation.stats@dft.gov.ukGIS dataset created by DfT Mapping in June 2025
