2020 Census tracts are small, relatively permanent statistical subdivisions of a county or equivalent entity, and are reviewed and updated by local participants prior to each decennial census as part of the Census Bureau’s Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP). The US census website only had the caveat that the 2010 category for "Some other race-only" may have been between (19.1-20.1 million / 6.2-6.5%) and the category for "2 or more races" may have been a range (8.0-9.0 million / 2.6-2.9%). The numbers used in the dataset were the final numbers that the US census gives as their final numbers.

2020 Gender: The gender numbers are an estimate (163.8-164.8 million female / 166.9-167.8 million male). I used numbers that kept the ratio and summed to the total population. 2020 Race: The categories "Some other race-only" and "2 or more races" increased significantly for 2020. These changes are mainly due to a difference in how the race and ethnicity questions were asked. (It wasn't only because the demographics themselves changed, but mainly in how people answer the question.) The "Some other race-only" includes mostly Latino and Hispanic people (94%). The "2 or more races" category includes mostly people who are both White and another race(s) (86%). You should take this change into account when comparing an earlier census to the 2020 census. Race "Minority": Lastly, the minority category is calculated by subtracting the population of White-only, Non-Hispanic people from the total US population. Anyone who is any other race besides white AND anyone who is Latino/Hispanic would fall into the minority category.

Abstract (en): The numbers contained in this study are released pursuant to the order of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in Carter v. Department of Commerce, 307 F.3d 1084. These numbers are not official Census 2000 counts. These numbers are estimates of the population based on a statistical adjustment method, utilizing sampling and modeling, applied to the official Census 2000 figures. The estimates utilized the results of the Accuracy and Coverage Evaluation (A.C.E.), a sample survey intended to measure net over- and undercounts in the census results. The Census Bureau has determined that the A.C.E. estimates dramatically overstate the level of undercoverage in Census 2000, and that the adjusted Census 2000 data are, therefore, not more accurate than the unadjusted data. On March 6, 2001, the Secretary of Commerce decided that unadjusted data from Census 2000 should be used to tabulate population counts reported to states and localities pursuant to 13 U.S.C. 141(c) (see 66 FR 14520, March 13, 2001). The Secretary's decision endorsed the unanimous recommendation of the Executive Steering Committee for A.C.E. Policy (ESCAP), a group of 12 senior career professionals within the Census Bureau. The ESCAP, in its recommendation against the use of the statistically adjusted estimates, had noted serious reservations regarding their accuracy. In order to inform the Census Bureau's planned October 2001 decision regarding the potential use of the adjusted estimates for non-redistricting purposes, the agency conducted extensive analyses throughout the summer of 2001. These extensive analyses confirmed the serious concerns the agency had noted earlier regarding the accuracy of the A.C.E. estimates. Specifically, the adjusted estimates were determined to be so severely flawed that all potential uses of these data would be inappropriate. Accordingly, the Department of Commerce deems that these estimates should not be used for any purpose that legally requires use of data from the decennial census and assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of the data for any purpose whatsoever. The Department, including the U.S. Census Bureau, will provide no assistance in the interpretation or use of these numbers. The collection contains four tables: (1) a count of all persons by race (Table PL1), (2) a count of Hispanic or Latino and a count of not Hispanic or Latino by race of all persons (Table PL2), (3) a count of the population 18 years and older by race (Table PL3), and (4) a count of Hispanic or Latino and a count of not Hispanic or Latino by race for the population 18 years and older (Table PL4). ICPSR data undergo a confidentiality review and are altered when necessary to limit the risk of disclosure. The 1998 Dress Rehearsal was conducted as a prelude to the United States Census of Population and Housing, 2000, in the following locations: (1) Columbia, South Carolina, and surrounding areas, including the town of Irmo and the counties of Chester, Chesterfield, Darlington, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lee, Marlboro, Newberry, Richland, and Union, (2) Sacramento, California, and (3) Menominee County, Wisconsin, including the Menominee American Indian Reservation. This collection contains map files showing various levels of geography (in the form of Census Tract Outline Maps, Voting District/State Legislative District Outline Maps, and County Block Maps), TIGER/Line digital files, and Corner Point files for the Census 2000 Dress Rehearsal sites. The Corner Point data files contain the bounding latitude and longitude coordinates for each individual map sheet of the 1998 Dress Rehearsal Public Law (P.L.) 94-171 map products. These files include a sheet identifier, minimum and maximum longitude, minimum and maximum latitude, and the map scale (integer value) for each map sheet. The latitude and longitude coordinates are in decimal degrees and expressed as integer values with six implied decimal places. There is a separate Corner Point File for each of the three map types: County Block Map, Census Tract Outline Map, and Voting District/State Legislative District Outline Map. This forecast represents household and population projections resulting from Plan Bay Area 2040. Numbers are provided by 2010 Census Tract. Household and population numbers are included for 2010 (two versions), 2015, 2020, 2025, 2030, 2035, and 2040. Historical population counts for municipalities in the State of Vermont (1791-2020) compiled by the Vermont Historical Society (years 1791-2010) then appended with 2020 Census counts.An attempt was made to convert counts to current town names to allow for analyses of population change of an area over time. The Historical Society notes, “For example, the census numbers from Kellyvale are counted as the town of Lowell because the name was changed in 1831.
