These aggregated datasets provide information on the number and value of unmanaged debts based on all money judgments registered in the courts of England and Wales for each year since 2001. The datasets provide a comprehensive and consistent view of indebtedness across the United Kingdom and the annual snapshots enable important changes in debt levels to be identified and future trends predicted.
This published aggregated data is part of a larger series of datasets. These have been produced at different levels of geography consistent with ONS standards and a range of comparable aggregated datasets.

This fact sheet is based on two research publications from the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics (CCJS) published in 2015 and 2018. In the 2015 Juristat, CCJS linked police-reported data from the Uniform Crime Reporting Survey to court data from the Adult Criminal Court Survey to identify intimate partner violence (IPV) cases and their outcomes. All figures noted in this JustFacts are based on police-reported information and therefore are likely an under-representation of the true scope of the problem.

TwitterThe objective of the Adult Criminal Court Survey (ACCS) is to develop and maintain a database of statistical information on appearances, charges, and cases in adult criminal courts. The survey is intended to be a census of federal statute charges heard in provincial and superior criminal courts in Canada. It includes information on the age and sex of the accused, case decision patterns, sentencing information regarding the length of prison and probation, and amount of fine, as well as case-processing data such as case elapsed time. These data on federal statute charges heard in adult criminal courts in the reference period are collected by the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics (CCJS) in collaboration with provincial and territorial government departments responsible for adult criminal courts. The data are collected to respond to the needs of the provincial/territorial and federal departments of justice and attorneys-general, researchers and policy analysts, academics and the media, as well as to inform the public how adults are dealt with by adult provincial/territorial criminal courts in Canada. For current ACCS data refer to Statistics Canada The ACCS has been replaced by the Integrated Criminal Court Survey (ICCS) Access data here

Data is also presented from the Department of Justice Canada’s Justice Effectiveness 2008 (JE) project that collected data to specifically analyze case processing time and factors that were associated with case processing delays. The JE dataset includes 3,093 criminal cases from five courts in four jurisdictions. The majority (90%) of these cases closed in 2008. This is an update to a similar JustFacts published in 2017.
