    Description

    Geospatial Services Land management within the US Forest Service and on the 900,000+ acre Monongahela National Forest (NF) is driven by a wide mix of resource and societal demands that prove a challenge in fulfilling the Forest Service’s mission of “Caring for the Land and Serving the People.” Programmatically, the 2006 Land and Resource Management Plan guide natural resource management activities on lands administered by the Monongahela National Forest. The Forest Plan describes management direction and practices, resource protection methods and monitoring, desired resource conditions, and the availability and suitability of lands for resource management. Technology enables staff to address these land management issues and Forest Plan direction by using a science-based approach to facilitate effective decisions. Monongahela NF geospatial services, using enabling-technologies, incorporate key tools such as Environmental Systems Research Institute’s ArcGIS desktop suite and Trimble’s global positioning system (GPS) units to meet program and Forest needs. Geospatial Datasets The Forest has a broad set of geospatial datasets that capture geographic features across the eastern West Virginia landscape. Many of these datasets are available to the public through our download site. Selected geospatial data that encompass the Monongahela National Forest are available for download from this page. A link to the FGDC-compliant metadata is provided for each dataset. All data are in zipped format (or available from the specified source), in one of two spatial data formats, and in the following coordinate system: Coordinate System: Universal Transverse Mercator Zone: 17 Units: Meters Datum: NAD 1983 Spheroid: GRS 1980 Map files – All map files are in pdf format.     GEODATA TOPO 250K Series 3 is a vector representation of the major topographic features appearing on the 1:250,000 scale NATMAPs supplied in KML format and is designed for use in a range of commercial GIS software.     GEODATA TOPO 250K Series 3 is available as a free download product in Personal Geodatabase, ArcView Shapefile or MapInfo TAB file formats. Each package includes data arranged in ten main themes - cartography, elevation, framework, habitation, hydrography, infrastructure, terrain, transport, utility and vegetation.     Description

    The Barrow Area Information Database (BAID) data collection is comprised of geospatial data for the research hubs of Barrow, Atqasuk and Ivotuk on Alaska's North Slope. Over 9600 research plots and instrument locations are included in the BAID research sites database. Updates to the project tracking database are ongoing through field mapping of new research locations and extant sampling sites dating back to the 1940s. Many ancillary data layers are also compiled to facilitate research activities and science communication. These geospatial data sets have been compiled through BAID and related NSF efforts. Geospatial data unique to this project are currently browseable via the BAID archive and include shapefiles of research information (sampling sites and instrumentation, the NOAA-CMDL clean air sector), administrative units (Barrow Environmental Observatory Science Research District plus adjacent federal lands, village districts, zoning, tax parcels, and the Ukpeagvik Inupiat Corporation boundary), infrastructure (power poles, snow fences, roads), erosion data for Elson Lagoon and imagery (declassified military imagery, air photo mosaics, IKONOS, Landsat, Quickbird, SAR and flight line indexes). Related data sets can be browsed via BAID’s web mapping tools and downloaded via the “Related links” section below. In addition, the BAID Internet Map Server (BAID-IMS) provides browse access to a number of additional layers which are available for download through catalog pages at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), the Alaska Geospatial Data Clearinghouse at USGS and the Alaska State Geo-Spatial Data Clearinghouse. Conditional logic in webform for the newly published Open Drainage Survey was not calculating properly leading to some records with "Undetermined" status and priority. Records have been rescored and survey was republished with corrective logic. Field App version not impacted.March 11, 2025. The Road Erosion Inventory Survey123 questions for Open Drainage Roads are being streamlined to make assessments faster. Coming April 1st, the survey will be changed to only ask if there is erosion depending on if the corresponding practice type is failing. This aims at using erosion as an indicator to measure the success of each of the four Open Drainage road elements to handle stormwater: crown, berm, drainage, turnout.March 29, 2023. For MRGP permitting, Lyndonville Village (GEOID 5041950) has merged with Lyndonville Town (GEOID 5000541725). 121 segments and 14 outlets have been updated to reflect the administrative change. December 8, 2023. The Open Drainage Road Inventory survey has been updated for the 2024 field season. We added and modified a few notes for clarification and corrected an issue with users submitting incomplete surveys. See FAQ section below for how to delete the old survey and download the new one. The app will notify you there's an update, and execute it, but we've experienced select-one questions with duplicate entries.November 29, 2023. The Closed Drainage Road Inventory survey has been updated for the 2024 field season. There's a new outlet status option called "Not accessible" and conditional follow-up question. This has been added to support MS4 requirements. See FAQ section below for how to delete the old survey and download the new one. Reporter for MRGPThe Reporter for MRGP doesn't require you to download any apps to complete an inventory; all you need is an internet connection and web browser. The Reporter is a great way to submit work completed to meet the MRGP standards. The credential is saved unless you sign out.     How do I update a survey when a new one is available?While the Survey123 app will notify you and update it for you, we've experienced some select-one questions having duplicate choices. It's a best practice to delete the old survey and download the new one.     How do I save my name and organization information used in subsequent surveys? Watch this short video or execute the steps below:

    Open Survey123 and open a blank REI form (Collect button) Note: it's important to open a blank form so you don't save the same segment id for all your surveys Fill-in your 'Name' and 'Organization' and clear the 'Date of Assessment field' (x button). Using the favorites menu in the top-right corner you can use the current state of your survey to 'Set as favorite answers.' Close survey and 'Save this survey in Drafts.' Use Collector to launch survey from selected feature (segment or outlet). Using the favorites menu again, 'Paste answers from favorite.

