    The Mozambique Population-Based Survey (PBS) provides a comprehensive assessment of the current status of agriculture and food security in two provinces, Zambizia and Nampula. These areas were selected based on national estimates that indicate that the incidence of poverty, malnutrition, and stunting among children less than five years of age is disproportionately high. These provinces are adjacent to three of the country's main trade corridors: Nacala (linking Mozambique to Malawi and Zambia), Beira (linking Mozambique to Zimbabwe), and the N1 (key North-South road connecting Nacala and Beira corridors).     Description

    Smallholders in rural Mozambique are typically characterized by low agricultural productivity, which is in part caused by very low levels of input usage. In the study area, four districts of Nampula province, farmers are generally far from towns where agricultural input providers are based and formal banking services are not available. Lacking these services, smallholders typically face liquidity constraints during the planting season when returns to input usage are the highest. In order to explore potential policy solutions to this challenge, the project combined training and incentives to use mobile money technology alongside targeted input marketing visits to promote formal saving strategies and increase take-up of basic inputs, primarily seeds, and fertilizer. The goal of the pilot project was to determine whether combining group-level trainings in mobile money technology with targeted direct marketing could increase input usage, and consequently boost agricultural productivity. In collaboration with Vodacom, IFPRI organized a series of trainings, first at the individual level with farm group leaders carried out in Nampula city in June 2014. This was followed by group trainings at local sites to which all farm group members were invited in July-August 2014. Input marketing visits were carried out by a local input provider, IKURU from October 2014-January 2015.

    The information presented in this data set is based on records of dockets, petitions, tower share requests, and notices of exempt modifications received and processed by the Council.

    This database is not an exhaustive listing of all wireless telecommunications sites in the state in that it does not include all information about sites not under the jurisdiction of the Siting Council. The dataset includes a row for each Council action on any given facility.

    Although the Connecticut Siting Council makes every effort to keep this spreadsheet current and accurate, the Council makes no representation or warranty as to the accuracy of the data presented herein.

    The public is advised that the records upon which the information in this database is based are kept in the Siting Council’s offices at Ten Franklin Square, New Britain and are open for public inspection during normal working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

    Note to Users: Over the years, some of the wireless companies have had several different corporate identities. In the database, they are identified by the name they had at the time of their application to the Siting Council. To help database users follow the name changes, the list below shows the different names by which the companies have been known. Recent mergers in the telecommunications industry have joined companies listed as separate entities. AT&T Wireless merged with Cingular to do business as New Cingular. Sprint and Nextel have merged to form Sprint/Nextel Corporation.

    SELECTED SOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS IN THE UNITED STATES COMPUTERS AND INTERNET USE - DP02 Universe - Total households Survey-Program - American Community Survey 5-year estimates Years - 2020, 2021, 2022 The 2008 Broadband Improvement Act mandated the collection of data about computer and internet use. As a result, three questions were added to the 2013 American Community Survey (ACS) to measure these topics. The computer use question asked if anyone in the household owned or used a computer and included four response categories for a desktop or laptop, a smartphone, a tablet or other portable wireless computer, and some other type of computer. Respondents selected a checkbox for “Yes” or “No” for each response category. Respondents could select all categories that applied. Question asked if any member of the household has access to the internet. “Access” refers to whether or not someone in the household uses or can connect to the internet, regardless of whether or not they pay for the service. If a respondent answers “Yes, by paying a cell phone company or Internet service provider”, they are asked to select the type of internet service.

    About this dataset

    2013-2014. The National Adult Tobacco Survey (NATS) was created to assess the prevalence of tobacco use, as well as the factors promoting and impeding tobacco use among adults. NATS also establishes a comprehensive framework for evaluating both the national and state-specific tobacco control programs. NATS was designed as a stratified, national, landline, and cell phone survey of non-institutionalized adults aged 18 years and older residing in the 50 states or D.C.     Description

