    Description

This dataset is no longer being updated as of 5/11/2023. It is being retained on the Open Data Portal for its potential historical interest.

This dataset shows positive COVID-19 Cases in Cambridge by neighborhood. It is reported to Cambridge by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts once per day. Of Note:

Population data are from Cambridge Community Development, and are sourced from the 2013-2017 American Community Survey estimates, and may differ from actual population counts.

Cases for which the home address is missing, misspelled, or incorrect (i.e., not an actual Cambridge address) may not be represented on the maps. For these reasons, the total case count reflected in the maps is lower than the current case count for the city.

The maps reflect the time period of March 10, 2020 (first known positive case) through present. Cases are not removed from the maps when a resident recovers or passes away. The maps do not include COVID-19 cases among Cambridge residents in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities.

Data are updated once per day. Case counts are subject to change.

The Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) is using a tool called “geocoder,” developed by the City’s Information Technology Department, to assign the home addresses of cases to one of the city’s 13 neighborhoods. The geocoder tries to match each case address to the City's official address list. Cambridge's geocoder is run locally and off-network to ensure health data privacy.

To learn more about the demographics of the city’s neighborhoods, see City of Cambridge Neighborhood Statistical Profile 2019.

    Description

This polygon layer contains all of the property parcels in Cambridge. Each parcel has a unique Map and Lot ID number that links it to a record in the Assessing Department's Vision database system. Created for internal use by the Assessing Department to provide a visual reference associated with each parcel in the CAMA database. Created for interdepartmental and external use as part of the web viewers on the City's website. Also created for addressing/geocoding needs, although the Buildings and Master Address List are currently more accurate than Parcels. NOTE: The Parcels GIS data layer is NOT used by Assessing to calculate land area or taxes. Assessors refer to actual deeds or plans accepted by the Massachusetts Land Court. The figures stored in the GIS data layer are for general reference purposes only.

    Description

Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.

The project investigates the extent, nature and importance of technological, information and other linkages between firms themselves and between firms, research institutions and other private and public sector bodies in the Cambridge and Oxford regions and addresses the question of how far these territorial clusters reflect the core characteristics of an 'innovative milieu', that is, a form of networking characterised both by vertical subcontracting chains and horizontal linkages with the providers of financial, technical, fashion, design, marketing and training services and advice.
    Main Topics:

This dataset was created from face to face interviews using a stratified random sample drawn from two databases of high-technology firms in the Cambridge and Oxford regions, with data from the Cambridgeshire County Council's Research Group, Oxford Trust and British Telecom.
The dataset consists of 100 high-technology firms, 50 from each region, using a detailed semi-structured questionnaire devised in consultation with a Business Users Group established by the project and including experts such as the Director of the St John's Innovation Centre, Cambridge.
Prior to the interview the participants were sent a pre-interview fact sheet, which they were asked to complete.
The questionnaire covered the following topics: general characteristics, origins and entrepreneurship; Cambridge/Oxford as a high-tech location; growth and acquisitions; innovation activity; links with the university and research institutions; inter-firm networks; and scale and networking. The pre-interview fact sheet covered questions on the firm, the workforce and trade.