    What if the map doesn't have the outlet or road segment I need to inventory for the MRGP? Go Directly to Survey123 and complete the appropriate Road Erosion Inventory and submit the data to DEC. The survey includes a Geopoint (location) that we can use to determine where you completed the inventory.

    The "NSDI Zambia Operational Health Facility Layer, Version 01 (Beta)" provides health facility and health affiliated infrastructure point locations, names, types, and source of the data. The dataset was developed by compiling and standardizing existing government data sources of health facility and affiliated infrastructure locations and names data from the Ministry of Health (MoH) obtained in 2019 and from the 2010 census cartography from Zambia Statistics Agency (ZamStats). The dataset is available for download in shapefile format and can be viewed in Geographic Information Systems(GIS) such as ArcMap, QGIS, or Google Earth (Pro). The data is available for all of Zambia. It has the following attributes: Name, Original Name (from original dataset), Type, Sub Type, Source, Province (Code), District (Code), Global ID.     This data set represents the extent, approximate location and type of wetlands and deepwater habitats in the United States and its Trust Territories. These data delineate the areal extent of wetlands and surface waters as defined by Cowardin et al. (1979). Certain wetland habitats may be excluded because of the limitations of aerial imagery as the primary data source used to detect wetlands. These habitats include seagrasses or submerged aquatic vegetation that are found in the intertidal and subtidal zones of estuaries and near shore coastal waters. Some deepwater reef communities (coral or tuberficid worm reefs) have also been excluded from the inventory. These habitats, because of their depth, go undetected by aerial imagery. By policy, the Service also excludes certain types of "farmed wetlands" as may be defined by the Food Security Act or that do not coincide with the Cowardin et al. definition.The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) is the principal Federal agency that provides information to the public on the extent and status of the Nation's wetlands.     GEODATA TOPO 250K Series 3 is a vector representation of the major features appearing on 1:250,000 scale NATMAP topographic maps and is supplied in various formats over a defined area. It is primarily designed to provide high quality data for mapping and GIS professionals. Data includes powerlines and pipelines and is supplied for commercial GIS and public use in the formats described below. GEODATA TOPO 250K Series 3 is available as a packaged product in Personal Geodatabase, ArcView Shapefile or MapInfo TAB file formats. Each package includes data arranged in ten main themes - cartography, elevation, framework, habitation, hydrography, infrastructure, terrain, transport, utility and vegetation.     [Metadata] Agricultural Land Use (2020). Source: The University of Hawaii at Hilo Spatial Data Analysis and Visualization (SDAV) Laboratory in conjunction with the Hawaii State Department of Agriculture, 2021. Updated February 2022.The 2020 Update to the Hawaiʻi Statewide Agricultural Land Use Baseline layer was created to provide a snapshot of contemporary commercial agricultural land use activity in Hawaiʻi. It is based upon an assemblage of geospatial datasets, primarily high-resolution WorldView-2 and WorldView-3 satellite imagery (2018 – 2020) used as a base layer for digitization. Additional datasets used in this work include GIS layers provided by the state of Hawaiʻi, Office of Planning Statewide GIS Program and other data provided by major land owners and managers. County Real Property Tax and Agricultural Water Use data were also used to identify commercial farm operations. Not all properties that receive County agricultural tax assessment rates or reduced water cost for agricultural uses were mapped due to the small scale of some of their operations. These data sources were used to verify mapped commercial farms and identify operations that might have been missed using the imagery alone. Digitized crop locations and boundaries were verified through a combination of on-the-ground site visits, meetings and presentations of draft layers with agricultural stakeholders and landowners, solicitations through a publicly accessible online web mapping portal, and spot- checking using Google Earth™ and other high resolution imagery sources. The 2020 Update to the Hawaiʻi Statewide Agricultural Land Use Baseline layer represents our best efforts to capture the scale and diversity of commercial agricultural activity in Hawaiʻi in 2020 and should be used for informational purposes only. Note: February 2022: Maui County added, Several additional minor updates have been made to the original 2020 Update to the Hawaii Statewide Agricultural Land Use Baseline that was published in May 2021. Note: April 2022: Several users of the data discovered that the original 2015 Hawaiʻi Statewide Agricultural Land Use Baseline layer and the 2020 Update to the Hawaiʻi Statewide Agricultural Land Use Baseline layer did not overlay properly, with an offset between the layers of 10 feet to 40 feet, depending on the area. As a result, both the original and the updated layers have been republished, and now overlay as they should. The underlying data itself has not changed. Please note - if you download data from the State's geoportal (https://geoportal.hawaii.gov/), the data is exported in WGS84 coordinates, although it is stored internally (in the State’s geodatabase), served in the State's web services (https://geodata.hawaii.gov/arcgis/rest/services) and made available in the State's legacy download site (https://planning.hawaii.gov/gis/download-gis-data-expanded/) in UTM / NAD 83 HARN coordinates.     This is a tiled collection of the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) and is one meter resolution. The 3DEP data holdings serve as the elevation layer of The National Map, and provide foundational elevation information for earth science studies and mapping applications in the United States. Scientists and resource managers use 3DEP data for hydrologic modeling, resource monitoring, mapping and visualization, and many other applications. The elevations in this DEM represent the topographic bare-earth surface. USGS standard one-meter DEMs are produced exclusively from high resolution light detection and ranging (lidar) source data of one-meter or higher resolution. One-meter DEM surfaces are seamless within collection projects, but, not necessarily seamless across projects. The spatial reference used for tiles of the one-meter DEM within the conterminous United States (CONUS) is Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) in units of meters, and in conformance with the North American Datum of 1983 ...