    Population density in 1990 within the boundaries of the Narragansett Bay watershed, the Southwest Coastal Ponds watershed, and the Little Narragansett Bay watershed. The methods for analyzing population were developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency ORD Atlantic Coastal Environmental Sciences Division in collaboration with the Narragansett Bay Estuary Program and other partners. Population rasters were generated using the USGS dasymetric mapping tool (see http://geography.wr.usgs.gov/science/dasymetric/index.htm) which uses land use data to distribute population data more accurately than simply within a census mapping unit. The 1990 10m cell population density raster was produced using Rhode Island 1988 state land use data, Massachusetts 1985 state land use, Connecticut 1992 NLCD land use data, and U.S. Census data (1990). To generate a population estimate (number of persons) for any given area within the boundaries of this raster, use the Zonal Statistics as Table tool to sum the 10m cell density values within your zone dataset (e.g., watershed polygon layer).     LISTOS_SurfaceMobile_InSitu_Data is the Long Island Sound Tropospheric Ozone Study (LISTOS) surface mobile data collected via mobile platforms during the LISTOS field campaign. This product is a result of a joint effort across multiple agencies, including NASA, NOAA, the EPA Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM), Maine Department of Environmental Protection, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and several research groups at universities. This product features data collected by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) special purpose mobile monitor located on the Park City ferry on Long Island Sound and other mobile platforms. Data collection is complete.The New York City (NYC) metropolitan area (comprised of portions of New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut in and around NYC) is home to over 20 million people, but also millions of people living downwind in neighboring states. This area continues to persistently have challenges meeting past and recently revised federal health-based air quality standards for ground-level ozone, which impacts the health and well-being of residents living in the area. A unique feature of this chronic ozone problem is the pollution transported in a northeast direction out of NYC over Long Island Sound. The relatively cool waters of Long Island Sound confine the pollutants in a shallow and stable marine boundary layer. Afternoon heating over coastal land creates a sea breeze that carries the air pollution inland from the confined marine layer, resulting in high ozone concentrations in Connecticut and, at times, farther east into Rhode Island and Massachusetts. To investigate the evolving nature of ozone formation and transport in the NYC region and downwind, Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM) launched the Long Island Sound Tropospheric Ozone Study (LISTOS). LISTOS was a multi-agency collaborative study focusing on Long Island Sound and the surrounding coastlines that continually suffer from poor air quality exacerbated by land/water circulation. The primary measurement observations took place between June-September 2018 and include in-situ and remote sensing instrumentation that were integrated aboard three aircraft, a network of ground sites, mobile vehicles, boat measurements, and ozonesondes. The goal of LISTOS was to improve the understanding of ozone chemistry and sea breeze transported pollution over Long Island Sound and its coastlines. LISTOS also provided NASA the opportunity to test air quality remote sensing retrievals with the use of its airborne simulators (GEOstationary Coastal and Air Pollution Events (GEO-CAPE) Airborne Simulator (GCAS), and Geostationary Trace gas and Aerosol Sensory Optimization (GeoTASO)) for the preparation of the Tropospheric Emissions; Monitoring of Pollution (TEMPO) observations for monitoring air quality from space. LISTOS also helped collaborators in the validation of Tropospheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) science products, with use of airborne- and ground-based measurements of ozone, NO2, and HCHO.

    Description

    Overview: The QuitNowTXT text messaging program is designed as a resource that can be adapted to specific contexts including those outside the United States and in languages other than English. Based on evidence-based practices, this program is a smoking cessation intervention for smokers who are ready to quit smoking. Although evidence supports the use of text messaging as a platform to deliver cessation interventions, it is expected that the maximum effect of the program will be demonstrated when it is integrated into other elements of a national tobacco control strategy. The QuitNowTXT program is designed to deliver tips, motivation, encouragement and fact-based information via unidirectional and interactive bidirectional message formats. The core of the program consists of messages sent to the user based on a scheduled quit day identified by the user. Messages are sent for up to four weeks pre-quit date and up to six weeks post quit date. Messages assessing mood, craving, and smoking status are also sent at various intervals, and the user receives messages back based on the response they have submitted. In addition, users can request assistance in dealing with craving, stress/mood, and responding to slips/relapses by texting specific key words to the QuitNow. Rotating automated messages are then returned to the user based on the keyword. Details of the program are provided below. Texting STOP to the service discontinues further texts being sent. This option is provided every few messages as required by the United States cell phone providers. It is not an option to remove this feature if the program is used within the US. If a web-based registration is used, it is suggested that users provide demographic information such as age, sex, and smoking frequency (daily or almost every day, most days, only a few days a week, only on weekends, a few times a month or less) in addition to their mobile phone number and quit date. This information will be useful for assessing the reach of the program, as well as identifying possible need to develop libraries to specific groups. The use of only a mobile phone-based registration system reduces barriers for participant entry into the program but limits the collection of additional data. At bare minimum, quit date must be collected. At sign up, participants will have the option to choose a quit date up to one month out. Text messages will start up to 14 days before their specified quit date. Users also have the option of changing their quit date at any time if desired. The program can also be modified to provide texts to users who have already quit within the last month. One possible adaptation of the program is to include a QuitNowTXT "light" version. This adaptation would allow individuals who do not have unlimited text messaging capabilities but would still like to receive support to participate by controlling the number of messages they receive. In the light program, users can text any of the programmed keywords without fully opting in to the program. Program Design: The program is designed as a 14-day countdown to quit date, with subsequent six weeks of daily messages. Each day within the program is identified as either a pre-quit date (Q- # days) or a post-quit date (Q+#). If a user opts into the program fewer than 14 days before their quit date, the system will begin sending messages on that day. For example, if they opt in four days prior to their quit date, the system will send a welcome message and recognize that they are at Q-4 (or four days before their quit date), and they will receive the message that everyone else receives four days before their quit date. As the user progresses throughout the program, they will receive messages outlined in the text message library. Throughout the program, users will receive texts that cover a variety of content areas including tips, informational content, motivational messaging, and keyword responses.
