Land Use Planning Areas are geographic areas within which the BLM will make decisions during a land use planning effort. Land Use Planning Area Boundaries shift from an "in-progress" status and become Existing Land Use Planning Areas when the Land Use Plan has been approved and a Record of Decision Date has been established. At this point, these LUPAs are officially "existing" and the previous plan is moved to a "historic" status.

This ownership dataset utilizes a methodology that results in a federal ownership extent that matches the Federal Responsibility Areas (FRA) footprint from CAL FIRE's State Responsibility Areas for Fire Protection (SRA) data. FRA lands are snapped to county parcel data, thus federal ownership areas will also be snapped. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has prepared this Record of Decision (ROD) approving the Land Use Plan Amendment (LUPA) for the California Desert Conservation Area (CDCA) Plan and Bishop and Bakersfield Resource Management Plans (RMPs). The BLM also explains in this ROD the identification of the California Desert National Conservation Lands as discussed in the attached LUPA. The LUPA was prepared as part of the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP). TwitterData in this file were produced by Science Applications, Inc., prime contractor on the Bureau of Land Management/Outer Continental Shelf - Southern California Studies (BLM/OCS). Data consist of six data files (benthic sediment characteristics, benthic sediment hydrocarbons, intertidal sediment hydrocarbons, intertidal sediment trace metals, benthic sediment trace metals, and intertidal sediment characteristics). Data are derived from 801 grab and box core samples from the sea floor offshore Southern California. Original documentation have been scanned as images to a .PDF document. The data were received on August 19, 1977. Some documentation has been transcribed to an ASCII readme file. Additional data codes and documentation are in poor, extremely hard to read condition. There are known problems in these data files, including truncation of records past the 80th column in the first file (Benthic Sediment Characteristics). Other problems exist in device codes and analyses that were unable to be resolved by multiple exchanges with the contributors. Additional problems may exist, including deviations from the specified formats.

The USGS, in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM), created a series of geospatial products of the Scotts Creek Watershed in Lake County, California, using National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) imagery from 2018, 2020 and 2022. The imagery was downloaded from United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) - Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Geospatial Data Gateway (https://datagateway.nrcs.usda.gov). The NAIP imagery from 2018, 2020 and 2022 was classified using Random Forest Modeling to produce land cover maps with three main classifications – bare, vegetation, and shadows. A total of 600 independent reference points were used in the accuracy assessment. The overall accuracy for all classes for each dataset is 98%.
