    Description

This dataset outlines a proposed set of core, minimal metadata elements that can be used to describe biomedical datasets, such as those resulting from research funded by the National Institutes of Health. It can inform efforts to better catalog or index such data to improve discoverability. The proposed metadata elements are based on an analysis of the metadata schemas used in a set of NIH-supported data sharing repositories. Common elements from these data repositories were identified, mapped to existing data-specific metadata standards from to existing multidisciplinary data repositories, DataCite and Dryad, and compared with metadata used in MEDLINE records to establish a sustainable and integrated metadata schema. From the mappings, we developed a preliminary set of minimal metadata elements that can be used to describe NIH-funded datasets. Please see the readme file for more details about the individual sheets within the spreadsheet.

    Description

The project focuses on cataloging species in Cabo Verde using preserved specimens from the animal and plant kingdoms housed in museums. The initiative aims to create a comprehensive digital database that documents the biodiversity of the archipelago, leveraging historical and contemporary collections. By analyzing morphological, genetic, and ecological data from these specimens, the project seeks to identify species, track changes in biodiversity over time, and support conservation efforts. This collaborative effort involves taxonomists, ecologists, and museum curators, and will serve as a valuable resource for researchers, policymakers, and educators working to preserve Cabo Verde's unique ecosystems.

    Description

Through the Permanent Art Program, MTA Arts & Design (formerly Arts for Transit) commissions public art that is seen by millions of city-dwellers as well as national and international visitors who use the MTA’s subways and trains. Arts & Design works closely with the architects and engineers at MTA NYC Transit, Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad to determine the parameters and sites for the artwork that is to be incorporated into each station scheduled for renovation. A diversity of well-established, mid-career and emerging artists contribute to the growing collection of works created in the materials of the system -mosaic, ceramic, tile, bronze, steel and glass. Artists are chosen through a competitive process that uses selection panels comprised of visual arts professionals and community representatives which review and select artists. This data provides the branch or station and the artist and artwork information.

    Description

MARC List for Languages provides three-character lowercase alphabetic strings that serve as the identifiers of languages and language groups. The codes are usually based on the first three letters of the English form or, in some cases, vernacular form of the corresponding language name. The codes are varied where necessary to resolve conflicts and are not intended to be abbreviations of a language name. When the name of a language is changed in the list, the original code is generally retained. The codes in this list are equivalent to those of ISO 639-2 (Bibliographic) codes and some codes from ISO 639-5, although the language name labels may differ. They are linked to the equivalent codes in ISO 639-2 and ISO 639-5 and the corresponding two-character codes in ISO 639-1. The list contains over 480 discrete codes. It is also searchable at: MARC Code List for Languages.

    Description

Background Dependency Injection (DI) is a commonly applied mechanism to decouple classes from their dependencies in order to provide better modularization of software. In the context of Java, the availability of a DI specification and popular frameworks, such as Spring, facilitate DI usage in software projects. However, bad DI implementation practices can have negative consequences, such as increasing coupling, hindering the achievement of DI's main goal. Even though the literature suggests the existence of DI anti-patterns, there is no detailed documentation of such bad practices. Moreover, there is no evidence on their occurrence and perceived usefulness from the developer's point of view.

Aims Our goal is to review the reported DI anti-patterns in order to analyze their completeness and to propose and evaluate a novel catalog of Java DI anti-patterns.

Method We propose a catalog containing twelve Java DI anti-patterns. We selected four open-source and two closed-source software projects that adopt a DI framework and developed a tool to statically analyze the occurrence of the candidate DI anti-patterns within their source code. Also, we conducted a survey through face to face interviews with three experienced developers that regularly apply DI. We extended the survey in order to gather the perception of a set of fifteen expert and novice developers through an online questionnaire.

Results At least nine different DI anti-patterns appeared frequently in the analyzed projects. In addition, the feedback received from the developers confirmed the relevance of the catalog. Besides, the respondents expressed their willingness to refactor instances of anti-patterns from source code.

Conclusions The catalog contains Java DI anti-patterns that occur in practice and are useful. Sharing it with practitioners may help them to avoid such anti-patterns.

    Description

The Catalogue of World Gelechiidae derives from a summary of the Gelechiidae list developed and maintained as a Word document by Klaus Sattler at the Natural History Museum, London. This list was converted in 2021 by Donald Hobern to form this Catalogue of Life Data Package dataset. Many species previously included as Gelechiidae within the COL Checklist from the NHM Global Lepidoptera Names Index (LepIndex) are not recognised within the family by Klaus Sattler. Most of these are now considered to belong to other families within the Gelechioidea, but 40 genera and 62 species cannot yet be assigned to any other family. These have been included as "provisionally accepted" taxa within this dataset but are likely to be moved elsewhere in the COL Checklist in future.
